I've red historical documents, since I'm a historian. And I've heard that from several different people (and some of them were Swedes). Alone at the year 1600 there were 30% Finns in Swedish army. Later on there was even more. If you don't still believe, you can check it from Wikipedia. I have proofs.

@Sareth987 No its not, The Hakkapalitas was disbanded in 1658 and was never used again after, The Caroleans were mainly made up by Swedes and not Finns, The Finns were put on fortifications along the towns,Fortress the Swedes captured. Take a look at the battles fought and look at the regiments taking part, The hakkapalitas werent the entiry army exacly.

Earlier the army had more Swedes aswell, The infantery was almost entirily Swedish and the cavalry aswell except for maybe 3 or 4 regiments that came from Finland. But during the 1600s the armies were mostly built up by merceneries.

Oh, I'm sorry you feel that way. Well you're in luck because it IS in Empire Total War. It's not originally playable but you can download a mod called "Sons of Danneborg" or something like that. It gives Denmark some special units as well. If you've played the game you'll quickly notice that the developers spent little effort on Sweden as well so I know how you feel.
Denmark was playable in Medieval II because it was the dominant Scandinavian power at the time, but during the 1700's the dominant power in Scandinavia was Sweden.
@jimmyn89 Right before the Napoleonic wars Denmark was one of the richest countries in europe and had a fleet that even the british feared would end up on the french side, hence the terror bombing of Copenhagen. So while your statement is true towards the end of the era, it certainly isn't true for the entirety of the game which is mildly buggering me, since the Danish Fleet always were superior and I would've liked to sink some lousy built swedish ships ;)

It was not Charles the XII who ended the Swedish empire, it was Gustav IV Adolf when he lost Finland 1809. Sweden suffered a hard blow when they lost the Baltic territories and some of their settlement in northern Germany. But Charles the XII was a good commander and led is forces well. He only lost the battle of Poltava 1709 (which was not to good fore anyone except Russia). Finally he was attacked by Denmark, Poland and Russia, he defended Sweden and won 2/3 of them.

The swedish army at Narva had marched for a long time, and Karl XII still wanted to attack to surprise the russian force. At Narva, the Swedish army was exhausted too.

There was only around 15 - 30% Finns in the Swedish army (Im talking about the entiry Swedish army back then) The majority arrived from Todays Sweden.

I'd like to see your proofs. I just say what the history books say. Maybe you have your own history but I think that official history books are correct. Ok lets leave Wikipedia alone. But still I have many proofs even tho I can't show them to you. Of course that amount of Finns can move between 30 and 40 %. I'm just saying what history books tell to me. And i told you an easy way to check it up, Read about the battles and look at the regiments participating the in the battles. Compare the number of Finnish regiments with the Swedish Regiments. And what Official History books have you read? Sounds like crap to me.

@Sareth987 No its not, The Hakkapalitas was disbanded in 1658 and was never used again after, The Caroleans were mainly made up by Swedes and not Finns, The Finns were put on fortifications along the towns,Fortress the Swedes captured. Take a look at the battles fought and look at the regiments taking part, The hakkapalitas werent the entiry army exacly.

@Sareth987 During the Great Northern war Sweden still was an Empire, However when Sweden lost that war we lost that status to Russia. Earlier the army had more Swedes aswell, The infantery was almost entirily Swedish and the cavalry aswell except for maybe 3 or 4 regiments that came from Finland. But during the 1600s the armies were mostly built up by merceneries.

Oh, I'm sorry you feel that way. Well you're in luck because it IS in Empire Total War. It's not originally playable but you can download a mod called "Sons of Danneborg" or something like that. It gives Denmark some special units as well. If you've played the game you'll quickly notice that the developers spent little effort on Sweden as well so I know how you feel.

Denmark was playable in Medieval II because it was the dominant Scandinavian power at the time, but during the 1700's the dominant power in Scandinavia was Sweden.

@jimmyn89 Right before the Napoleonic wars Denmark was one of the richest countries in europe and had a fleet that even the british feared would end up on the french side, hence the terror bombing of Copenhagen. So while your statement is true towards the end of the era, it certainly isn't true for the entirety of the game which is mildly buggering me, since the Danish Fleet always were superior and I would've liked to sink some lousy built swedish ships ;)

SWEDEN was a great power intill the collaspe in 1721, Charles the dickhead...Who then rule sweden, made 4 front side wars, with Prussia, russia denmark, Poland, Saxony, Some german state and..If some of u dodnt know, they also tried to go in Turkey to make ally but that turned out just to be worse..So sweden good militäry formers!!! It was not Charles the XII who ended the Swedish empire, it was Gustav IV Adolf when he lost Finland 1809. Sweden suffered a hard blow when they lost the Baltic territories and some of their settlement in northern Germany. But Charles the XII was a good commander and led is forces well. He only lost the battle of Poltava 1709 (which was not to good fore anyone except Russia). Finally he was attacked by Denmark, Poland and Russia, he defended Sweden and won 2/3 of them.

Well, in the war 1700-1721 175.000 swedes died of famine, disease and cold, and 25.000 KIA, so when he went to far into Russia was when it all started go wrong, at Poltava the russians fought a much smaller, starving army, then at Narva.

Sweden won most of the wars before the Great Northern War.
And the battle of Narva, 8,400 Swedes vs 40,000 Russians. 667 Swedish causulties and 16.000 Russian causulties.

you have right...we did loose a 21 years long war with enemy as denmark, polen, russia, after that we didnt make mutch after that. beside biggest navel battle in history at svensksund 1790 =)
but before the great northen war we did win allmost all wars. if we didnt, we should not exixt as country today.
