  • every Aikido master has the same way to makes you understand that he controles your body, here it's well done at 0:44

  • i liked those vids

  • Ufc rules actually state three or more, which would describe alot of aiki techniques would it not?

  • this shit only work agaisnt a noob, i never saw a throwdown like that in a UFC fight.

  • Comment removed

  • @Junjokar lol your 3 previous comment were removed and you call me hater ? for your information only finger and toes manipulation is illegal in ufc. If for you real fighting is Kicking the head of a grounded opponent, hair pulling or eye gouging then go fight 3vs1 in the street with your homies. what im saying in my previous comment is that those technique work well against a training dummy, but try grabbing the finger of a good boxer in the street to "wrist lock" him and you'd probably end KO.

  • @zao101 For me a real fight is one for survival, everything else is playing with something serious. And I removed my own comments for editing and adding.

  • @zao101 hahahaahhahhahahahahhahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa what are u ? 12 or something, grow up u idiot learn something about M.A than comment.

  • @zao101 they have taped hands and wrists bro, you will see these locks in bjj comps, I have used wrist locks like these on the ground plenty of times. This is a very basic drill. These locks are very painful. And I would use these on the street if the chance arose. Its a good technique. Although for a real fight I think gross motor skill movements are a priority. Check out Erik Paulsons use of these locks for submission wrestling (mma trainer)

  • Compare to other marital art demostration without explaination, I can learn the techniques very easily. Thank you!

  • i am a yellow belt in hapkido im going 4 my grading 4 the nxt belt soon and i can do wrist locks pritty good i reckon coz i have 2 brothers 1 23 and other is 16 im 16 as well but once they teamed up on me my 16 year old bro grab the front of my shirt and i did that move but i held on 2 his arm then my 23 year old bro went 2 a straight punch 2 my chest but i twist kicked the inside of his leg grabed his wrist and took his down and i had both of them down with bearly eney effort

  • none of these moves are effective against strength. If your hand/wrist(or forearm) is not strong enough, you won't break free of the chokehold. You need to be able to have a strong grip to hold his arm before you turn your body so it won't slip.I wrestled a lot in my childhood and i know what it takes to take down your opponent.Your opponent might also swing you to the floor while choking you..then what?I never put my trust on these martial arts.Experience and strength do the job.

  • @Well you must watch too many wrestling scenes. In Aikido, strength does not matter. There are different variations and techniques depending on the situation. If the uke tenses while you are performing the technique, a simple slap on the face will divert his attention, giving you the chance to execute the move.

  • Why dont you lay your arm above his elbow? Much more effective

  • anybody who says aikido is a useless and ineffectual defense system has no clue what their talking about. It is my favorite martial art for sure.

  • He who speaks does not know, He who knows does not speak.

  • wonderful

  • the hyper exstension of tendons and ligaments is extremely painful, it's more of a VERY high level of discomfort targeting the nervous system. I don't get why ppl hate on this guy either, but a haters gonna hate... also, I find this particular technique very useful, and really should just be a part of your self defence arsenal.... worth learning i say, even if you don't want to do aikido, give you plenty of time to run away after putting him/her on the ground.

  • Keep in mind, these techniques are slowed down considerably to show how to do them. In real life or advanced training, these guys are unbelievably fast and trying to counter these locks is often not going to happen.

  • LOL im Watching This vid a llitle late... xD... last night a dude that wanted to beat me up wanted to choke me... but i was on the ground... if it wast for that security guard id be dead....

  • Just pull out your 9mm and gut pop him!

  • What's this? I have brown in aikido. He's made several big mistakes.

  • my problem with Aikido is you are on the deffencive waiting fore your aponent to make the first strike..in a life or death situation would you wait fore the strike or atacck first?..good stuff tho i can do all the basic moves he teaches i also box do mauh tie and thui boxing :)

  • hold on... why don't u jus eye gouge him as soon as he grabs your shirt if this is meant for self defense?!

  • In almost every one of this guy's vids, there's always some commenters that hate on him and i totally don't get why... he's showing basic, meat & potatoes aikido and explaining it in a really easy to understand way. I say this guy obviously knows his stuff, and is teaching it great; is it perfect 100% of the time for every eventuality? perhaps not, but let's not be too critical. everyone can learn something from these posts. I say well done and keep 'em comming!

  • @Gattawon never mind, these haters are just jalous fatsos . they can't move right

  • when attacked, you never want to "get away" Deke101. In reality, you want to go ahead and injure the attacker (break an arm, break a nose, snap a wrist, etc...) so that he won't have a second chance to get back up and come after you. You'll also send a message to your attackers buddies if he has some that to mess with you is to mess with death itself.

  • With all respect to the profesor, when you apply nikkyo you should never leave your opponent dumb out of your grabbing.

  • can you explain yourself?

  • Also, just because someone doesn't know how or can't apply a technique; doesn't mean that another person can't. And vice versa. Its all up to you!

  • Ok, for those of you who don't know, anyone can do any martial art technique from any dicipline. It is the responsibility of the practioner to apply what they have learned. It is how you learn, envision understand, and apply it that makes a difference between applicable and non-applicable in a real fight. Anything can happen in a real fight, and anyone can suprise the hell out of you if you are not focused! You have to make it work for you!

  • But the simpler fewer and faster the techniques the easier it is to apply in a real life situation.

  • why would you throw someone

  • A good throw is a sight to behold and an exhilarating experience. The most fun I have ever had in a dojo was being on the recieving end of a good throw.

  • but is it effective

  • Being thrown? If done correctly, it is quite effective. Granted it does not look near as pretty if your attacker is not trained how to fall. It is usefull in getting someone off of you so you can get away.

  • why noy lol

  • what the hell? noone attacks like that..

maybe some douches or drunks (oh, their swing punch is legendary fail).

Anyone who fights would just do a traight punch i face or fake first punch and aim the secong for ribs.

  • Um. I HAVE been grabbed on the street just like that before.

Besides, this is just a basic form vs a static attack anyway. It is designed for a student to LEARN the basic principles of this technique.

  • i have wristlock vids, not the best quality and im doing them on my little brother so it looks kinda funny, but you get a good idea on how to do them.

  • the thing is without a weaking strike theres no way u can pull that wrist over, ive tryed it and i was choked out in 3 seconds. the tec is good, but the one thing this art realy lacks is weaking strikes and finishes...Sorry.

  • The vastly ignorant such as this fellow always seem willing to share.

  • you can do this to kind of prevent the clinch to cant you?

  • oooooooooooo, i cringed at 0:48

  • It's painful technique.. I can tell you!!!..

  • Nikkyo is one of the more powerful techniques in Akido. Its a wonderful technique and I have used this in real applicaiton. Problem with Akido is it dosent cover every single situation. Mixed with other martial arts its wonderful though.

  • every style on the planet doesn't cover every situation. even MMA's most beloved styles - BJJ and Muay Thai - do not cover every single situation. For one, Aikido deals with multiple attackers while BJJ and Muay Thai do not.

  • MMA has more sitaution coverage then any one type or martial art becasue its a mix of the martial arts is my point.

For instance any one martial art doesnt cover every situation, but when you mix them you are more prepaired to deal with most situations because of your experaince in vast training in Mixing the martial arts.

  • eh...not exactly true...take styles and systems like Jeet Kune Do for instance, and JKD training involves training in every range including weapons, weapons during grappling, multiple attackers, firearms, etc etc. Look at Pankration, Filipino martial arts, etc...these are systems that are both traditional and rank as good if not better than MMA fighting. Besides MMA isn't a martial art, it's a sport to begin with so while it works well against one person it may not translate well outside.

  • Mike, what im saying is... if you want to cover all the bases you should mix your martial arts. Aikido though very flashy and very beautiful does not cover all the bases when it comes to real situations and there are loads of them. What I was originally saying is Nikkyo is one of the better techniques in Aikido and is very usable in certain situations. I never said MMA was a specific martial art.

  • Yes I already know that. I'm a JKD stylist at heart and I've trained in many disciplines. I was a nikkyu in Aikido. I'm not a MMA-er however because I don't train for that sport. That's only unarmed mano-a-mano type fighting. My philosophy is if I'm going to pay $150 a month for lessons I'd better get the most bang for my buck.

  • MikeUntstinks, Nikkyo is a technique not a rank in aikido. There are the Kyu rankings and then the Dan Rankings in Aikido. Also JKDs essence is to take what works and throw out what dosent. As a JKDer you should appreciate the MMA game because its refined on what works and what dosent. Its bruce lee's dream come true. Its why they call Bruce Lee the father of Mixed Martial Arts. As for the 150 bucks a month, I never paid that much for any of my training and I been in the game for 20 years.

  • Yes I know the difference between -kyu and -kyo! Yes in fighting application MMA style fighting does fill in the part of the picture in terms of the well-rounded fighter...a goal it shares with JKD but JKD is much more than just mixing a hodge podge of styles together. It seeks the common thread as well.

Well $150 bucks is a reflection of these tough times. Back then I paid very little for training.

  • MMA is a sport not a martial art.. they dont protect their ball etc...

Now the muay thai studied in the world is a sport too.

Aikido deals with multiple attackers but there are other martial arts good 4 real situations like wing chung or krav maga (km is a system not a martial art).

  • yes I know

  • but sit aikido has no offensive attacks so you have to wait to be attacked thats true self defence

  • i am gonna learn aikido

  • I know akido/jujitsu/hapkido

    :o)

  • Slapping a gun out of the attackers hand....? Only a shot to the shoulder....? Are you kidding me? Look I'm not knocking aikido but I'm a practioner of krav maga and a veteren of a ton of streets fights and I can say this , people dont always allow you to grab and flip them. Plus I've seen the punches and kicks you guys practice at full speed and I have to be honest....Its just not that practical. Thats all I'm saying. Maybe against an alcoholic or a hadicap person those things will work

  • I think you need to seek another dojo. I HAVE seen weak Aikido being practiced out there, but I have also seen other martial arts being practiced half-assed as well. Don't judge all of it from seeing a view videos.

Also, try not to misunderstand what is happening between Uke and Nage. If Uke does not roll with certain techniques, he will suffer injury.

  • Hands down Jujitsu, is for 1 on 1.. Multiple attackers (3-5) Karate and Tae Kwon Doe has the Advantage.. 5-10 Attackers Than you need Weapons, Ninjitsu, Kendo, some Kung Fu..10-20 Attackers than you need M16 or AK-47.. General People now, knows some self defense cause of TV, movies, sports, magazines, and Youtube. But when Karate was in the early years, it was like a magic show.. 1st rule in martial Arts is always be Humble.. Than you would never use it..

  • I believe aikido has its place in the world but what if the person never grabs you. What holding technique would you use? What if the person has a knife or a gun? You can't always be gentle in certain situations. Sometimes aggressive behavior or beating people up as toomany0034 so elequently put it. I'm a self defense practitioner myself and have been in situations where I'm being attacked by multiple people and I can tell you that things dont always go the way you practice them. Just be open !

  • a gun? ha! my dads a cop. and i asked him about a gun. he was required to take akido classes due to his job. i prefer to go into battle weaponless. but if a guns pointed at you and the gun is in the left hand for example. take your right hand slap the back of his palm as hard and as fast as you can. making the wrist bend. and at the same time ball up your fist and act like your stabbing the inside of his wrist. making him throw his gun. worst thing that can happen is a shot shoulder.

  • Wow. I hope you don't think Aikido techniques are ALL only to deal with grabs. We STRAT with grabs because they are the BASIC form of attack. We move on to punches and kicks and then to weapons. Then we move on to multiple attackers. I highly reccomend you visit a dojo.

  • The point to the grabbing techniques are that they teach the initial technique. Once past that, an aikidoka may blend with the technique, therefore not requiring a grab, opening the art to atemi, uchi, and weapons strikes. In order to blend, one takes control and actually grabs or guides the uke into the throw or pin, rather than the uke grabbing the nage. Then comes randori, and it all becomes rather practical.

  • I am so glad that half of the people who are saying , negative things about Aikido doesnt understand Aikido. Its too intelligent for some people, so they should just keep doing their kick boxing, MMA, the aggressive sport that they do ! beating people up!I love I just wish that I had started earlier.

  • I totally agree with you. I also laugh, because they think that since this guy isn't super fit looking that he wouldn't be capable of doing these things in fast motion and protecting himself. HA! The things people think these days. Unbelievable.

  • Full contact is all about respect for each other. Yes, you do beat people up, but they are also allowed to beat you up, if they're getting the chance. You do it to see who's better, not to hurt the other one, that's just the inevitable consequence.

  • mma is unintelligent?

  • Nooo. MMA is is the HARVARD UNIVERSITY of martial arts! Nothing but PURE artistic genius! Just take a look at a few interviews of some of the prodigies that are produced there. Yup, divine eloquence in motion, for sure.

  • i did not say that everyone who takes mma is a genius. and neither is everyone who takes aikido. it's because of people like you aikido has a bad reputation. walking around saying aikido is great, else is shit. i know you didn't say it, no comment please. but you show a typical toffee-nose-aikidoka behaviour

  • Forgive my sarcasm. I have studied several different forms of Aikido and other martial arts as well. I just grow tired of ignorant people saying Aikido isn't practical or effective in 'real' life. I know better. I have used it and I have instructed police and military in its use.

  • i forgive you^^

  • so he is fast, just he want to show you how to do it so he need to be slow....

  • This is my least favorite to practice because it hurts .

  • goddammit expertvillage has everything!!!!!!

  • aikido beats all martial art techniques.end of story

  • aikido is then 150 years old. How is this technique ancient?

Also, has anyone ever seen this choke actually used, in real life?

  • yes

  • aikido is AWESOME to ''breed'' your KI,but this shihan there sucks badly in aikido,Sensei Wagner Bull,6th Dan,should be doing these videos, yesterday i was in an demonstration and i had to hould him along with 9 guys,he putted us ALL to the ground without even making any strength at all,all you could feel was his hara throwing us down

  • It's just use of mass and lever system. Accelarating your weight around your axis in harmonious amplitude wave, adding more speed at crytical peaks and manipulating other persons mass as if part of your body. Transfer of this kinetic energy is commonly known as KI. You use "KI" energy when youswing a elephant on a swing.

The reason you do not see aikido at mma is because almost all the moves rely on breaking joints, which do not heal like normal bone fractures.

  • Most people have never had the technique put on them properly. If there's no strong fold at the wrist and elbow, it doesn't work so well. The bends are easy to get, just have to know what you're doing to get it. Wow, does it hurt. Lost a lot of new students that didn't want to tap out, and just never showed back up.

  • That will cause a lot of pain..

  • Problem again at the beginning?... the first thing that must learn an Aikidoka it´s to not lost the balance of the shoulders and not go up with the elbow.Principle, move the hips!!! A little gaeshiwasa training and the nage will see that uke can always respond with an ikkyo...

  • Your opponent in real life doesn't know what technique you will use.

  • this WILL work. being an Aikidoka i know that controlled realxation and letting your ki flow will get you out in this kind of scenario, and plus i did this technique last week in the dojo. my partner choked me as is for real and i escaped. really easy if you practice.

  • That could of been done alot better ,he could of at least got out of the way the attacker (uke) had a ball shot.

  • this does work really good and its painful too.

  • yes it does, and most have NO IDEA how much pain that causes. I could not belive how much it hurt the first time I had that used on me.

  • hell yea! you dont knwo what direction everything goes as youre being desoriented.. i still remeber the first time as well x]..

  • no offense but ur spelling is bad

maybe u just made a mistake tho

    who knows

  • This wont work.

  • lmao, this can pu your arm in 2 pieces if you resist and you say wont work? haha shure. :D

  • done like that of course not, but u'r lookin at a demonstration.

  • this doesnt work look at the shotokan one its way better and more realistic

  • In a self defense situation, your biggest ally is the element of surprise. This technique is effective only if you have trained yourself not to freeze upon initiation of the body's initial adrenaline rush. Once the body is prepared, this technique can be extremely effective. I do agree with one poster, however, who said atemi or mind changing strikes, especially to pressure points, would make it much more effective but often you don't have the time, better then to be fast.

  • I practising karate and thai boxing all together .. and i tell you IT IS work in the street I used it twice and it worked ,,, very good ... no fight just 1 lock and that over

  • Keep in mind that this technique is being shown in response to a particular attack..for those who say it wouldn't work in a street fight it would have to be done in response to whatever type of attack you get....When I teach this I usually teach it stepping back which takes the attacker off balance first, but it takes VERY little time to execute this technique.

  • That technique is impossible without atemi. Once the opponent grabs your neck like this in a real situation it will be a bit different from this video. You know I mean like if you dont use atemi you are dead

  • I have no problem with the technique. Sadly, this was just a terrible execution of it.

  • looks painful

  • looks dificult :S

  • chingen a su puta madre todos los de aikido me lamen los webos con sus llaves solo para eso sirven

  • I agree with this guy below....in a street fight its too difficult to apply.

  • I am not convinced in street fight.

  • Trust me, it's effective. I'm 5'2" and 120lbs, but I have used it successfully on much stronger opponents who had no intention of just letting me do it to them.

  • It is very effective, my master fight off 3 guys who broke into his house with aikido (but he teaches me judo though... )

  • I do t hai boxing, vale tudo, bjj and wrestling... And my master said to me in a street fight... RUN lol

  • mmmmmmmm eso qe

  • Callate cabron!

  • callate tu pinche pendejo!

  • jajaja ya te prendiste! No hay pedo. . . contestaste bastante rápido
