  • @mizofan - but don't we like gems like these the best that weren't released as singles?

They are like our own little private songs or discoveries that were not played on the radio. "my" other is Street Kids...

    True, my non-radio faves on this album were "Midnight Creeper" and "Have Mercy On The Criminal" when I was a kid. That's why albums are a good thing! You open the record to hear "Crocodile Rock" and the next thing you know you come to learn the words to "Elderberry Wine." (;

  • Elton é igual ao vinho, quanto mais velho melhor!

  • One of my top 5 Elton songs which is saying a helluva lot. It would have been a massive hit if released as a single.

  • I think the arrangements in this song are fantastic. As far as I am concerned this is a Elton John song I never get tired of.

  • This is my fave Elton Song - i never get tired of it!!

  • His best song ever. it will be played at my funeral.

  • Casarellaboy, il tuo commento è tra i più idioti e ignoranti che possano esistere. Vai, Sir Elton John, YOU'RE ALWAYS THE BEST ALL OVER THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wonder Elton ! ! ! !

  • Well, Elton can't hit some of the high notes that he used to, but in my opinion, his voice has a richer and more beautiful timbre to it than he possessed as a young man. Elton and his voice have aged like a fine wine. His songs will always be music to my ears!

  • well..... This song is wicked old but it is a good song i have it on my i-pod !! it is ok

  • che gran ricchionazzo!!!

  • This song doesn't get the credit it deserves!! It is one of his greatest songs!! LOVE IT

  • so much better now then 35 years ago :)

  • A hidden treasure, amaz lyrics....but his voice was much better 35 yrs. ago.

  • I love this song. It makes me cry whenever I listen to it.

  • Of course he sounds a little different than about 40 years ago. A little out of tune in the beginning. But he is in his 60s, and this song is amazing, one of my favorites. I hope he will be singing this in Helsinki 10.10.2009. I'll be there, flying high!

  • did elton sing high flying bird at helsinki

  • No he didn't, but the concert was great anyway ; )

  • This song to me always was dedicated to my big crush

Jonna Benedict#14 where ever you are

I have you in my heart always.

    JM

  • Singing along ...........

  • Here's my setlist for a REAL come back concert:

Your Song, Blues For Baby and Me, Razor Face, Slow Rivers, Dear John, The Cage, The Boy in the Red Shoes, Susie Dramas, Breaking Hearts, Grimsby, Paris, Big Dipper, Son of Your Father, Birds, Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters part two, Amy, Chasing the Crown, Billy Bones, Amoreena, Rotten Peaches, Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, Goodbye (leaves the stage for ten minutes then comes back and plays) Grow Some Funk of Your Own! then leaves.

  • Don't forget "I guess That's why they Call it the Blues!!!"

  • Blues has been sung for years and I really want Elton to switch it with something else

  • Das ist sooooooooooooo romantisch!!!!!!!

  • Wow, nice to hear it live with the voice he has now. Love this song...one of the best from this album.

  • Why didn't he play this song more often???

  • I have no idea. It's so beautiful and so much better than the likes of crocodile rock

  • Crocodile Rock is a classic and always will be... but agreed this is an AMAZING tune.

  • this is the first time that I have ever heard this song and it just brought tears to my eyes. If the song on the album is better than this than I have got to hear it because this is awesome.

  • top song from years ago that brings back memories

  • This is my favourite song of his. Id love to hear an acoustic version.

  • At 1:52, Ozzy and Sharon were there. That just goes to show everyone loves Elton John.

  • sir elton was 47 and a half wen i was born and i love listening to his music going to my second concert soon :D!

  • 46* haha

  • Great great song from a great album.

  • One of my all-time favorite EJ songs... Incredible tune!

  • This, along with Daniel, Answer in the Sky and Love Song and Dont Let the Sun Go Down On Me are my favorites. Never thought I'd hear him sing this one live! What a bonus!

  • I "grew up" with Elton. I always felt that for every single that sold a billion copies there were songs like this that were just as good. He was simply prolific. The ultimate balladeer...

  • great song off a great album. the album version is much better, but hey, he's 60, cut him some slack. The finale, "My High Flying, High Flying Bird" still gives me goosebumps when I hear it.

  • I love this song but it is so much more lovely on the old album. His voice is a lot different nowadays. To me Elton is the old Elton from the 60's and early 70's.

  • So true!

  • wow i never realized untill i heard this how much his voice has changed...thanks for posting

  • Thanks for posting this! I haven't heard this song in 20 years! Love it. Very touching.

  • He is the ultimate performer ... He and Bernie Taupin made great music and lyrics ......some of the best music to come from that era.;)

  • to miss a; i am greatful that you liked this, i though you would get it. mr milo and his human rick. peace.

  • @MissAnthropic66 Elton and Bernie are still coming up with great stuff- The Union album with Leon Russell is Elton's best since the mid 70s

  • i love this song more than life itself

  • Thanks very much for posting this!! It's absolutely one of my favorite songs, has been for a long time now.:-)

  • A great song, Elton u should play this and songs like ballad of a well known gun more often!!
