I don't know why people are getting so uptight, relax, it's a video of college kids or whatever makind some espresso. Anyways I have that machine... the Breville... and it's going back... for the second time... because it's a piece of shit and it's broken... for the second time. Anyone know a good machine, not at 3000$ but more at like 200$ or less. Max 250. Considering delonghi.
1) You cannot use preground coffee to make espresso. Fresh espresso beans go rancid after a month of being roasted, and ground coffee goes rancid within 15 minutes.
2) You are using a pressurized basket. The pinhole mechanism to generate fake crema.
Search for proper espresso on youtube. It should drip out like honey or thick cream. NOt the watery, sour swill that came out of your machine!
@ezralimm There is no such things as espresso bean. It's called espresso blend and is most often roasted somewhere from Viennes roast to French roast profiles. Coffee beans are also best from day 3-15 after being roasted. I could do ok(nothing special) with 20 days old beans but 30 days old beans no thank you.
@klarinetta Lol semantics. Beans are beans true that. Im a home roaster and coffee enthusiast. When i mention "espresso beans" I am referring to beans roasted as you mentioned, made mostly of Arabica. There are other types of coffee out there. Especially if you are from Asia, where a different way of roasting predominantly robusta beans is used - over heat, in a big wok, roasted WITH BUTTER AND SUGAR (!). I tend to finish my home roasted beans in 2 weeks. I push most beans to early second crack.
Not really scientific. With good technique (and probably medium) the semiauto will beat the Macchinetta.
You need to learn to use it before you judge which one is the better product. It's as if you're saying a manual car is really slow because you're just hitting the gas while in neutral and an automatic is wonderful and fast.
Damn nerds! First machine: RTFM! and YES u have to put water in the tank! u forgot to tamp, it must have sucked.
second machine: pathetic! u didnt manage to brew coffee the easiest way possible. STFW! get a life! u make god cry bloody tears! (the chick is kinda hot though)

That is not real espresso.
