  • sounds like a chainsaw lol

  • haha! I have an 1988 pulse. It makes that exact same noise as the one in your video and the pipe coming out of the side of the house sounds like the exhaust on an old car. It is a good furnace, though. Knock on wood, I haven't had any problems with it. My central A/C is also Lennox of course. The fan unit outside is from 1976 and still going strong.

  • Your furnace sounds like a lawn mower. Mine is very quiet. But it has problems that I can't troubleshoot. Everytime my furnace turns on, it emits a gass smell. Then I start to get dizzy, sleepy, and nauseated. Do I have a gas leak? Should I call the gas company for help?

  • My furnace isn`t heating my house evenly, if that makes sense. The air doesn`t feel hot in the bedrooms on the 2nd floor? Then sometimes the ignitor lights up, then it turns off, it won`t flame up.

  • Does anyone know how to clean the burners on a lennox pulse g14?

  • @Claytonhill85 There are no burners to clean on the pulse, heat exchanger is a sealed unit, furnace should be inspected annually by a qualified lennox tech that is familiar with this type of equipment

  • I have one installed for years and cant be more pleased with the quietness and effeciency.. A few things may go wrong but it pays for itself in quiet pleasure and savings. I haven't had a thing go wrong however. Have a CO2 detector in basement next to it, has never gone off.

  • Gotta 2008 Lennox Elite furnace installed in my house as the original 1988 piece of shit coleman furnace was slowly dying. The guy in my town that installs mainly Heil furnaces and AC's wanted to put another coleman in and we said F that went to a diff place and got the new Lennox heats amazingly! and more efficient. Getting outside 1987 Heil Ac condensor and coil replaced with the elite condensor and coil next summer. old one cant keep up.

  • I love it. Get a co detector? The thing when it runs produce such a low co level the co detector won't go off. What they don't tell people that most co detectors won't go off under 25ppm. And it happens that most pulses produce well under 50ppm. The windows in the house will tell you more about it than a co detector will.

And dude get a new gas flapper assem. It will quite down your furnace. And basically eliminate the canny sound.

  • Back when Lennox made great products, keep it going for as long as possible!

  • These furnaces really are quite efficient around 94-98% depending on the manufacture. Which is really good for being built in 1986.

  • whats funny is that my father and i just replaced this same unit with a new goodman unit today, the heat exchanger went bad.

  • Lennox people themselves said they wouldn't put lennox in their house..BULLSHIT.IMO Lennox was allways ahead of their time starting with the 2 speed and pulse funaces.I would hear people at the supply houses saying that 2 speeds are junk. It's because all them dumbasses couldn't fix them.I can't tell you how many times we went out on a second opinion because other companies said the unit was bad and needed to be changed and 1 part would be bad like a relay, contactor, compressor, interlock switch.

  • Have the heat exchanger pressure tested every four years as required by Lennox to check for leaks. Too bad all heat exchangers cannot be pressure tested its the most accurate way to determine if there is excessive leakage.

  • I love how people are up in arms about co and the pulse. if anything I'd worry more about CO with a "clamshell" heat exchanger of the pulses secondary heat exchanger ANYDAY! yes the secondarys leak and leak small amounts of CO but, nothing close to as a rupture from a clamshell. I never did understand why anybody thought the pulse was a good idea just for the noise factor. I sure wouldnt have wanted to spend a few thousand dollars to have what sounds like a lawn tractor running.

  • That very well may be, but how old is he co alarm and how accurate is it? Once again I can't stress this enough have it checked by a professional prior to use,( it's your life, you only get 1) I don't trust them

  • @YodaPala It's a first alert, one of those dual ones that talks to you, I first noticed it when I was home making this video so it's probably with in the past two years

  • @YodaPala unless its a low level CO detector no store bought detector really "alerts" you until theres some serious levels in the home.

  • @myclang Thats correct, they only go off when there is "oh shit!" levels.

I have a bacharach one thats very accurate.

  • trying to troubleshoot one now !!

  • @soulfultenor

throw it away, save your life

  • @teclec it's not mine LOL, I live right behind lockes heating and air I gotta go by there tomorrow to get them to inspect it, the owner wants to do that before he decided to buy a new one.

  • Bryant 355CAV. Thee best in all catagories, except one.The assholes who distribute it.Yes,that's Peirce-Phelps Inc. They suck more then Richard Simmons,or Barney Frank. What distributor makes you pay up front for a warranty part, even though you have the old part with you ? Bryant Evolution,or Carrier Infinity are the quietest gas furnesses on the market. That's a FACT ! Lennox is a good product but the people behind the counter are arrogant, rude, and unfriendly.

Dave, you need to check up on that !

  • my house has one of these, it is full of mold and was clogged up with water in the exhaust just below the muffler, taking it out this saturday.

  • Well, my furnace is probably in worser shape than this one, considering its 30+ years old and makes this really deep windup sound.

  • lennox pulse is the absolute WORST furnace ever made. what kind of furnace needs a muffler? Trane furnaces are the way to go. most efficient furnace out there and so quiet you can hear your heating bill drop.

  • @surk27 Not really. What did trane have in 86? My local HVAC buddies i have worked with joke that Trane got their name "cause they sound like one". I could probably go through all the information on this particular furnace however it doesn't matter they havent been made in years. By the way Lennox is still on top, most of their furnaces are the quietest on the market. As well the new SLP 98V is back to the 98% AFUE rating. Dont forget Lennox owns Ducane, and Armstrong.

  • @ahutf lennox is only on top because its cheaper to install for all the builders. my company is all retro fit and we used to install tempstar junk. i'll admit lennox is more reliable than a tempstar but worse to work on. they put screws in backwards so u have to rip out more shit than u need to. I've talked to lennox dealers and they even said they wouldn't want one in this house.

  • That is a great furnace I had one a never had a problem with it.

  • @dizziedallas They are reliable indeed, but the exchangers are FAIL, I found 4 bad heat exchangers in one week. HAVE IT CHECKED BY A PROFESSIONAL BEFORE USING FOR THE SEASON. The heat exchanger needs to be totally sealed off with plugs, heat exchanger pressurized with air, and make sure it holds pressure., (leakdown test) Good luck

  • @dizziedallas we should make a pact that if either of us comes across one these to make a video and describe how truly easy the anatomy of combustion is. Don't get me wrong the first time i saw one of these it put me in a bad mood but luckily we had a tech in my service department that worked for a lennox dealer that showed me everything their is to it.

  • @topdoozie1 That furnace does have the tendency to put alot of tect in a bad mood LOL! But like you said its not that bad.

  • That sounds just like my friends Nitro powered Rc car

  • lennox furnaces made today are a flimsy P.O.S. compared to the quality made in the pulse furnace

  • 96% AFUE in 1982 when all the other one wore 76-78% AFUE... and by the way... they fail because of lack of maintenance..... maybe Lennox didn't tell owner to change some parts every 4 years..... but in my book maintenance is still the owner's responsability !!

By the Way I have in stock a replacement heat exchanger kit for a G14- 80K BTU... anyone interested ??

  • Hell, given the state of some of the 'traditional' furnaces that are posted here on youtube, I'd rather take my chances with the lennox

  • @uwtitanfan Well that being said, you plan to die very soon eh? have fun choochin the CO, Good luck

  • @YodaPala In the 13 years that my parents house has had a CO alarm, it's never gone off once and it's always passed the leak down test when dad has inspected every year. Try again Yoda

  • sounds like my 3hp outboard motor

  • nice vid

  • I have worked on many. Was a real good furnace top of the line in its day. No other furncae comes close to it's 98% efficiency. I have had to replace quite a few however there are still quite a few out there that are still good and running like a top.
