  • NO NO NO!! very bad fingering!! And tempo!!! Michael Chapdelaine is not even good at guitar!! Sounds like a mechanical man!! Watch Michael C. With Segovia, you will see this man is a worthless musician!

  • @supraludwick83 I have to disagree. Everything I've seen this guy play is impressive. He has some really cool arrangements and pays close attention to detail. This guy's top notch.

  • Did anyone give him permission to play on that rock?

  • FANTASTIC .... I would love to see MC jam with Sungha ...... Marty Schwartz (youtube teacher par excellaaance .. check him out doing "Ain't No Sunshine") ... Tommy Emmanuel (Australian all over utube since day one)...

Hmmm ... that should do it ... maybe get Clapton to pop in .. and John Mayer and Keith Urban ... WoW !!! Only in my dreams ... = ]

  • very dangerous man! ( the playing ^^) )

wich guitar do ya use? it sounds soo warm

  • @Combinia That looks to me to be a muiderman guitar. Actually made in ND by a plastic surgeon. Very nice guitars.

  • @amorical thanx for a great reply :)

  • Cool

  • ;)

  • thumbs up if you came here cuzza sungha!

  • @sorryeyebrows77 Why would you proclaim such a thing that implies that Sungha might be as good or even close to as good as MC? Sungha is excellent at guitar...FOR HIS AGE!

  • this guy rocks!!

  • what a genious idea of musicvideo, standing on top of a rock with a lake/pond (what so ever) underneath you! =P

    great song!

  • Is it just me or is his groove off? Definitely some tasty stuff, but just doesn't groove. Would love to see Adam Rafferty have a go at this tune.

  • Who da fuck is even capable of giving a negative vote to Chapdelaine ?

Are you people freaking tasteless and complete idiots ?

  • that was awesome!!!

I had never heard of this guy before, but am now a fan. Keep the videos coming brotha!!!

  • damm this guy is good.

  • well yeah ok the guy can play but he really needs a haircut! :-p

  • well yeah ok the guy can play but he really needs a haircut! :-p

  • I think this is his best arrangement. There is not anyone on YT who has this one down like Chapdelaine. 2;20 to 2:24 is nearly impossible to do.

  • I love Chapdelaine's arrangements, but not this one. The fractured rhythm is annoying.

  • are you guys serious? is this really that good? i don't get it. it doesn't sound nice

  • Seriously? He's got the bass running throughout, plus the melody and the rhythm, with some leads and percussion thrown in - all at the same time? On one instrument? By himself? I'd call that gooooood... and he's barefoot.

  • haha , you know a guys good when he's standing in the middle of a lake and has been described as a "guitar champion"

  • Michael est extraordinaire , sa technique est époustouflante de rigueur et de précision, plus on écoute ses doigts et plus on regarde ses notes....de plus, l'homme est d'une gentillesse à la hauteur de sa musique. Merci.

  • @ mrmrvince

Do you honestly think that a guitarist with the technical skill of Chapdelaine would make a mistake like that?

  • The epitome of timing and feel in my opinion. (unlike the guy who posted below me) Awesome work Chapdelaine.

  • Que exito, es una maestro y hace magia con sus manos.

    Maravilloso, hermoso, gracias

    Johanna

  • 2:01 lol

  • My favorite solo on YT. I guess Forcione's version is okay but this is as good as it gets.

  • excellent!!

  • Assomiglia un pochetto a Come Together dei Beatles....Comunque bella ugualmente.

  • 0:19 so groove!

  • Great Job!!

  • a very nice song, played from a great guitarist :D

  • So so clever and yet he's lost the REAL groove

  • great playing, but the video is gay.... i would rather have something where i can see his hands etc, not shots of the lake etc

  • quite good! ..nowhere near Antonio Forcione version.

  • How can Segovia kick his ass?The man died 20 years ago :/

  • Mike Chapdelaine played in a couple of masterclasses for Segovia. I thought Mike played great for him. Segovia reprimanded Chapdelaine because he didn't use his fingerings. There is Youtube footage of the classes.

  • @gtrs4life

I heard that he reprimanded Parkening for not using Bach's fingerings - quite a different situation. Not to say that Segovia wasn't the master that he was, but just seemed to always have something to say whether there was any obvious "mistakes" or not. There is nothing wrong with playing perfect - especially so with classical pieces. Only a musical genius would ever recognize whether a "mistake" was made or not. Segovia seemed to enjoy taking the pleasure out of playing.

  • @fairlyfast1 I don't think he ever reprimanded Parkening. Bach doesn't have fingerings for guitar. Segovia loved Parkening. In fact, once CP was in a competition where Segovia was judging and the other competitors complained that Segovia would be partial to Parkening (because of their mutual respect for each other) making the scales unbalanced. Segovia solved the problem by making Parkening a judge - this story is in the liner notes of CP's Tribute to Segovia CD.

  • After Segovia kicked his ass he never recovered from a broken spirit.

  • Segovia was his teacher man! God i hate attention whores

  • Very good

  • I loved the second half where he broke into a much bluesier R'n'rR rendition. Top marks. Thanks!

  • Love listening to you, Thanks !

  • Wow great version, I better get practicing!

  • Wow!!!

  • Lovely.

    Sheba

  • just beautiful Michael....thanks so much for sharing. I envy his playing

  • amazing picker....makes me wanna give up. Thanks for sharing

  • Let him be an Inspiration and target, not competition xD

Otherwise, we would all be screwed

  • and i heard it through youtube ... :D !

  • awesome!

  • Awesome.

  • best player on utube is deffinitely edgar cruz !

  • the best guitar player on utube!

  • outstanding...the best of the best....

who needs a VOX stack when you can play like this

  • I like this guitarrist.

    Thanks for posting

  • Wow!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A lotta soul coming out of that guitar!!!!! I can't help but jump up and groove across the floor. Thanks for sharing.

  • I am in awe. very *g*o*o*d

  • brilliant

  • Looks like a rosewood guitar :) I R in love

A la mierda Yankee hijotuta, no tienes ninguna sensibilidad para la guitarra y eres un puto pachanguero (so now yankees fans translate this I could have done it but I prefer you to learn Spanish).

    Chimpún.

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO GET THIS TAB?

  • you can buy it from his website,, u must pay for this though.

Another very nice performance is the only thing to add =)

  • Is that statue the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue ?

anyway you pay a great homage to the rock'n'roll!

  • this man is fire. he's super dope. I don't normally talk about guitarist but man. I one day hope to aspire to be half as good as he is.

  • good old creedence song

  • Marvin Gaye

  • Nice playing Proff.

  • Both Forcione and Chapdelaine are two greats: I prefer Chapdelaine fort his particular song.

  • I wish i new how to play :( love it

  • i prefer this version, more fun, upbeat, less unecessarily subtle like AF

  • Forcione is quality as is Chapdelaine. Dont believe the two can be compared. Both quality guitarists in their own right with contrasting styles. I could listen to them both all day (in fact I do ha ha)

  • wow!!!you sounds very good.....

  • 10 for the music, 10 for the player, only 9.99 for the vid. The statue doesn't take off.

  • Holy cr*p! This is amazing!

  • THis video 10 stars video

  • Awesome!! Beautyful version!!!

  • ah man, when someone is this good it makes me a bit sad that i'm so shit! v.impressed but a bit sad.

  • dont get sad!!!

get encouraged, when ever i hear pple that sound better then me, i push it till i sound like them

  • This is good check a different version you will NOT be disappointed :) Antonio Forcione 'I HEARD it THROUGH the GRAPEVINE'

  • I agree. Feels like im wearing headphones

  • NICE GUITAR SOUND

  • Wow! Did you go to East High?

  • No, East High seemed like a great place for this video. It did not hurt that it was across the street from the TV station, either. - jf

  • Well I go to East and it is a great place! And they have an amazing orchestra program that I'm in. And yeah, being across from the t.v. station doesn't hurt. haha XD

  • is this standerd tuning or open what make is michael's guitar I don't compare guitarist I just love to hear them all this guys fantastic, thankyou MIKE

  • absolutely mesmerizing. when you are in a league like this, why bother comparing who is better than whom? pointless, and almost unfair. brilliance respects brilliance. it's hacks like me who tend to envy and compare.

  • Yeah, Yeah but can he play Guitar Hero?!?!

  • lol

  • lmao ur right, i play guitar, but i suck at gh

  • He's amazing

  • the real deal ...i doubt that ill informed criticism wil phase Chap after i heard the Segovia master class video....damn who knew classical guitar was so hardball?

  • is here anyone who can post ..where i can download the guitarpro 5 version ??

  • I just got turned onto this guy. I've been playing for 40 years. I play solo and looped performances and I'd hate to follow this artist. He has a very graphic feel and phenomenal ability. Guys like Beansouthisbutt99 just need to post something a quarter this good before I'd comment on their bs.

  • if you think that chapdalaine needs to practice more then why dont you listen to him play "come together" and then say that just look it up and listen to it then see if he needs your advice

  • Listen to Tommy Emmanuel Day tripper/lady madonna now that's class with an abundance of technique flair and most importantly groove

  • good try, the tempo is pretty fucked up for alot of this, practice with a metronome is my advice, you need to establish a groove- good effort though

  • Dear Beanson99, Are you from outerspace or something? This is Michael Chapdelaine!!! Outdoors, acoustic, without amplification, with lots of traffic and disturbances. The signal was direct from the pickup. Your critique shows your own lack of experience. If I am wrong you will have no problem posting your own improved definitive performance of a compatible arrangement in a similar situation soon.

  • .. and since when does establishing a groove involve a metronome? Do you even understand the concept?

  • Wow beanson, the ingriedients that constitute your remark appear to be equal parts of hubris and ignorance. Seriously, try informing yourself before you critique a master musician. The things people write in these comments never ceases to amaze me. It's as if this site is really just an enormous, ongoing dumbass contest (by the way, you're winning at the moment beanson).

  • Beanson99 wins. He is so far ahead that I thought you might think he was cheating in the dumbass contest. It is pretty unbelieveable that someone could be that dumb but I don't think he cheated. I think he won on his own merit.

  • lol artdever .. ur officially the king of sarcasm!

  • Comparing Chapdelaine and Emmanuel is foolish nonsense. Both are gifted talented virtuosos, and there are many others. What arrogance makes a young kid think he has the qualifications to determine if one virtuoso is better than another. Why do kids think that after two years of copying tab and playing in their bedrooms they are qualified to pontificate about the abilities of pro musicians who have spent their lives studying their craft.

  • wats the difference between a kid that plays guitar in his bedroom as to someone who plays infront of a crowd? both determined and alot of the time the kid is more so. but yes, u do have a point in some sense

  • I have played for 20 years and to be fair you cant compair the two because Emmanuels techiniques, tone, and natural feel for the intrument is far superior to this guys. Im only telling the truth if you dotn like what im saying then unlucky

  • Maybe you'd like to check some of Michael Chapdelaine's other work? Seen his version of California Dreaming?

  • Actually I find both Michael and Tommy equally influential. Both with a unique perspective on the fretboard. I prefer not to speculate who is better, I learn off both of them.

  • Thank You! Someone had to say it. I am sick of kids screaming give-me tabs. There is a lot of talented musicians that allow their work to be posted and I am gratiful for the learning experience. Each one of these artist contribute substantially to the music culture and this comparison crap is pure bunk.

  • ArrowJFH. thank you, could not have said is better myself.

  • Wow this guy is really good -- just different then tommy Emmanuel. I think it's crazy to compare styles like this.

  • love that introooo

  • You people that are saying he has a "poor musical ear" or "doesn't capture the feeling" of the song need psychiatric treatment!!

  • bill frisell is the fucking shit!

  • it's nice, but it seems like he's missing a lot of the "feeling" of the song... it's not nearly as moody. the best contemporary cover I've heard of this song is Bill Frisell's, from his East/West live album.

  • true but still tommy is much more talented but like i say there both very good

  • Tommy does not play the classical repertoire. Michael can play it all. It requires techniques that are foreign to most steel string players. Yes, Tommy is phenomenal, but you are comparing apples with oranges.

  • if you like this guy check out edgar cruz 'bohemien rhapsody' and 'crazy little thing called love' peace. ace version by the way

  • "good player with a poor musical ear"

what the fucking hell have you been smoking? pubes?!

  • tommy emmanuel is nuthin tothis guy.... believe me i know him personally...

  • yea hes prityy good not the best tho but good u wana here a real good guitarist check out tommy emanual austrailan fella amazing

  • you can't compare tommy and chapdelaine they have a diffrend style of playing. both are great!

  • Them as can, does. Them as can't, teaches. Them as can't teach, criticize. This one can.

  • Michael can and does, but then he also teaches. He is the chair of guitar at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He has also won the most prestigious competitions in the world for both classical and fingerstyle guitar.

  • whoa some people actually say that he's not that good? he's amazing! that would be really hard to do!

  • yeah but that are people who never can play like him

  • Just compare with Antonio Forcione's version. I personally think one is a good player with a poor musical ear, and the other is a class act.

  • Your comparison seems just a bit odd. I feel that most people will see two great players, playing under two totally different circumstances in extremely different environments. Both are very musical.

  • jeeeeez so much unnecessary criticism, just sit back and enjoy the music dude

  • Had never heard of this guy, but I really liked this cover.

  • if i had the talent he does in just one of his fingers, id be happy..

  • man that guy is just awsum he has to be one of the best around how can people say he isnt good he has the awards to prove it u dont get them if u aint good

  • Some people say that he is not that good. thats not true. He is the best fingerstyle/classical guitarist I ever saw
