  • The horses a super fit and rarely hurt themselves.

  • at 0:36, look at the guys face! XD

  • I've always been against cross country even though I ride dressage. I feel really sorry for the horses

  • @cecilia200879 Why? Most horses I know love cross country. It can put you off if all you see is on the internet though- the ugly jumps do get more "press" then the nice ones lol I may be a little biased though, being an eventer and all

  • i feel bad when them and their horses fall from a jump and hurt themselves i hope they are ok

  • on the indiviual medels in third it was mary king and call again cavalier not kristina cook and miners frolic!!

  • 2:09, lol PANDA!

  • That's awesome at 0:26!!

  • the games were in hongkong not in Beijing

  • why is it only pictures

  • I love how in the first pictures of the drop into water everyone is so intense and concentrated and then comes William Fox Pitt looking uber relaxed and chilled out.

  • preparing to go see the xcountry at the 2012 games. any advice?

  • @genehardman make sure you walk the xc course with the riders!!

  • the asian guy with the grey horse at 3.57 he fell off in the water didn't he? or near the water, and i also believe that they said his horse was an anglo arab? you don't see many of them competing at that level!

  • @rotansilversplash my riding trainer has like i don't 4 ang-arabs. one is a stallion.

  • @AustralianWolf11 thats cool, i had one in 2007, there really nice, but i probz wouldn't get another one

  • Stupid Copyright! great vid xD

  • good music choice!

  • lol at the guy at 0:41

  • it must be scary 4 the riders

  • @alltheovers Sometimes, but once you're in the start box, adrenaline kicks in and all you think about is getting around quick and inside the time. Finishing a XC course is the best thing in the entire world!

  • That course looks amazing!

    Rolex doesn't really compare lol

  • 1:45 is the most gorgeous horse! :D

  • whats the name of this song?

  • when i jump i laugh so if ya hear a girl laugh in a comp then its me when i first jumped my mum said it looked like ive been doing it for years!!!GOOD SONG!

  • I love the rider's faces!! I wish I had funny pictures like that...whenever I jump, I just have this totally blank look!

  • @horsegirlmaddy lolz

  • @horsegirlmaddy I have better faces ;) When ever I go over a jump I have this detirmined/ thinking/ umpf! look on my face... Hilarious

  • haha! me too! i think it's cause you don't have any time to think and you just do! i also find myself holding my breath over jumps!

  • What song is this?

  • hey its jump

  • The horses look like there having fun

  • Do you really think so?

  • @19lilprincezz90

    Yuppers :D

  • im just sayin, i have a mare who came off the track, and for dressage, she pins her ears and argues, but when you go out on xc, and point her towards a jump, she pricks her ears and starts poppin her head up and down, ha, you can tell all these horses love it!

  • The number 3 is my boss Peter Thomsen with The Ghost of Hamish

  • so dangerous but we still ride lol gotta love horses xoxoxoxo seymour and ribbon

  • If cross country took the jumps where the horse goes into water, then I'd be all for it. Don't you think it is stupid to jump into water that your horse doesn't know how deep it is? Would you do that on your own, not on a horse? NO WAY!

  • I know megan jones in person :) shes my friends mums boss, my friends mum is her manager ;D and my instructer is her student. I've also been to her farm and pat her horse! so cute a awesome! her cross country horse is sick as!

  • the horses are too tired, to jump the last jumps,,

  • i got a lesson by the one and only GINA MILES!!!! (usa-individual silver medalist) see her at 1:40 and 2:13 and 3:25

  • Yes, the sport is quite hard on the horses, but most of them LOVE cross country. I know it looks like the riders pull on the horse's mouth, but you have to keep a connection in order to stay in control. Horses at this level are running flat out, and if you don't have a connection to balance before a jump, it could get very unsafe.

But man, that pic at 1:57 is intense!

  • @ponyluv567 and to keep the horse more alert.

  • my horse duchgerman hates water jumps but, our water jumps are much smaller(:

  • thanx :)

  • what is the name of this song? and its a really good vid!! definitely one of my favorites :)

  • Jump - Van Halen

  • Well would you rather have long reins and pull on your horses mouth so you have control or have no control at all? My trainer has me ride with different rein legnth all the time so I know what its like. Sure a shorter rein would be easier to control the horse, but CC is a TOTALLY diffferent type if riding so dont judge people :)

  • yeah, alot of the riders are pulling when the horse goes up...

but xc takes alot of guts.

i'd be scared of the solid jumps. Dx

  • how is it mean? if a horse didnt want to do it they wouldnt.

  • It's quite rough on the horse.

  • wow that looks mean, they pull the horse in the mouth every time.

  • well a lot of the time the reins arent actually straining against the horses mouth, they are just tight enough to be straight and therefore look like it. and they are doing a thing called a quick release as they go over the jump so it looks as if they are pulling constantly but they arent :)

  • mein sport *__*

  • im pretty sure western riders ruin their horses way more than this. Don't judge it, if you don't know what its about!

  • How about you notice that she is German and says "my sport" and not "mean sport" before you judge her?

  • Sorry i dont know everyone's background on here. But in America that word would be pronounced mean with the wrong spelling. I will not make that mistake again, sorry.

  • yeah whats the song?

  • Its called 'Jump' But idk who sings it

  • oooooh, i think its by van halen maybe

  • Van Halen

  • whats this song called?

  • jump

  • Do u also have a slide show of the sj and dressage phases.

  • just read the full slideshow description to understand WHY....

  • a bunch of people have put up video, if it was actually yours, there's nothing they can do about it. You own it.

  • omg look at their faces lol i love having somone take pics of me over a jump it is sooo funny ha ha ha lofl

  • Why do these great vids always have such crappy music?

  • some of those landings looked like they hurt.

  • geez i never got to see the equestrian portion of the games - i'm so dissapointed.

  • I know!! I wanted to see it so badly then missed it :(

  • @kaymm93 yer it was really good eventing is awesome and i event . horses love cross country . its mst probably the fav 4 the riders aswell

  • @kaymm93

I didn't even know there were any equestrian games in the olympics anymore since you never see them... o.O

  • wow i loved waching the horses jump the box drop jump there faces were ever so funny !! That horse started to weave 1:2 way threww x 0 x

  • LOVE IT!

  • 1.18 min frank ostholt:-)

  • Poor, that we may not see taller horses in

    competition

  • Non repect !

  • look at th peoples faces on the drop jump. ahahaha

  • the horse at 2:10 looks ever so familiar :/

  • ahahaahha i love their faces on the drop jump. sooo funny

  • the tape is used to stop roaring, or to put it in simple terms, helps it to breath better

  • haha 1:52 fish jump xD

But at 1:30 +++ why do the horse has tape on its mole?

  • do you have karin donckers ?

  • i was wondering... on the first horse, what is the grey patch under the noseband/what does it do?

  • i think that helps its airways, so it can breath easier x

  • Thankyou!

  • something about keeping the airways clear, i've read...google it mate

  • yeahh also heard that since the air in beijing was so smoggy and they were really concerned about the breathing issues of the horses

    guess they solved that =]

  • i prefer videos

  • at 0.26 thts peerfect

  • At 1:20 there is Andrew Nicholson!

    YAY! He's my idol =]

That was a pretty awesome cross country course, though. I liked the different themes they had for jumps.

  • hi please e-mail rockey6789 and tell me how to make a vidio

  • great vid gd pics can u tell me the name of the song please it would b helpfull !

  • good video =)

  • what song is this?

  • :( i missed the dressage, and i wanted to watch william fox pitt's ride :(

  • To watch the xc phase in UK, we had to wait until 2am for the first competitior, i stayed up 2 nights running to see the jumping coverage :|

    wasn't impressed

  • The Olympics and Rolex are my two biggest dreams someday... and yes, there was HORRIBLE equestrian coverage (America)

  • 2 bad your neva gunnaw geeet thr !!!

  • ...im glad to see some are supportive of others

    *sarcasm*

  • Don't be such a dickface. I doubt (with that grammar) you will ever get ANYWHERE. Ever ridden a horse? Hm. I would shut up.

  • I agree.

  • i bet anyone who rides horses seriously dreams about going to the olympics one day

  • no shit sherlock

  • geez someones cranky today

  • not me !!!!

  • It's definitely as bad as it is in America. NBC did a horrible job and, mostly & especially in the dressage, left out alot of good competitors including American competitors.

  • Schrecklich was die Ihren Pferden da antun.

  • I love the video.

The US eq coverage was HORRID.

i had to watch it all after it happened on the internet because it only played on oxygen and i don't get that channel. it was horrid.

  • i love xcountry :)

  • GO MEGAN AND FESTY!!! love you guys!!!! great vid btw xxx

  • sorry i mean video

  • well done, great vi

  • people do carzy crap and don't care for there horses

  • the XC wasnt really all that great. the jumps themselves were cool with the theme, but the course was kinda boring.

  • Hello, I'm a french girl, and I love horse riding, it's my hobby !!

Your vidéo is very good and the photo arevery nice...

  • I, too, was disappointed by the lack of equestrian coverage on TV. I'm in the midwest of the U.S. and the equestrian coverage was poorly done in my opinion.

  • my dad went to bejing for the olympics.

    he works for mcdonalds corperation.

  • 0:56 is looking fantastic

  • I was there =D It was amazing =)

  • please, if u agree or disagree with my bellow comment leave me a comment on my page.

not trying to start an argument

i just want other peoples opinion on it.

    x

    ps

i do know what i am talking about when i said the bellow comment

i ride, affiliated eventing and am aiming for 2012 on my new ride. and my dad trains national hint horses. so please don't think what i am saying is made up or stupid

    xx

  • i agree with this comment whosinthebag. I have been to events & have heard people saying stuff like "oh you won the dressage, you'll probably win the whole comp now..." its so annoying when there are 2 other phases besides dressage in eventing & the dressage is considered 'better' than showjumping & cross country.

  • thanks soo much

i was beggining to think i was the only one in eventing hu liked x country

i'm not saying dressage shouldn't be a factor i just think that x country should have more of an influence upon the results and even though no one made the x country time

it made the most significant diffrence, making it far more exciting

  • i wanna say

the olymipics was a turning point in modern eventing

for a long tiime, and in my opinion, a too longer time eventing has been to dressage orientated, and the x country has had no other part to play in the competition but as tradition.

how ever in this olymipics although the time was almost impossible to make, the x country had a real dessicive role to play

how can people claim to love a sport when at the most sort after event in the world, they critise it for being to fast

  • dressage is most important b/c without it, you willl have undertrained horses out their breaking their necks.

Cross country is meant to be fast, but accidents happen. Why do you think they are add x country pins to the hard jumps? Safety first.

But to attack the sport, riders, or the horses is a bit much, considering in eventing we try very hard to keep both horses and riders safe.

  • i think u misunderstood me

i do agree that flat work is the basis and most important in starting all horses young and old

i just feel after everyone comlaining before the olympics that x country was not quiet so dessicive that the moment it does become the most important part people complain about it, due to the fast time

  • What's the name of the horse at 0:47??

  • GOD YES. I turned a channel at like, five AM, because I woke up, and Dressage was on. I was like WTF?!

  • i was so at the olympics!!! i saw alot of these

  • i agree! the coverage of the equestrian was total crap... oh well.

    great song!

  • how do you transport a horse to china?

  • Via a plane, mainly

  • are you serious!? i didn't know you could actually fly a horse anywhere! don't they freak out during take off?

  • These horses probably not. They do it so much!Horses are flone in crate like things. They are just large enough for the horse to stand up, they can't move around but it is still padded. It is kinda like a trailor.

  • Yea USA did have a good year in eventing.....

  • that was great the only prob is they r makin the cross country fences so dangerous now i heard that it is all so more peeps will watch and it is really hurting the horses and riders

  • I dont think they're making them harder for audience appeal. The fences have become more technical because the quality of riding has improved. The problem is, if 50% come in double clear on XC, it becomes a dressage competition (which no one really wants). But the increased technicality means less room for error, thus increased likelihood of falls. I dont think is has to do with spectator appeal, despite what some of the recent shows on tv have said.

  • Not really. There are alot of things making it safer for horse and rider. Like frangibal safty pins, better XC vests, medical ID armbands, XC greese for horses laegs, and alot of other things. This is a big problem with the USEA.

  • none of these things help!

I lost a horse out xc Just 2 weeks ago,

riding at 1* level, the sport needs to change and stop killing and injuring horses and riders

  • I'm very sorry about your horse! But it is the riders fault. Riders take cross country to fast and this dosn't allow the horse to have time to judge where to take off and land. If they start making jumps out of breakable materials in the word of one of the olympians "it's just making the stupid riders smarter" letting them get away with things. So they are doing things to make it safe, but it is mostly rider errors killing and injuring them and their horses

  • FUCK YOU!

that was not my sisters fault that she lost the horse.!!!!

    it was a freak accident

he had done 3* b4!! and it was the easiest jump on the course

my sister wouldnt do something he couldnt do

and he wouldnt put himself thru somthing like that. because, his main priotry was his rider

he took his like over hers..than it was himeself, he didnt do anything that he thought e couldnt do. if he thought a jump was going to turn out bad he wouldnt jump it.

    so shut your freaking mouth!

  • i meant he took her life over his**

  • OMG! I diddn't say anything about your sister pushing her horse! I did not say that it was you or your family! I am so sorry that you thought that! Please don't cuse me out! I was talking mostly about C*** riders! please don't cuse me out

  • sorry..

its just that there are a few people out there giving my sis all this shit..

and it really pisses me off.. cos i loved him to.

so im just over people who are like that.

    sorry

  • haha foxpitt looked so happy in the water ditch aww bless

  • It is a special tape that is supposed to facilitate nasal passages open (not sucked in as exertion increases) - You'll often see football players/rugby players wear (a much smaller!) version over the top of their noses... "FlairStrips" is one brand...

  • i have been wondering what they were for ages so thanx for clearing it up

  • X0XCleoX0X its duck-tape underneath the grackle to stop it from rubbing the horses nose when out xc and to help them breath or summin. thats what i heard soo not my fault if im wrong buh its duck-tape.

  • at 0:59 whats the thing on the horses nose at the bottom????

  • its the horses bottom lip..

  • not that i no that LOL no the thing under its grakle.:-)

  • its probably too late now but at least here in america I was able to watch all of the horse events live over the internet via nbcolympics (dot) com

and they had pretty amazing coverage on the TV, with multiple stations showing various events live and in prerecorded. Its pretty much the first time ever there has been such good coverage that I can remember.

You can still see all of the videos on the website if you're interested in seeing them

  • Oxygen network has been showing all the equestrian events, all last week from 6-8 pm every night. Only two days left, Monday the 18th is Team Show Jumping Final, Tuesday the 19th is Individual Dressage Final. Both nights start at 6pm, EST in the US. It's been fantastic coverage.

  • Finally for once Danish television actually broadcast everything from all 3 disciplines. And since most of it is at late evening in Hong Kong it is in afternoon here. But I really feel for all of you who can't see it. Usually Danish television doesn't show anything, so I know how it is. Didn't see anything from WEG. Seems to be general problem? :(

  • There were two pictures that the horses feet weren't even touching the ground. Channel USA had the eqestrian on it, but I don't what time it was on or if it was that event before the cross country. I'm going try to get MSN to load up a video. So far I haven't had any success. Loved the photos.

  • Tim lips!

  • Ok wat cahnnel is this on because im watching 28 and all i see is swimming and that crap pleeez tell me this isnt over

  • the only equestrian I have since this olympics was a quick update on at some odd hour in the morning, when by chance I happened to go into McDonalds and see it on a break from school. I've seen more table tennis, soccer and beach volleyball than I have the horses. Why are some of these team sports even in the olympics?!

  • I know! It's like when your five "mommy I want to play ping pong for the rest of my life" I mean COME ON!

  • This time diff is a drag...I can't stay awake past 11pm to see anything good. Volleyball, no thanks!! At least when the olympics is in a country less than a 9 hour time diff we can watch the equine coverage at odd day hours. BAAAAAAAA!

  • i can't watch any!! they are all on one channel that i don't have!

  • I saw one dressage test, one! 7 has the worst coverage if you don't like swimming.

  • yeah you only have to read the NZ horsey forums to know tha we are unhappy with the Amount of coverage :( At least TVNZ are allowing us to watch what they do play online though :)

    Nice vid :D

  • Primes (channel 7s) coverage has been absolutely terrible - why do we have to see every single swimming heat but are bloody lucky to see the Australian riders compete! Let alone any of the other countries riders. Primes own online survey shows that the equestrian events are peoples most favourite olympic sport! And the younger commentator is absolutely awful!! Get him off!!
