ahh, so this is why i'm in the hospital -.- .... my friend said he saw how to do a "falling heel hook" online, and wanted to try it. we get into clench... and then i'm in the ambulance. ugh.
It looks very similar to how Mir subbed Lesnar in their first fight. Of course, Mir started on his back and he used a kneebar, but it's a similar process.
I am confused man....that's a judo technique developped specially by jigoro kano, but in other videos I can see you doing more traditionnal jujutsu techs, and sometimes bjj.....do you mix or do you practice one specially???
@patrickangus16 First, thanks for watching! But yes, I train multiple aspects of grappling martial arts. I look at grappling as a tree, and each grappling art as a branch. BJJ offers some great stuff. So does Sambo, Catch, Wrestling, Greco, Judo, JJJ, etc. I try to be as well-rounded as possible.
@patrickangus16 with todays fighters so athletic you need as many chains and transitions you can master. I was being choked out by a friend, almost rear naked,(before he hooked) I sweeped to his right side, releasing pressure. I then triangled him. Imagine a rear naked upside down traingle. It was actually spontaneous and I have since worked on it for choke escapes. Nothing is garunteed yet it was better than being choked out.
I love this move but how come I can't view any video past blue belt on your site??? I will click on the link and it says that there are no videos in this category.

Is it possible to turn this into a calf-crush rather than a Heel Hook?
Also, I'm hesitant to practice Heel Hooks because I heard they don't start hurting until they do damage. I'm affraid my partner wouldn't know when to tap. Is that true?
Yes, that's very true. I know a guy who broke someone's ankle at competition with a heel hook because the guy didn't know to tap.
If you are justing grappling with friends, I recommend that you all just immediately tap if you are in a heel hook, whether you think you can escape or not.
Somewhat true, the pain comes millimeters before you might break something. also, if they roll in the wrong direction they can break something between the ankle or the knee. They're very dangerous so don't do them if you have an inexperienced partner

You always have some of the most excellent instructions on the net. I have messaged you before and I am still impressed with you know how of the submission game. Once again excellent instruction.
I just wanted to say... This techinique is fantastic. One of the best. So many options!

this move is awesome if someone stands up out of your guard but is still relatively close, just slip teh leg under and do the same thing.
