@mad4diesel I was planning on doing a big single turbo, an 88 or something, but ran outta cash. Then I started a new project, a '73 Dart with a 318 and plans for a 70mm turbo.
@daveakre Im sorry man i read the discription wong! In my mind i made 8.7:1 from the 7.8:1 still with that cam and more than 8:1 it proberbly would not even be detonating. its does have a very nice beat to it! thats for shure.
my gereat grama doris had this same car back in 60's/70's. whan people cut her off on the hiway she would get mad and speed up in fornt of them and say "why he whent arund me like a drtty shert i will just step on it and see how fast this brid is going" that did wrok for her untill she got a ticket for going 109 in a 65 mph zone!!!!!!
Ehh..Im surprised that thing even runs though with that low of compression..Ehh its a mopar its fine. Really good job cant say it enough.. Wonder how much bhp your making or rwhp
@gokartmaster123 Yeah, I'm kinda surprised too. It's amazing it runs at all, considering I went through everything myself! As far as power, I walked away from an SRT-4 on the highway the other day...my dyno software said just under 400hp at the flywheel if I remember correctly. If only I had some compression, then I'd be in business!
@daveakre Yeah but one way you can gain that compression back is by finding a 440B which i think should be your engine unless the previous owner changed the 440 but look for a 440b from the 60's take the original heads off it change the valves to unleaded or what ever the conversion kit has for todays gas and dont port it or mill the head thats what people do to lower compression... or just go buy some nice edelbrock cylinder heads and you gane all your compression back
@gokartmaster123 The B engines were the 351-383-400s. The RBs were the 413-426 (wedge) and 440. There never was a factory B blocked 440. As far as the chamber size, it's an 88cc head, only 4ccs larger than stock. I'd have to do a piston swap to get compression back up to where it should be. (10-10.5:1) Someday.
@daveakre Ill take a picture of my engine block saying 440B right on it and send it to you after school today... Unless this isnt the original engine.
@gokartmaster123 It may say 440B on it, but that doesn't make it a B engine, trust me. That's just the date code. I would swap the pistons out, but I don't have the spare cash. Plus then we'd be talking rings, bearings, gaskets, machine work, etc. All said and done like $1500-2000. The car's barely worth that.
whats that digital gauge youve got in there??

@themarkzilla88 Autometer wideband.

Perfect ratio for a twin turbo set up like they put in the new corvette's and get away with 6psi. of boost, then you could really haul the grocery's.

@hurtinkids Would be in a garage if I had one.

jesus how do u keep the engine from detonating with that much compression?? i am in a los off words...

@martijncola Detonating on less than 8:1? Not sure what to say to that.

@gokartmaster123 That B you're referring to is probably part of the date code. Has nothing to do with the internals.
daveakre 1 year ago
@daveakre Nope it says it right on it ill get you a picture also wouldnt it be much easier to change the pistons then have that low of compression?
