What a line up of ballerinas for the variations! I love Krysanova's beautifully stretched legs - she is always a pleasure to watch, although there was a tiny mistake in the middle! Ryzhkina's variation was soft and lyrical - I would love to know where this variation comes from! Thank you for posting these!
@Pearlaceous Ryzhkina's variation was originally performed by Pierina Legnani, the first "prima ballerina assoluta". Legnani danced this variation in a 1901 revival of Petipa's ballet "La Camargo" about the one-night-long abduction of a 1700's dancer. You can find out more by searching The Bolshoi Ballet - "Paquita" Grand pas classique w/ Zakharova -4/6 and reading the info by friend and ballet historian mrlopez2681. His research is amazingly in-depth!
@TheBunduBallerina Thank you - interesting! Yes, I am always in awe at the depth of mrlopez' knowledge. I'll have to find that video and read the intro.
Is there a video on YouTube with Krysanova's variation - but the old version, not the Bolshoi's newer version? I have yet to find it!
