I watch nasa tv all the time! I have seen them cut the video feed many times when something comes into view! Anybody notice how they have special filters that block out the background from live video? You can't even see starlight!

LuxorVan - the reason you "can't see starlight" in videos from the space shuttle (or space station) is because of one really close and super bright star -- we call it the Sun. It's also why you can't see stars in photos and video from on the moon. The stars aren't bright enough to be seen by the cameras. Nobody is blanking anything out.

Well of course they would switch to digital. There is one huge advantage! It prevents "over-exposure" which helps certain high shutter speed films capture more light or lights! I.E.. No matter where you are on earth or in space, with the right film and exposure rates, you would pickup even the faintest star or lighted object anywhere! You can only blame the "sun" to a certain degree!

BS! If you were to expose film (or a CCD in a digital camera) long enough to detect starlight at noon, the sun would completely overexpose the entire image and all you'd get is a bright white, washed out image.
