@RichardElden i dont thing so..i thing hopkins was best thing on this movie..gibson altough was disapointing to me..brando was so great on hes christian role so it would be very hard to do it better..this is not even close my favorite movies from donaldson but still pretty good movie..did anyone else notice how much hopkins looks like russell crowe on here?
I beg to differ, Sir Anthony Hopkins is far greater in skill and presence then either Gable or Laughton. And the Bounty is one of Gibsons best performances. This has it all over all previous versions.
here's a trivia. Whilst making The Bounty, Gibson was a rascal for the demon drink and in his off time from filming would get wasted in the tahitian bars and pick fights with the locals, filming had to be halted, one time, so Gibson could recover from a black eye aquired in one such bar brawl. Hopkins, who also used to exhibit the same kind of behaviour, told gibson. "STOP DRINKING, YOU'VE A BRIGHT FUTURE AHEAD, WHICH YOU'RE IN DANGER OF FUCKING UP" Gibson stopped actin up, from there on in...
I'll echo your remark. Who has the key to the Tardis? But don't forget it all turned asour as Christian and all the other 'whites' were murdered on Pitcairn by the Tahitian natives.
Good point, i think Bligh though was prudent and right, his Betsy back in England was well worth the wait and staying faithful too her as well.
I've seen Betsy Blighs portrait in the Captain Cook museum and she is beautiful, i would of abstained from sex as well if she had been waiting for me back home.
When I saw the movies I was captivated by Christian's eternal inner struggle of love. Would he be faithful to his past, career, friends, loyalty and inner conscious? Or would he follow his instinct to hold and cherish that love that he found and ultimately changed his life forever?
hell yeh. i knew i wasnt buggin when i heard the same kinda music in ending to an anime and a Mel gibson movie. i thought i was dreamed that shit way back lol. now i see it was real. awesome music

It's a shame that almost nothing of the bounty remains on Pitcairn's island. Most was gifted away or lost over time.

@TexasMan77 is there lot of population on that island?

Anthony Hopkins is a match and more for these actors.

Great film and that was moving music.
Considering that was made in 1984, we're probably due another re-make

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars 2&3) could play Fletcher Christian

Yeah, if you want it to be a flop.

My bad--after looking at the clip more clearly, I think Mr. Hopkins does meaure up to Clark Gable.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Cheers. Happy Thanksgiving.

Haha..Laughton was a good actor but all Gable ever played was himself. Hopkins pwns both of them easily.

Gable was far better than the hammy, overacting loser Hopkins.

The music is by Vangelis.

I don`t think he stopped drinking though. Cut back perhaps but most certainly doesn`t look like he ever stopped completely.

If anyone else had done the score for this; this movie wouldn't have been as good as it is. Vangelis really knows how to put feeling into a scene.

When the Film came out, the the Score was heavily criticized..cannot think why as it was brilliant, made the film in my book.

it was? Vangelis' music is brilliant
