I put a lot of thought into this cuz I had the 5th pick in my fantasy draft this year. Bottom line is I ended up choosing Johnson over the other 2. My reasoning being that Slaton plays on too bad of a team to really do much and I think Cutler is going to hurt Fortes stats big time. Johnson has a great line surrounding him and if he gets a hole hes gone, no ones catchin him. Lendale hurts his TD stats but CJ is determined to become the the offensive MVP this year he was quoted. So CJ ALL THE WAY!
Its hard to blame yourself for not takin him. He wasnt really on the radar to have this type of season during fantasy draft time. I took the gamble and it paid off, literally. Im in first place in my league and winner gets a cool g.
y aint none of u sayin slaton.....he is best hands down.....he ran 4 most yds out of the 3 and ran 4 9 tds....he also broke more 20-40 yd runs than cj or forte....so he is deffinently the best out of the 3
You are looking at the stats and last years at that. The person doing the best right now is Johnson the other 2 seem 2 be having sophmore slumps. Slaton lost his starting job to make it worst.
Stats don't decide who is better. Just decides who did better. Chris Johnson is the most valuable IMO. His speed is unrivaled, he is very elusive, and he can break tackles in back field. I belive one game he broke 2 tackles in his own endzone. The thought of CJ in open space is a nightmare to any defense.
Ya ur stupid all of you forte lovers he is not the best obviously chris Johnson is the best hands down he has the fastest 40 time ever and he didn't start the wholeyear like forte an Johnson Shared with lendale white and fortes numbers are only going to decrease because they got the greatest young QB cutler so Johnson is and was and will be the better back here are fortes and Johnson stats CAR 316 YDS 1,238 AVG 3.9 TDS 8 251 YDS 1,228 AVG 4.9 TDS. 9
His numbers are going to get better the only reason his ypc were 3.9 is because they had no quaterback and defenses were always ready for the run and our offensive line was weak and he still went over 1000 now we have a better offensive line and a way better quaterback his ypc will go up and he will rush for 1400 to 2000 yards this year
40 times mean nothing. ahman green ran a 4.19 at the combine so i fail to see your point. also fortes numbers will increase wtf are you talking about???? now that he has a quarterback he wont have to face 8 man fronts every carry. also how many tackles does cj break? not many because of his oline. without a huge hole cj doesnt know what to do
Ya ur stupid all of you forte lovers he is not the best obviously chris Johnson is the best hands down he has the fastest 40 time ever and he didn't start the wholeyear like forte an Johnson CAR
Now lemme explain something to you, CJ only had .1 YPC more than Slaton, that ain't a lot especially if you take into account that Steve was ALSO running the ball on goalline situations.
CJ didn't have to do that, CJ's whole purpose is to get as many YPC as possible, 4.9 is good, but Steve did good whilst still running on the goalline situations, so think about it.
Also, each time Slaton and CJ played against each other Slaton did better.
that doesnt mean a thing who did better when they went against each other, its not like one is out their playing defense too.and your whole thing about yards per carry is bogus, i mean who cares really, u wanna nick pick at stuff like that i can tell u how CJ could have got more touchdowns if he didnt have a backup running back like white he has to compete with every game, so he does get less carries, and less yards
You only like Chris Johnson cause he is da fastest. Well guess what, Steve Slaton was 3rd in 20+ yard runs, and first in 40+ yard runs.
Don't tell me that YPC is bogus, it's shows how much better Steve is, watch his replays, he trucked Finnegan, juked out someone on Tennesse, Juked an indinapolis guy.
An it does matter who did better in the same games, I am sorry, your arguement is wrong. They are both damn good, but Steve has a slight edge.
Honestly......please stop the YPC crap......Slaton ran against better defenses. Your boy Johnson didn't have to run against the Tenn run defense 2x a year or the other defenses Slaton ran against.
Slaton is a better receiver, has better vision, is a better natural runner (which is why he had more exposive plays despite the lack of speed that CJ posses)......the only thing CJ has over him is .1 YPC...enjoy that, because it doesn't mean crap. Johnson was easily the most overrated rookie back.
slaton had a team who could throw the ball while no one was scared of the titans pass game at all. Johnson faced defenses stacked against the run with up to 9 in the box while the defenses slaton faced were dropped back expecting a pass to andre johnson or owen daniels. johnson didnt have that luxury.
Johnson also had a overpowering power block Oline that could push people off the ball, while Houston had one of the weakest interior lines (C and G) in the league......many times Slaton had to fight off defender in the backfield just to get to the second level.
Sorry, but your "passing threat" argument fails......Johnson had a WAY better line. That's all I hear from Titan fans......excuses why Johnson couldn't out perform Slaton despite all the press he gets. The guy is overhyped
well u just killed yourself. first off i dont give a damn about all this little crap you want to nick pick at, bottom line chris johnson had a better rookie season that slaton, i mean the guy did make it to the pro bowl
Ronnie Brown made the probowl.....doesn't mean he had a better season. Individually Johnson didn't have a "better season"......he just played on a "better team" and got more pub.
You remind me of the idiots who thought Young had a "better season" than MJD, because he was hyped up and went to the probowl and won OROY....where's he at now?
im sorry bout your point on vince young doesnt mean anything. Young had a better season thats all we are comparing, not about how their future is gonna pan out, and so what if chris johnson played on a better team, he made the most out of it, geez if you take into a count of all these little things you start to beciome bias
aww we look at the little stuff, well i will tell you one thing we dont look at our offensive line as much as you do the only reason why they look good is because johnson is so fast at getting to where the wholes open up just enough, and i mean you mostly see lendale running goal line formations, thats why he lead the afc with touchdowns, but his yards per career is below avg. and the reason why our qb didnt get sacked so much is because we have no deep threat, all u see from tenn is short routes
and i didnt say ypc is bogus otherwise i would have used that against u but what i was saying was "bogus" is the little things that you want to nuck pick at
When it comes to raw talent, it's hands down Chris Johnson. However, people need to stop hating on Forte. He had the worst Oline of the three and since there was no passing game there were 8 in the box on most plays.
I think its this:
1.) Chris Johnson (that speed should be illegal)
2.) Forte
3.) Slaton (one of the main reasons he got good yards is because his team can actually pass the ball (unlike the other two))
I gotta say Chris Johnson. Forte doesnt get it because he played the Lions and Packers twice!!!!! No run defense what so ever. That inflates his stats.
The Titans' defense only allowed two 100 yard rushing performances..........both of the came at the hands of Steve Slaton.
I laugh my ass off at all these slack jaw Titan fans......Chris Johnoson is OVERRATED and a loud mouth..I'll take Forte and Slaton over his ass any day of the week.
No they stacked 8 in the box and they didn't change their gameplan aginst "yall." "Yall" weren't the only team to throw on the Bears thanks to their stupid ass D coordinator.
Wrong, you put Slaton in CJ's position and he leads in both.
First of all, Johnson didn't have to run against the defenses Slaton did and he could only manage .1 more ypc
Second if Slaton had a defense to get the opposing team off the field he would've blown the other two backs out of the water, because he would have even MORE yards and carries even though he already lead all rookies is rushing yards something you didn't mention.
The only thing CJ has is more speed and it aint by much.
man no competition CHRIS JOHNSON.matt forte was ok and so was the other asshole but chris johnson is a beast and he is gunna end up being the best running back in the NFL.
Forte was the only one of the three who had the whole offense on his back. BAD run blocking O-line, no dangerous passing game ESPECIALLY down field, and no backup RB to spell him and keep him fresh. He had nothing and did very well. He's going to have a monster year.
Forte does a lot of damage on his catches. I was always impressed last year by Jonathan Stewart. Of the bunch though I think Chris Johnson has the greatest upside... that kinda speed just kills.
