Sometimes that's not easier than write the music from scratch. There are so many versions and covers of video game tracks, yet you can't find one like they do of Super Mario for example. As for Dragonforce, yes they have the credit for writing their own songs, but the fact that the songs sound quite similar to each other makes me prefer a band like Powerglove. I can say they are more original even doing covers. Ironic, huh?

the only reason why DF songs sound alike is cause of the speed they are played at, i learned TTFAF and i learned op. ground and pound, full speed they sound the same, but if i play them slower, they sound different. not only that but that really funky "effect" that they use (the effect that is like distortion but not really, i cant explain it)

The problem with Dragonforce is not the quality of their music, it's that they tend to get wasted when they play live and their live performances thusly tend to suck. Powerglove are a bit more professional about things like that

yea but to be fair...(and i know this from playing shows) you get nervous no matter how good and ready you are, so you drink to calm your nerves, tho most shows DF plays arent that big it can still be nervous...on a side note, the only one i really saw drink was sam totman, they all were at least buzzed if not a bit more, but sam was the one drinking six packs while he was playing (didnt even wait till end of song)

That's understandable, but when I saw them in Birmingham Sam Totman and Herman Li were both drinking like mad and their playing really suffered as a result.

Honestly though, in the long run I don't think you can really compare Dragonforce and Powerglove and say one is "better" than the other. Dragonforce write their own songs sure, but Powerglove's entire style works differently. They're far more about performance and musical flair than DF.
