  • I'm sure if one were so inclined they could construct something along a similar design that also utilized an electric motor assist. Maybe it could be one part petal powered alternator with a companion solar roof panel for extra battery charge while it's parked.

  • I would be afraid of getting my ass kicked after exiting such a gay looking cockpit.

  • is it hard to accelerate from a complete stop because of the weight?

How does it climb on hills?

Is it narrow enough to fit in the bike lane?

    Can it be locked?

  • @HariVIyer 1 - From my very very short experience with the Leiba it (but with a daily usage of a cargo bike), you can accelerate fast if you have it on an adequate gear. Of course it isn't the same as a light bike, and it depends if you're starting in a flat or hilly region.

2 - Didn't have the chance to try it out in a hilly area. I assume it will climb more slowly than a regular bicycle, it's heavier, and it has 3 smaller wheels.

  • @HariVIyer 3 - It isn't too wide, but it may be too wide for some bike lanes. It depends on the country, and in some countries, tricycles are not permitted in the bike lanes, so YMMV.

4 - I assume so, but it probably depends on the brand and model. You can probably adapt it to have a lock in the cockpit. Some models are built to order, and you can probably ask for suck customization.

    Cheers!

  • I live in Florida,it gets 100+ degrees every day, looks like a person could get hard boiled in that thing.

  • @jonnyasprin That's a common issue with this kind of vehicle, indeed. Some designs account for adequate wind circulation. You'd better talk anyone riding one in such conditions to know if it is possible in a comfortable way.

    Cheers

  • @PHOTOGRASPER do you know how to ride a bike? When was the last time you rode one? Anyone who rides a bike for transport doesn't usually get exhausted. Most velomobiles do account for wind circulation to reduce the chances of overheating. Velomobiles don't use regular saddles, which can only get you sterile if you ride some designs for very long periods of time, like professional cyclists do, and regular cyclists don't.

    Your misconceptions blur your discourse.

  • @btsantos

i ride a bike a few times a year, and it leaves me extremely exhausted if i ride for an hour.

  • @yuri60014 If you don't ride regularly, and don't have an active lifestyle, that is normal.I had a while in which I wasn't very active and when I restarted to use a bicycle more regularly, I'd get exhausted too.Try to maintain a more regular riding schedule, with shorter trips,so you can build your strength gradually. This of course, if you want to use the bike more often. It is a good way to have some exercise in our daily routines without having to take specific time for it. Cheers!

  • @PHOTOGRASPER why do bike riders bother you so much? what wrong have they done to you?

  • @PHOTOGRASPER Running out of gas would solve a bigger one......

  • Why cant people in the US do this

  • @epicdeuce do what? ride velomobiles or organize such an event as SPEZI?

  • @epicdeuce Because we are lazy suv driving turds.

  • @jamamanjamh13 don't forget arrogant and ignorant. atleast there are some people who 'get it', and it's a shame the rest of the U.S. is too stupid to understand. if only we could do this with bikes of all sorts and if you are an suv driving turd, you get forced to walk. that would put the shoe on the other foot.

  • @epicdeuce

    move to cally

  • @epicdeuce We do nit wit

  • Looks like a stumpy Banana. I like it. It makes me wish I could still ride );

  • @KeeperofTheMountain Why can't you ride anymore? :-(

  • @btsantos Too many injuries. If I ride more than a mile or hit any bumps then I am laid up for a time. I am going full suspention and a small motor. I will then see if I can do that at least. I have riden thousands of miles and now I am broken.

  • @KeeperofTheMountain :-( good luck with that new ride. Haven ridden so many miles, must be very hard to be unable to ride at all...

    Cheers,

    Bruno

  • Mr.bean-eat ur heart out!

  • @ronzilla3000 ahaha :-D

  • bicycle utopia!

  • @royalwww indeed, the SPEZI show is a show to visit if you're looking for something out of the ordinary.

  • looks like a huge mango lol!

  • @mandarina89 :-D

  • 3:17 ... that smile says everything, it *must've* been a fun to ride the Leiba

  • :-D

I can say there wasn't anything I tried that wasn't fun to ride! ehehe

I wish I've been there this year too... *snif* The new Go One Evolution looked interesting, still compact and with better aerodinamics.

    Cheers! :-)

  • looks like a shoe... but that doesn't change the fact that I want one!

  • Ahahaha! :-D It does, indeed!

I like the looks of the Go-One and the Borealis which were both shown at SPEZI too. Too bad I didn't have the chance to try them out. Maybe I'll go to Cyclevision someday to try all I can! ;-)

  • I would have so much fun there! AWESOME!! 5STARS!!!

  • The test track has lots of models to try! It's awesome. :-D

    Cheers!

  • did that Leiba have holes on the floor for your feet to get through for backing up?

  • Yes, it did! :-)

  • The production quality is raw, but the content is an interesting glimpse into another world of transportation of more comfortable and functional bikes. Worth a look!

  • Yup. :-) I wanted to try out a go-one or the beautiful Trice that was there, but they weren't available to try. I wish I could go to Cyclevision to ask for a ride from someone there. :-)

    Cheers!
