The moon in the Chinese culture is like the sun in western culture. It is the same in the literal sense, but rather in terms of importance and value, is really culture uses the sun to tell time, while the Chinese use the moon (without which there will be no lunar new year).

@teksupot uhmmm, not sure about the sheet thing... Richter said it was more honnest to the composer to use the sheet. Cédric Tilberghien sometimes plays with sheets. Another professional friend of mine always has his closed piano book on the tablets of the piano, he'd discretely check the first chord before playing. It's up to the pianist, and I don't think it makes you more or less professional, to some extent.
