    I want this sound and performance out of my F100 will my stock block and heads handle this size cam?

  • @westcokid Early model 352 heads off of 65-66 F100's They have larger ports (like Cobra Jets) and are fairly easy to find. Stock adjustable rocker arm. Yes open headers(Hooker) . The trick to getting that sound is the cam shaft. Solid lifter. The cam is a Lunati. over 620 lift. Hope this helps and thanks for looking.

  • HEY DUMBASS 9876ABCD1, if that 390 is taking a 1050 dominator carb and the cfm it is producing, theres no doubt in my mind that it'll snap 8000rpm's....badass car by the way, im bout to start building a mild 390 for my '71 fastback!!!! ill post vids as i build it.

  • how much cutting of the iner fenders did you have to do to get that much tire underneath it i have a 57 fairlane as well with a fairly healthy 460 just as a toy (mind you nothing nearly as hot as that fe) and traction has really proven to be an issue there seems to be plenty of room between the outer fenders and the frame rails but the wheel well does not go all the way to the outside fender

  • your truck isnt to bad of a ride you have there .i have a 77 f 150 xlt ranger and my truck is the first year they used the 351/400 m motor ...i was going to put my 72 /360 in mine till last year some asshole burned my garage down and took all of my shit with it ..so ihad no were to work and i junked the truck...had it for 13 reliable years , now i'm stuck with that crappy 351 [MORTIFIED] ..good luck with your's man ..keep it going

  • This car will be at the strip this season. Where will yours be?Broke down in the drive way. I can tell you know nothing about Fords. A good FE motor can turn 8 grand easily. Try to do that with a chevy and you better get a shovel to pick up the parts.This is a 1957 Ford and has been a drag car since the mid 70's and it has spanked smart ass chevy lovers that know nothing for years. If you think idling at 1600 rpm is not correct you should build a Ford then you will understand first on race day.

  • There is this thing called a cam shaft. The bigger you get the higher rpm the engine has to idle at. The only thing that backfires is any piece of shit motor you build. You need to read some books or go back to school. There is a big difference in a stock cam shaft and a high performance cam shaft especially when ever the lift is over 600. It is common sense and by the way where is your hot rod on youtube. Go to the drag races it would be a good place for you to learn something.

  • Yeah I always wondered why they waited for Ford to build a cool design and then try to copy it. They have always been behind and have always lied about horsepower of their engines. Their muscle cars got spanked by FE's. If you ever notice one Ford can take down fifteen camaro's to get to the final to win. I have seen it a million times. I have worked on a lot of chevy's. They have too many weak points. I am surprised they can even run. Too iffy and generic.

  • My Father is a walking encyclopedia on the FE series,,find a 406 or a 427 side oiler or 428 if you want to go big cubes(518) they are a high nickle alloy block with thicker cylinder walls,,a 390 is only good for 418 cu in for daily driver or 430 cu in for a possible one build drag only block filler motor...oohhh theres more=)

  • I can give you all kinds of secrets on the FE oiling system improvements so you can run 7000 rpm all day long and not worry about spinning a bearing...start out by useing a piece of dowel rod with a hole drilled in it droppped into the oil holes in the heads going to the rocker arms,,keeps the oil where its needed,,the bottom end,2nd note the bearings laying in the main saddles,,the holes dont match up,,chamfer the oil holes toward the bearing hole..

  • It is a 600 lift solid Lunati camshaft. I have the parts number for the cam if you need it. Thanks.

  • The lift is actually .623 on the exhaust and .598 on the intake. The parts # is 40511 and is a custom grind from Lunati and is a solid lift cam shaft. Its rpm range is from 4000 to 7500. Anything else I can teach you today.

The cam I chose works good and if you care to find out bring it on. Where is you car? Lets see your time slips and dyno sheets or anything. Anybody can read books.   • 9 to 1 compression is exactly what you want to run on the street so you can run pump gas. Racing fuel is a little expensive these days. But I'm sure you know all about that because you know everything. Where's your car??????
