I love this clip. It's funny that Murphy, at the time, thought that Val would be in his sixties. That would make sense, But I recall from the strips of the period that Val was supposed to be 38. Just goes to show, as Hal Foster knew years before, that nuts like me remember stuff like this that the artist just doesn't need to.
I met Bruce at a baseball game some years back and he did a caricature of me. It was great--he is an awesome cartoonist and an all around nice guy.
