  • did you wantet to ad just the shaky bits becuase there are some litlle black lines

  • Seems a bit flat and not sharp for 1080i.

  • Sometimes uploading it to YouTube can cause it to fall flat. Also its Interlace, so it is not exactly the best method. More of a difference, if it was Progressive (1080p).

Aside from some minor technical difficulties, the picture is a huge improvement, compared to consumer grade.

  • whos taht woman? she's beautiful..

  • If you buy a Canon, you will eventually have to face the factory service center and they will NOT honor their warranty. My HD so-called Professional Camera has been in the shop THREE times in its short 6 month life. They tried to charge me $1,000 because of a defective firewire port. Complete idiots. Defective equipment and a 4 year warranty. I will NEVER buy any Canon product again. Period. Considering it, are you? Save your money ... don't do it. Canon sucks.

  • Outstanding colours and pictures quality. I really love my XL H1A. Did you adjust the colour balance while editing? Did you shoot the pictures in 25 or 50 mode?

  • @makilajj Thanks. I graded the footage a little but the colours are pretty much the original ones. I don't really remember but I gues I shot it in 25 mode.

  • Question for ya. I noticed that the letus extreme actually reduces the light A LOT. How do you ramp it up on your camera so that there is enough light to deal with?

  • il cameramen non è buono! la macchina mi sa che va meglio di lui. Sorry LC

  • DROOLING............

  • looks like great bang for buck

  • Amazing!!!

  • i might get that camera in the futur, hey is any other profesinal camera thats not hd worth getting, well yeah, but they cost not to much diffferent than hd ones

  • this might be a stupid question but can you tell me if we can use 50mm Nikon lens while using the letus35 on the Canon XLH1a camera?

  • @rodunge Yep you can. You just have to get the letus with a nikon mount ring (you can purchase many different lens mounts). check their website.

  • Great footage dude...Just what i needed to see, man those colours in the lake where amazing....no doubt I,m buying it now.

  • @teaksta Cool, good luck!

  • that camera is almost cinematic

  • @javieralza The camera is nice but it's the lenses and the letus who does the job.

  • which lenses did you used?

  • Turned out pretty! Nice female acquaintance, too. I'd be interested in seeing Letus/XLH1a/steadicam footage. Pretty much just replaces the job of the optical image stabiliser. (no way of getting the lenses optical stabiliser to work with the Letus?). Another question: Do you know of the best way to get a mattebox setup for the Letus extreme and the XLH1a?

  • god damn this is a sick vid you really have a talent for filming even tho this is just a test

  • This camara is AMAZING, of course its not just the camara but the filmer and editor, way to go. Amzing 58 seconds, you should make a music video.

  • Okay. Here's what im battling. I got this camera back in november right after the Canon 7d came out. i didn't even look at dslr's because i didn't even really know about them then, But i want the interchangeable lenses so i can get more shallow depth of field. I know there is an ef adapter you can put on the camera but there are like no reviews of people using it. So the question is, is this the 400 dollar ef adapter by canon??? And are you using a dslr 50mm lense?

  • Great video. I have an XLH1 also and am looking at a DoF adaptor. Couple of questions:

    1. How do you have yours set up. Is the DOF Adaptor connected direct to the Camera or is it attached to the Canon Lens. If so which Lens?

    2. Have you had any focus issues, I have heard of some issues with a DoF and the XLH1?

    3. Did you check out other DoF Adaptors? Letus, Redrock, Brevis, etc? What made you go for this one?

    4. What issues did you have to overcome if any to get it to work well?

    Thanks

  • wats the difference between the cannon XH A1 and the XL H1 A

  • @MartyHITD More manual control and you can take the lense off the Xlh1

  • yeaa good image !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i want buy the canon camera with letus extrem but no more money !!! :(

  • I love the effect. I have th H1 and was considering either the Redrock or Letus. What do you recommend? Does the Letus need further step rings etc...?

  • Use a tripod please?

  • @TheTVFairy haha it says "test" doesn't it?

  • Amazing quality.

  • It's nice seems like it's a little fuzzy or that might jsut be me? :P but man it's one expensive camera too! :D

  • What is the setup (lens adapter/model number) needed for the Letus for the Canon XLH1a. If what you're saying is that it allows easier DOF shots (the only kind I use) then I'll like to give it a try. For a $1000+ price tag IT BETTER WORK :-)

  • The Canon XLH1a doesn't need a Letus. It has manual control of the aperture, shutter, iris which gives you the motion picture-like depth of field without any add-ons or upside down images in the viewscreen while shooting.

The Letus is primarily for low-end consumer cameras, not a $6000 Canon XLH1a :-) It's like adding a Letus to a Panavision camera :-)

  • you obviously don't know what you are talking about :)

  • You may be right...but I achieve the very same depth of field effect using the Canon without any add-on lens converters.

  • @TheWatchmanReport to get depth of field do you need to change for another lens or do you need to zoom in ?

  • @halvorhoem What is a letus?

  • Comment removed

  • @halvorhoem @halvorhoem In a way, you're both right.

The Letus isn't needed to get more control over DOF, which is something it could be used for on a lower end camera. But there are two other potential reasons.

    1. Getting "full frame" DOF (shallower) as opposed to 1/3 in. DOF (deeper), all things being equal.

    2. Being able to use different 35mm lenses instead of the ones for the XL-H1A/XL-H1S.

The Letus also reduces the incoming light slightly (which can be good or bad, depending).

  • EVEN with all the on camera controls (aperture, shutter, iris, ND, frame rate, etc) I still find it hard to difficult to create a film look. It can be done under the right conditions (lighting, infinite room for zoom, because you have to basically zoom all the way in in order to achieve a good DOF), but it still does not look as good in my opinion as if you had a RedRock or Letus 35mm adapter attachment, so that you can use prime lenses to get a great DOF.

  • Again, you're probably more right than I, because I do not own a Letus. I'll have to try it to see the extreme difference from how I'm shooting now.

    I'll let you know.

  • I don't own a Letus adapter either but I am borrowing one this week for a wedding that I am shooting. I'm telling you once you try a Letus you won't go back. The Letus also vibrates ground glass inside the adapter helping result in a more film look.

  • @TheWatchmanReport mate if u think that i suggest u go back to film school, and learn a bit more about digital cameras. I have a xlh1, and a panasonic hpx 500 both cameras are good, but the hpx500 is a high end camera it costs around 12000£. neither of them are capable of achieving the film look and dof without the 35 mm lens adapter.

  • @steliber I already said I will try out the system. What would be an ideal setup for the Canon XLH1a.

  • @TheWatchmanReport hahahaha. The XLH1 does not have the DOP of a 35mm camera.....thats the whole point of the letus. Also it depends on what lens you use with the letus.

  • AWESOME

  • Hey, nice video. Is this the Canon XL-H1A 3CCD HDV High Definition Professional Camcorder with 20x HD Video Zoom Lens III ? I'm looking for a professional camera on amazon, and (what I just typed) seems like a nice one. Another question: How exactly did you get it to look like a film? I don't exactly understand the lingo.

  • Letus extreme, thats what makes the footage a more film like

  • @g0thman the camera records at 24 fps and that is what is used at the movies the cannon xlh1s does not record in real 24 fps i forget what it records in than makes it look this way but as you verified cannon says you cant tell the diffrence

  • Absolutely love the look of the Letus. This is fantastic!

  • ilove it!

  • I want this too :-) while studying I did an internship with a camera renting company: tried out p+s technik converter + master prime lenses. The effext is, as you display here, very pleasing. Nice colors and images ;-)

  • Great video. I'm in the market for a new camera and this film will help me make my decision. By the way, can you tell me the name of the song and artist you used for the video. It's really good!!

  • Hi, thanks. The song is "spökstad" by the swedish group "Kent".

  • Nice! I sue the xlh1 and redrock check mine out as an alternative to the Letusus

  • hi i just wondered why people pay alot of money for eos converters and the eos lenses? what different looks do you get? compared to lenses actually made for the camera. thanks.

  • Depth of field.

The focus area gets narrower and you achive a film look instead of a video look.

  • so the letus extreme is just another type of lense converter basically? thanks for your reply!

  • That's right. I like the Letus.

  • ohh ok. thanks for your info! and nice footage btw.

  • Sure, go ahead!

  • Man, this looks amazing! Could I ask you a question about the Letus in a private message?
