  • Soberbia y magistral banda!!! Thanks for uploading this jewel!!!

  • Too bad it´s so blurry...

  • "I forget to believe in heaven when I look at you girl" - way to circumvent a cliche!

  • The video is a bit hypnotic (-:

  • @ninelivecat Definitely. That's what makes the song so cool. They're just sitting there looking bored and non-chalant. Better than those Top of the Pops videos with the fake band members trying to look like they're duplicating Gamson and company's studio craft. This is at least cool with Green lounging back while Gamson and Maher are working it out in the background.

  • omg, the bored girl is so cute!

  • this is soooo 80s but ironically enough Green was so aware of what he was doing that it transcends mere temporal categorization

  • Stupid video. Great song.

  • Socialist chic? Bizzarre

  • I love this song and The Sweetest Girl

  • So clever to have the video set on a hypnotist's couch. Complements the song perfectly.

  • No internet no cell phones JUST PURE FUN! in 1985!!

  • Scritti Politti is really something else, that is the least I can say. On first appearance it seems so inconspicuous and spectral and "grey" like so much of the early eighties electronical music, but that seems to make it all the more haunting, once you realize you are actually being completely drawn in by just how funky and soulful it sounds. That's when you start actually paying attention to the lyrics... Its like a cultural anomaly that doesnt cease to fascinate me.

  • Oohh these female voices are exciters for adrenaline. I am crazy about this song!!!

  • @chillinjazZ There's only one female voice, the wonderful B.J. Nelson (and that isn't her on the sofa in the video). She really compliments Green's vocals throughout Cupid & Psyche 85, their duet on the song "A Little Knowledge" is spectacular.

  • @wayne2020z

still working as scritti politti. he's just released a greatest hits album with 2 brand new songs. search youtube for 'a day late and a dollar short' thats one of the new songs

  • great stuff

  • Complete GENIUS * i ADORE Scritti. They are PERFECTION

  • but true about the vocals, ahead of it's time..

  • 100% 80s - most of the 90s didn't have funky synth/basslines like this

  • fuck this is slow......

  • Video directed with minimalist lack of pretension by Tim Pope. His similarly minimal videos for The Cure are pure genius.

  • LMAO! So nailed it elvisntallbad! And what's with the judgmental lady next to him? Looks like she'd rather be doing her taxes.

Still, it's a great song and thanks for the post(s).

  • By request to my 7 year old who loves this song (She does have great taste), and who thinks Green "Looks like a Prince"... ;-)

  • Awesome song, Scritti Politti are my favourite band, unsure about this music video though :\

  • oh those great days of the 80's ....beautiful time in my life and I am not the only one who can say the same around the globe.

  • green gartside...bj nelson...way ahead of their time...peace

  • this is the song that introduced me to Scritti Politti... and I still love it! I love Perfect Way too, but I almost think I liked this one better, although it didn't do much here on the US charts

  • @wayne2020z still making amazing music!

  • @binker1 Agreed - White Bread Black Beer was excellent.

  • @binker1 Is he? I'm not trying to argue with you but didn't he threaten to go into politics?

I would ABSOLUTEly vote for Green!

Would still love to hear more music from him, however.

  • @brianab31 White Bread Black Beer came out in 2006... and they always take a long time in between albums.

  • Green had serious vision, excellent!

  • @maclennan73 this is the first track that I'd ever heard from this band back in '84 , after that I was hooked , and still in my opinion Cupid & Psyche 85 is one of the best produced albums of it's day.

  • @hanky2112 Though some may argue it sounds 80s, the vocals and production hint more towards the coming dance music scene of the early 90s.

  • @MordaciousFilms wow finally a smart comment on youtube, this does sound 90s people just assume shit all the time

  • @MordaciousFilms really? you think? It screams 80s to me.

  • @jrmetmoi What I'm saying is that I think it has qualities that sound ahead of it's time.

  • FUNKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wish I could be a fly on the wall for when this video was pitched. - Hey, I've got a great idea for a video. Green will sit on a sofa, devoid of emotion and sing.

Well that's a much better idea than all the others, lets do it!

  • @evilisntallbad Well, in the mid 80s it was still all about the artists over flashy videos most of the time. Michael Jackson's crew managed to integrate both, but there aren't many other cases of huge video productions from back then.

As minimalist as this video is, it's very effective. The music is good enough to stand on its own anyway.

  • @evilisntallbad But he's beautiful enough to pull it off. ;)

  • Hypnotize!!! Love the lyrics and that sweet beat.

  • Green : Mr Cool par excellence.

  • Ahhhhh high school . . .

  • Who's the gorgeous woman on Green's left? Is that BJ Nelson?

  • @Brynstar Is it Tiwatha Agee?

  • @NeRienII

Pretty sure its not. If you google pics of Tawatha, she doesn't look like the woman in the clip. Perhaps it was just some model Green decided to use ...
