I have a 1/250 model of the Mo. All hand made with the hull carved from a single piece of wood. RC model has 4 working screws (with proper rotation) and is about 42.5 inches long. I did not build it. It was given to me by the builder. It was the best gift I ever received. The original owner had many ships and sailing vessels all RC. My Mo was built around 1960 and was on display, for a time, in the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. Your ship is Surpurb!
i am now working on the revell bismarck but how did you painted the waterline on the back of the ship? i use airbrush and tape the parts of but it is hard at the back...
I have great doubt, the color of the deck of the ship is looking dark gray, but in all the colorful pictures that I saw the ship's deck is wood. Why this difference? I have a kit in scale 1 / 350 and wanted to take this course. Thanks
This is really a model for a museum and kept under glass so would look better in "new" condition, certainly does not spoil it, just think of it as rolling down the launch ramps?
I remember when the real one was docked at San Franciso, CA. I visited her.
Best moment of the day was that a group of hippies had a small table set up and trying to hand out anti-military leaflets. An old Vet walked up as I was argueing with these people and asked if he could "..have them to hand out to people in line" they said he could have as many as he liked......he grabbed their entire stack of thousands or so an tossed them into the Bay..everyone cheered and clapped for him.
@loobster111 totally agree dam that is one awesome model! =D i wish i had $ and skill like that =\ how much did that thing cost u? the detailing is so perfect! =D =F so cool!
fantastic model, very intricate detail, just one question, was the main deck that dark? I am building a model Missouri 1:350th scale trying to paint it in the 1945 configuration, thought the deck was bluer and lighter? Im just being fussy, but seriously congratulations on a job well done laddy! :)
if your doing the 45 era the deck was more of a teak wood, the decks were stripped back to thier original wood shortly before the surrender, the decks should only be dark if your doin the measure 22 camo scheme, then the decks matched the hull and superstructures camo
Amazing model!! Best Missouri-model I have ever seen..
At the moment Im only having a few 1/350 scale-models, The King George V and the Yamato.
However Im going to get a pretty large model of The Prinz Eugen, my favorite ship in 1/144 scale. But it's stil only half the length of your majestic Missouri.. 5 stars :)
I think Maybe they were there as extra anti aircraft defence when built, but were not needed later on? But the latter pics of the ship died not have that armament there. Sort of Pre missile defence. I do not know as I am not familiar with the ship but maybe someone here can give it more detail
it's well woth the money! most people spend more on ciagarettes, alcohol, and bmw's than we spend on rc. so you've gotta keep the price in perspective. modeling enriches your life. us modelers (but i don't put myself in the same category as the wwiifan) will still be fired up and active when we are pushing 90 years old!
Beautiful detail for such a large model, Well done.
