The recentlly released lines of vintage modified and vintage vibe Squiers actually sound very good. I actually prefer my squier Jag bass over my Fender Jag bass for it's sound, feel, and versatility. Squier version is also better on a strap balance wise. Weight wise they're about the same. Also the Squier version has a thinner neck and a very unnoticably thinner body which are both excellent features in my opionion, very comfortable for thin neck lovers.
Squier was it's own company until 1963. Squier was originally a violin company, and supposedly a very nice one, don't know never lived in the late 19th century to say. Squier was also Fender's supplier back when Leo first started Fender, so yes Fender used use Squier made string in which they specialized in back in the early to mid 20th century. I own both prestigious shit like a Gibson LP BFG bass, '91 MM Stingray5 and recently was stunned by a Squier Jaguar bass, it just played so beautifully.
Um, yeah. But still not a Fender. Different factories, slightly different specs, much cheaper materials. I've owned several Fenders & Squiers, and yeah... they are part of the same company but as different as Chevy & Cadillac. Still cool, though!
@Stev187 they are like, the same as fender standard series, maybe better. theyre manufactured by fender, owned by fender, and they even used to be marketed as Fender squier series, with having that on the headstock. same company

0:31 "squier made by fender" - he even says that squier is a sub-company of fender.
