Wow. The cd is back in print and for sell on Amazon for less than $8. A company called Sundazed reissued the vinyl edition a few years back. Not only is it the best Christmas records, it's one of the best releases ever.

@TheBabyboomkidof53 I will always believe that PHIL was the victim of circumstances. First the remark he made to that chauffer then the fact that Robert Blake and OJ had gotten off.
@THEMOJOMANsince1959 ha ha. @TheBabyboomkidof53 Yeah it's funny how one decision (most times a spit-decision) can really change one's life. I my radio career I once worked for Ted Turner when he only had 3 radio stations and WTBS (which was UHF) in Atlanta. I worked at his WGOW in Chattanooga,,we had meetings at the big office in Atlanta every 4-6weeks. At one meeting he was trying to get everyone to buy stock in a CABLE plan he had. Most of us thought he was just a snake oil salesman. That was 1971. I was stupid.
@TheBabyboomkidof53 Most cable systems have WTBS (referred to as the Super Station). That's the same place. Also where CNN was born. In Atlanta it's still channel 17 UHF,,,if anyone has a knob TV yet. Strange how I got off on this when we were talking about Phil,,probably because Turner is an ODD BALL also. I was early for a meeting once and he was showing me his sailboat trophies in his office. Here I was barely making it and this millionaire is showing me that stuff. Strange World.

"During the later periods of Roman history, sun worship gained in importance and ultimately led to what has been called a 'solar monotheism.' Nearly all the gods of the period were possessed of Solar qualities. The feast of Sol and Victus (open unconquered Sun) on December 25th was celebrated with great joy, and eventually this date was taken over by the Christians as Christmas, the birthday of Christ."
@DylansDrFilth Strange world huh? Here this genius millionaire is in jail for something stupid he did,,what a waste. That girls life and his FOR WHAT??
This album is my clearest memory of christma as a kid. This, the snowman earrings that my mum used to wear; and a little candle train made up of 4 or 5 carriages.
@one5643 that is absolutely beautiful. It is a towering album, and the most fabulous representation of Christmas that I have. Next week the immortal Darlene Love will be singing "Christmas Baby Please Come Home" on David Letterman and I can't wait. Merry Christmas.
@GlenQuagmireful I was "in radio" ROCK for many years and "way back there" I would wonder if that tremendous little black girl would ever get recoginzed,,as years went by she finally did. When I saw her as Danny Glover's wife in Lethal Weapon I knew she was GETTING HER DUE,FINALLY "DARLENE LOVE" is a treasure.
Spector will be having his xmas dinner in jail, all sat around in the chow hall and listening to this album, then its back to there cells to watch back to the future..
Wonder if Phil is thinking about his victims family over this xmas period... Doubt it !!!!
@kevinturvy Sometimes I feel sorry for him and sometimes I think GOOD,,STAY LOCKED UP!! I worked with some very talented people in radio and often times a few of them were their own worst enemy. Many times I was like that MY OWN WORST ENEMY. I made the wrong decision many times.
I am so glad Zooey Deschanel recommended this on her Tumblr. This album has probably changed my entire Christmas experience. Thank you, Zooey! Happy holidays, everyone!
It's just so mad Spector devoted all his considerable musical muscle to what were previously silly little seasonal trifles. Alternately hair-raising and melancholy.
bom demais, não se ve mais musicas de natal hoje em dia,até o espirito nessa época era outra,as pessoas tinha mais vida e calor humano.essa musica faz lembrar e sentir um pouco essa época!
so obvious how perfect his technique and style were for these songs. The intimate overpacked studio sound really evokes a close gathering. The drumming in Frosty The Snowman is superb. hahah when else could you say that?
This is one great Christmas album. Plenty of talent pictured on the album cover. You are looking at some of the best vocal groups of the 60's. I have always enjoyed their Christmas songs. (Laura Lamar High School Class of 1964 Homer City PA.)

@gymnastix Had one of my best Xmas's EVER in Boston 19 Xmas's ago! Thank you for showing me such a wonderful time! You are my favourite American city and may everybody in Boston and Cambridge have a wonderful Xmas from London, England!
By the way, my old band shared a bill with Ronnie Bennett Spector Greenfield, now about 11 years ago. It was a lot of fun, although it wasn't one of her "fabulous" Christmas shows.
However, the following year, I did have the opportunity to see and hear Ronnie play a Christmas show in New York, performing duets with Joey Ramone of The Ramones and some guy named Keith Richards (from a band that originated in your neck of the woods).
Keef and the Stones were from Dartford in Kent about 80 miles from me although they started playing in Richmond-on-Thames I think which is just outside London.
I played a couple of gigs over Xmas myself and we did a bluesy version of Whte Christmas too.
theres something about this sound that really makes christmas music sound really warming and nostalgic! thanx for uploading. i remeber when i first saw this album for sale on cd, i was thrilled, before 2002 it was only available in the uk on casette or vinyl! happy christmas!

Darlene Love sings Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) on The Late Show with David Lettermen Dec 23, 2009 CBS TV. Happy Holidays!
This would have to bethe best Christmas party album ever. Every track is a winner....you don't get fabulous vocals like this anymore. Drop by my 60's channel soo. Robbie.
Great Girl Group Christmas Classics from the master of the wall of sound, Phil Spector! Darlene Love was great on this cut of Sleigh Ride and other favorites on this special Christmas album form the early 1960s. I pull this album out every Christmas and play it over and over.
This whole collection is so good musically that I (a confessed official hater of Christmas) am even starting to come around to actually wanting Xmas to arrive even more often... as an excuse to blast this out on repeat!!! (hell, I never thought I'd ever say that...so it must be out of this world!)
I just wish that I was raised as a child on such a masterpiece...this should be the top of everyone's list for xmas music...even deaf people! ;-)

Wall of Sound sounds alright on my computer speakers cause I have a decent woofer. Mind you listening to this on the old stereo system we had with the best woofer on it can't be beat. Damn I can't remember what make it was now...(70's era)
the person who recommended this album to me has just become the love of my life. even if he does have sideburns incredible enough to succesfully inflitrate the american political system...
The Wall of Sound is one of the best music production methods I've ever heard. I love Phil Spector's work. It certainly beats the crap out of rap. I'm sure anyone who tries to downplay its importance is a supporter of rap.
jhyscs: Anyone who doesn't appreciate the beauty of good rap is not a true lover of music, only someone who likes to wallow in their own taste. And, your right what does that have to do with this? anyway?
Well said, and judging by your favourites you too have an eclectic taste in music. How do people expect beautiful music to infltrate a closed mind? Merry Christmas for when it comes!
@Supergungun Chuck Berry was on one of last Tonight Shows with JOHNNY CARSON and Johnny ask him what he thought of RAP,,,Chuck Berry said that ain't music, who wants a bunch of guys with gold chains jumping in their face
@Supergungun RAP ruined real Rock& Roll that's why Country got bigger,,you can identify. ROCK&ROLL is just COUNTRY without a steel guitar and fiddle. CCR & The EAGLES got big because they sound a tiny bit country
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This production technique worked well with the technology of time. With the advent of stereo, Spector's "Wall of Sound" was found out! It even sounds bad on laptop speakers....
The first ever Ronnie Spector Darlene Love A Christmas Gift For You live shows- Dec 11 Parilla Pac Montgomery College Rockville MD and Dec 17 The Count Basie theatre Red Bank NJ.
While this is a great Christmas album, it is still a muddled mess. You cannot hear each instrument and everything is jumbled together. I guess it's just due to that so-called "wall of sound".
youre crazy! either find it on clean vinyl and play it on a good turntable, or buy an import cd. anything downloaded here sounds like shit. hardly muddled, and certainly not a mess.
One of the greatest christmas albums ever. I wonder how many of you know what serious crime he committed recently, although being a celebrity he ofcourse was aquitted a la OJ Simpson.
Spector has not been acquitted. Actually, it looks there's a good shot he may go for 18 years. The retrial's almost over and the prosecution just wrapped it up today. So now it's Phil's turn to explain how he had no part in Lana Clarkson winding up dead from a gun shot in Spector's house on Feb 3 2003.
@ChristmasDave: I heard the CD is being re-released with a free wig and loaded hand gun. The perfect gift to recreate your favourite Phil Spector-themed Christmas!
@Sw33td011 Shame on the manufacturer for discontinuing it here! Its well worth whatever you have to pay for it. There is a guy who on here who collects "Phil" stuff - Ronnettes in particular. He sells his items at very reasonable prices and his response time and packaging is just the very best. Try contacting him as you stay a good chance that he will have it. Good luck and good good listening.
This is the greatest holiday record of them all. There's nothing better than this.

Great Girl Group Christmas Classics from the master of the wall of sound, Phil Spector! Darlene Love was great on this cut of Sleigh Ride and other favorites on this special Christmas album form the early 1960s. I pull this album out every Christmas and play it over and over.

I like rap and Phil Spector...SORRY.

This whole collection is so good musically that I (a confessed official hater of Christmas) am even starting to come around to actually wanting Xmas to arrive even more often... as an excuse to blast this out on repeat!!! (hell, I never thought I'd ever say that...so it must be out of this world!)
I just wish that I was raised as a child on such a masterpiece...this should be the top of everyone's list for xmas music...even deaf people! ;-)
an absolute recording gem....thanks phil & co.

Wall of Sound sounds alright on my computer speakers cause I have a decent woofer. Mind you listening to this on the old stereo system we had with the best woofer on it can't be beat. Damn I can't remember what make it was now...(70's era)

the person who recommended this album to me has just become the love of my life. even if he does have sideburns incredible enough to succesfully inflitrate the american political system...
lovestopanic 2 years ago
The Wall of Sound is one of the best music production methods I've ever heard. I love Phil Spector's work. It certainly beats the crap out of rap. I'm sure anyone who tries to downplay its importance is a supporter of rap.

Not really any basis for comparison really is there? Its like comparing Ulysses with a bacon sandwhich
jhvscs 2 years ago 2
You dare defy the greatness of Phil Spector?
Supergungun 2 years ago 6
lol no, but I daren't deny the greatness of rap either
jhvscs 2 years ago
Rap is noise, not music.
Supergungun 2 years ago 4
each to their own. You are missing out mind :P Have a Merry Christmas
jhvscs 2 years ago
jhyscs: Anyone who doesn't appreciate the beauty of good rap is not a true lover of music, only someone who likes to wallow in their own taste. And, your right what does that have to do with this? anyway?
Nadine91273 2 years ago

THEMOJOMANsince1959 11 months ago
the greatest album ever made

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This production technique worked well with the technology of time. With the advent of stereo, Spector's "Wall of Sound" was found out! It even sounds bad on laptop speakers....

While this is a great Christmas album, it is still a muddled mess. You cannot hear each instrument and everything is jumbled together. I guess it's just due to that so-called "wall of sound".
287750km 2 years ago
youre crazy! either find it on clean vinyl and play it on a good turntable, or buy an import cd. anything downloaded here sounds like shit. hardly muddled, and certainly not a mess.

One of the greatest christmas albums ever. I wonder how many of you know what serious crime he committed recently, although being a celebrity he ofcourse was aquitted a la OJ Simpson.
xerxes7 3 years ago
Spector has not been acquitted. Actually, it looks there's a good shot he may go for 18 years. The retrial's almost over and the prosecution just wrapped it up today. So now it's Phil's turn to explain how he had no part in Lana Clarkson winding up dead from a gun shot in Spector's house on Feb 3 2003.

i wonder if they still sell this in stores

This CD was discontinued by the manufacturer. However you can still download a mp3 album from Amazon for $7.99.
ChristmasDave 3 years ago
@ChristmasDave: I heard the CD is being re-released with a free wig and loaded hand gun. The perfect gift to recreate your favourite Phil Spector-themed Christmas!
t0mme1981 1 year ago
@Sw33td011 I remember when the advert for this CD was on telly. The CD was on today as decorations were going up.
AaronSmith0 1 year ago
@Sw33td011 Shame on the manufacturer for discontinuing it here! Its well worth whatever you have to pay for it. There is a guy who on here who collects "Phil" stuff - Ronnettes in particular. He sells his items at very reasonable prices and his response time and packaging is just the very best. Try contacting him as you stay a good chance that he will have it. Good luck and good good listening.
