Hey basicman101, from what I've read there are apps you can get that manage/turn off apps that aren't being used to aid in battery life. TasKiller is one, I think. I'm about to buy this. I like the Eris better in terms of UI, but there is no guarantee that the Eris will upgrade to Android 2.0. What do you think of your new phone?

i don't think the eris has a fast enough processor to run 2.0 smoothly

Yeah, ninjastephen, that's what subsequent (to my post) research indicated, that's why I now own the Moto Droid. Thanks. The bigger screen and internet speed is superior to the Eris. I like its blockiness, as well. I almost looks like a phone that David Lynch might design. Bauhaus!!!!

I love the fact that you describe this phone as a Milestone considering that is the name given to the GSM version we will be getting in Europe. As this was posted on the 2nd of November you couldn't have known that.

Can you use the browser in landscape without the keyboard out?

Yup, just rotate it to the left to activate the accelerometer. Browsing in landscape is fantastic!

Has the droid ever locked up on you yet? I am planning on getting this phone but I was going to wait to see if any bugs had bein found before I did so.

The Droid def. hasn't locked up on me yet, not once. Actually, it's funny that you mention this, b/c now that I think about it, I haven't even thought about it haha. Thing just purrs. It's been very stable and I've run a ton of apps on it.

all the droid means to me is that verizon will not sell the iphone, i am so glad i left two months ago and got the 32 3gs, i love the apps and the ipod, i wonder if the droid will work with itunes, for those of you like me who have all there music stored there, i am glad verizon did something, now the iphone will get even better

Just a friendly reminder. Verizon DOUBLED there early termination fee for smart phones (Droid). It is now $350!!! Google Verizon ETF for smart phones. So make sure you LOVE your phone. :-)

What are the repeatability functions on the Calendar???

I currently have an iPhone (which I intend to return and get a Droid instead), and it only repeats every "week", "day", "weekday", and "month". There is no repeatability with respect to things like the second Wednesday of every month, every third day, etc. Does the Droid have this function???

The options in the Droid's Calendar app are:

"One-time event, Daily, Every Weekday (Mon-Fri), Weekly (every Wed), Monthly (every first Wed), Monthly (on day 4), yearly (on November 4)."

So... will that work for ya?
