Hey really like the vid and the mod, I was wondering if this mod would run on the specs of a computer with an i3 core processor, ATI HD Radeon 5140 1gb gaming graphics card, 2-4Gb of ram and 1tb hard drive? I don't know much about specs so if somebody could let me know the lowest specs required without lagg that would be helpful, thanks :)
It just goes to show what you can do to appalling graphics with a few tricks.. Frankly the graphics for this game aren't that spectacular, even now, but it has made a huge difference, and this is just a retexture and single graphical modification. With some more work it could look absoloutly spectacular, and it is block based graphics lmfao.. And in my opinion it looks alot nicer than the crap on the consoles..
@danie10ful I know what it means. You have to have a 256x compatible OS don't you? I have Windows 7 64bit, so I can only run 64x pixel texture packs smoothly, any higher and it will lag like hell. Do you just need a 256x version of Java? Or wouldn't that also need a 256x OS?
@gipro1 It doesn't quite work that way. The 256 is only the resolution of the texture, while the 64 in 64bit stands for the bits the operating system uses to calculate stuff. You can run 256 stuff on a 32bit machine, but the 64bit software is just a bit more suitable for this kind of stuff (especially java) so you will end up getting more FPS on a 64bit system. (And 64bit is the highest standard atm)
@Engehenk I tried a texture pack that was more then 64x and it lagged. I have an ok pc when it comes to gaming so then why cant I run 256x? I have the ATI Radeon HD 5450 video card which lets me play many MMO's on higher graphics settings and I have also tested the Mass Effect2 demo and was able to run it perfectly but when I have a 256x texture pack for Minecraft where everything is made of cubs and I can still see pixels I have trouble running it. If you know could you tell me whats wrong?
@gipro1 Minecraft isn't optimized verry well. Some high end PC's struggle with it and some ancient PC's used by cavemen can run it perfectly fine. This has not much to do with the operating system itself, it's mostly...luck, besides having the latest drivers and the latest (64bit) java. But be aware that Crysis 2, on 720p with everything on high (hardcore setting) runs with more FPS then minecraft 256x with GLSL shaders on my pc aswel.
Looks nice.. But the problem with Parralax Occlusion is that it looks kinda awkward when looking at an angle.. You can see that with the gravel and logs. Even though the shaders are awesome, Minecraft remains a blocky world.. :P
@TwoGamerLite Unfortunally i can understand German aswel, music info is in the description and in a text info thingy that pops up at the start of the vid =).
@just2smooth4uGaming Just the usual actually. Get 64 bit java if you have a 64bit OS, update it to the latest version, update your graphics card drivers etc. (the 64 bit java part made me gain quite allot of FPS). Other then that i'm running minecraft with a .bat script that launches the game from a linux jar file. (I'm on windows).
@Engehenk can you explain to me how to run it with.bat and linux jar? ive tried before but it seems pretty difficult, perhaps you can explain it more briefly?
ncie vid man! i think ima reinstall these, still looks the best. in addition to installing java 64 bit, you have to tell it to use more memory than default, or certain modloaders can enable it too.
@TheInvisiblePickaxe LB Photorealism. I've started all over on the LB RPG shader support, so it will take a while before those will be out =) (Will upload a video of course)
@TheInvisiblePickaxe Tried installing 64 bit java and/or updating your videodrivers? Or do you still have leftovers from modloader mods outside of the bin folder that you aren't using?
i asked my uncle for minecraft and hes a gamer he plays all these hightech games n whenever i showed him it he said wat kinda shit do u like im spending 15 euros on thst n im like 0_0
It's not good enough at this point, the rendering needs to be done incredibly fast, this is a real-time rendering, you don't need to move to actually see it, but since minecraft doesn't use GPU, but CPU, that is going to be a pain and a challenge. OpenGl has gone 4.2, I would like to see somebody make a GPU mod, or something, Notch isn't up for the challenge, think how many people have a graphics card able to do this, tons of people, not just a few, all you need is 256 vram.
@PinataRockerz1 OpenGL Shading Language, check the vid in the suggestions at the right side "So what does this GLSL do anyway". Shows a few examples of what the mod can do.
actualy i know now what minecraft is, it,s like the raw server client, and you can things with it, like a engine when you putting some wheels on it, :/
I wish my computer could handle LB Photorealism. :( When using 256x, only the signs were HD. When using 128x, most items appeared as white squares.
On a side note, I wanted to ask about something. I have no idea if this is relevant or not, considering that computers are not even my pianissimo, but I saw a video in which the world had a slight curvature, and the trees, grass, wheat, etc. waved in the wind. Is it possible to have both this (the pretty 3D details) AND the waving wheat?
@StayGold3333 Yes, it is. There are a few shaderfiles out there that have both those effects included, but this does require some searching around and/or editing the shaderfiles yourself to turn specific effects on/off. (This is in fact easier then it sounds)
@kaan9072 Both yes and no. Every shaders feature exept parallax occlusion and specular mapping will work with every texturepack (DoF, curvature, celshading, bloom, ssao, aa etc). For shaders with parallax occlusion and specular mapping you will have to use a texturepack that supports GLSL (aka has a terrain_nh and a terrain_s). The texturepack in question doesn't matter. But after installing the mod correctly, you can just easily swap shaders around if you need to.
@alexgrinkov If i recall correctly Jeb is working on HD texturesupport. Yet the GLSL will always stay a mod though, it changes the feel of the game quite drastic.
@BiGf1sHzZ And congratulations on completely missing the point of the video =P. A test or showcase to show parallax occlusion in action for a specific texturepack doesn't make this a gameplay video.
I was having issues getting the 256x to run, i was even having issues with the 128x LOL, i have a monster computer too. My problem is that my computer was Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and i had Java for a 32-bit system LMFAO. So for people who have Minecraft running out of memory and they have a monster computer. That could be the issue. Just do this:
Control Panel -> Enter (Java) in the search bar -> If it says ( Java 32-bit) That means you need to go download the version for the 64-bit OS.
@BlueDregonsCrew i have said the exact post, down to the "if you have java 32 bit in control panel, and not just java", on a few posts, good day sir, cheers :)
@skullrider8 It uses the HDD for storing the map file (the more you explore, the bigger your map file gets), and can use a lot of RAM for storing currently loaded chunks of the map. The shaders work your graphics card more than anything else.
@Pyrok1netic Thats why i'm having trouble when moving around allot, limited amount of ram comes into play. Yet when that's not the case, my reasonable graphics card can handle it quite well. But as always, you never know with minecraft. Even on identical pc's you will have different fps issues =P.
My brain hurts.

gipro1 4 months ago
@gipro1 The amount of compression does matter, basicly the bigger the filesize of the textures the harder it's going to be for your system.
Engehenk 4 months ago
@gipro1 well picture this, minecraft has to render the texture 6 times for each block so say 10 million blocks so lets do some math
6x64 = 384 x 10000000 = 3840000000 pixels rendered at a time, plus shaders = about twice as much strain on your pc
