@pooldolly The price you would find it in a store is $200, I paid half that by purchasing it through a business to business liquidation. I think that you could probably get one off of ebay for about the same price I got this for.
It comes with a CD but I never used it. I just plugged the camera into my computer and I can pull the video and pictures off just fine without using any of the Kodak software. I use Gimp, which is free for pictures. For video, I've been using Sony Vegas, just make sure you get a version compatible with the HD resolution video that this camera produces as I had to upgrade since my older version wasn't "Pro".
I don't really see what the text function does with the image or what settings are changed. My Nikon had the same thing and I saw that it turned the picture black and white, I don't see what it changes with this camera though. I usually just take the pictures of username lists at gatherings in program mode with Macro autofocus turned on.
I have a second video that shows what some footage looks like, it looks a little better before it gets struck with Youtube compression after I upload it to Youtube.
It is fairly easy to use, it allows you to set the ISO to 3200 at 10 Megapixels and 8000 at 3.1 megapixels. I was surprised the shots are mostly usable at ISO 3200(with decent light but fast motion), anything higher than ISO 1600 is usually not needed IMO and the best of quality comes from 800 or less from any camera.
I don't like the 'Smart' mode very much, usually I switch it to program mode and I like to avoid using flash so I change some settings manually.
I'm used to my Nikon as it takes continuous shots over and over again but with this camera it seems to take 3 quickly and then it processes for two secs before taking more.
I think the touchscreen is a little gimmicky and is for showing off the cam, I'm indifferent to it, I don't see an advantage but the touchscreen seems to work as expected.

Under SCN mode, it has a TEXT for photos of documents. That would be handy at gatherings for 'copying' the email/username lists.
I just tested optical zooming while recording HD video on this Kodak V1073, and it does work.
The 'i' button at the lower right corner is for information on the current selected menu item. That may become useful for the lesser used functions.

I got the exact same camera on Monday, just starting to look into it now thanks to BlogTV. ;)
The only data output port covers the tripod screw.
The printed instructions are exactly the User guide PDF[6.0 MB]. Extended User Guide is online.
Does not seem to be usable as a webcam.
Touchscreen works very well, but icons have no text lables.
Turns on & charges w/USB, but wion't take photo or video.
Video quality on SD-1x card seems okay, but SDHC-6x card isn't here yet for comparison.
