"Massachusetts Mike" happened. And since he's also known as, "No Term-limits-for-me" Bloomberg,Times Square is DEAD. It's now just one big pile of garbage (literally) They can't haul the bags of garbage left by the tourists fast enough. It took a non-native to kill what made NY unique.

Blocking off part of the street is only an experiment for 4 to 6 months. Then they'll look at the revenue made or lost my the merchants and get public feedback to see if it becomes permanent. I got to say I think its a huge mistake. Time Sq is know for its traffic, noise and crowds. It may sound strange up that's what made it famous in the 1st place. Bloomberg is messing with the very mechanism that makes Time Sq, Time Sq. Why mess with something that's already working?

The charm of Times Square IS the hustle & bustle.

Heaven forbid they make this permanent. Next thing they'll do is set up a huge light show like they did on Freemont St. in old downtown Las Vegas.

They've now got staging areas in each block to entertain the seated tourists. How could this possibly translate in to more revenue for the area. And the cars ...the traffic is worse. But, watch for Bloomie's report to declare everything a success.
