In Colombia, we just let the cow do her thing, and they do a great job by themselves, most of the time. Wouldn't that be easier for both Human and cow?
On a different note, I agreed with the guy in the video, when he says that most people that have animals have compassion for them.
We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals." ~ Immanual Kant
ok, so I've never EVER EVER birthed a calf like that and have NEVER EVER heard or seen anyone else do that. If the calf isnt coming out, you dont pull on it with a chain. you let the cow go lay down for a while and do her thing. youre gonna hurt the calf that way. for everyone out there who wasnt born and raised on a farm: this is not how calves are birthed by people who know what they are doing!
@gholy5 you don't seem to know crap about pulling a calf... I used to be night manger on a 7000 cow dairy.. my main job was to produce live calves for the boss in the morning... I worked alone... most of the calves were born on my shift.... and still the 3 guys on the day shift doing my job had more dead calves than I did...
Animal Planet confuses me today. What the hell is with this channel anymore? Why are they showing a program about people that often artificially inseminate their animals and raise them for meat? I thought this channel was supposed to promote kind treatment of animals and finding new ways of co-existing with them. Not how many we can turn into burgers.
@Razzlewolfflight Because most people & probably most their viewers aren't hippies & live in the real world...where animals serve mankind, not the other way around. There's gotta' be a PITA (YouTube) channel somewhere you can watch.
@wgmyler It's spelled PETA not PITA, which is a type of bread, you idiot. No I don't watch PETA because they are notorious for killing more animals than they save. I am also not a "hippie" as you put it simply because I would prefer animals alive to dead. Go have fun giving yourself heart disease with the cow you are inevitably going to eat for lunch.
@Razzlewolfflight go cry to PETA or stop being so ignorant. this is life. we use animals for food just like animals use eachother for food. this is how its always been and A.P. isnt hiding that fact.
@Razzlewolfflight You damn fool, you must know nothing about agriculture whatsoever. This is a calving operation, meaning their cows give birth and then they sell the calves fore money, sure they sell the older cows for meat. Animal Planet IS showing how cows give birth and the different techniques ranchers use for first time cows giving birth and feet first calves. That is kind treatment ya damn fool.
@Razzlewolfflight Also they treat their animals very well in this operation, because if they don't they'll lose cattle and in turn they'll lose money. SO of course they treat their animals very well. And it is not like Animal Planet is showing the process of getting meat from cows they are merely showing the calving season.

@Razzlewolfflight I think they try to be unbiased, plus you can still raise meat and be kind to animal.
