These knives are great if you take care of them. You can literary cut anything with them (wel anything lower then a 8). You can cut circles out of windows and shit....its pretty cool.
I'd say that for now, the type of ceramic we're using in knives isn't appropriate at all, it's way too brittle to be really useable outside of a Chef's personal kitchen..
@chibraxial - I agree it's not for tactical use, even though Boker advertises their ceramic folders now as "tactical folders" I think it is best used as a folding kitchen utility or super sharp but light work utility.
Mirror finish is sooooo nice than the matte finish blade............but I like G-10 handle better than the carbon fiber handle, they are almost the same, but I still prefer G-10.
I hope we see more of these ceramic knives outside of the kitchen market. For people like me who don't use their knives very hard, a decently priced ceramic-blade folder sounds great.
i think the chipping depends on a certain grade you have on ceramic knives ... not brand/company related, but i've seen ceramic knives 100$ and more and i've seen ceramic knives betweeb 10$-20$ ... i really think there's a certain grade of ceramic like you hav with damascus ... i've seen videos on people having a expensive ceramic kitchen knife and throwing it on the stone kitchen floor and nothing happenned ... so maybe have to check if there's any grade or quality , etc ... anyway i'll do ;)
Seems like it'd be a good choice for a bug-out bag, but not so much as an everyday use folder. My EDC knife is an inexpensive Sheffield, but I maintain it scalpel sharp. I use my knife as a tool, and like my other tools, it needs to be able to take some abuse. Ceramic knives are too brittle for daily use, but good for situations where you can't lug around a 10lb. Wicked Edge Sharpener with a granite base to touch up the edge regularly.
Nice review, thanks for that. Would you say that this knife can be used as a kitchen knife (to prepare food and stuff)? I know that there are other knifes for that but I just love how this one looks and I want to use it xD
@Acidx1337 Yes definitely, I actually have a Boker Ceramic 4 inch fixed blade that is a kitchen utility knife, I would consider this to be a smaller folding version of it. ~Israel
@WeAllJuggleKnives Hi i'm wandering how well ceramic blades could stab, obviously I don't want to stab hard surfaces, more like soft surfaces, and I'm wandering how well the tip would do against bone... probably not very well from the look of your kitchen knifes... of wait.. guess I should have watched your entire video before I started typing.. its useless to me then, thanks for all the info man, you saved me over 169$
Now THAT was very cool. Interesting departure from tactical focus. I've been "ceramic curious" for a while now, and the styling of this (and the Anti-MC) ticles me JUST enought ot want to pull the trigger on this one.
Thanks for your perspective. (and all your hard video work as well.)
that knife is a cool factor of 10 but i would carry a separated knife for kicking someones ass with. it has a lonewolf type clip doesnt it. like on your diablo. hows the diablo going by the way. that black blade is sexy. do you have to take different measures to sharpen a ceramic blade or can you just use the normal sharpening methods? thats why ive avoided ceramics until now. the only ceramic i love is the toilet. i dont avoid that item. oh kay you mentioned you need special shit. maybe diamond
@JohnWayneColt45 - They're basically the same blade, different handles :] I'll be reviewing the Anti-MC soon too. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. ~Israel
Once again Sensei punches out a great reveiw, funky ceramic blade and carbon fiber handles, yer more a collectors peice, but still for the price gota be a winner! cheers brother best wishes and stay safe.
Seems like a great collection item - ceramic blade makes it a good conversation piece! The Anti-MC looks nice too with the titanium framelock. Nice addition.
Ceramic blade very interesting. It's probably a bi**h to sharpen. Crazy how you used it for 2 years and it's still sharp. Very cool. Another great review by Israel ;)
In the 7:50 range you mention that you would not want to use it for self-defense, but it would be a decent EDC knife. But then you would have to carry an additional self-defense knife for fighting. So ya it is light weight, but wouldn't you save weight if you just carry one knife steel blade instead of having to carry 2?
@WeAllJuggleKnives ya I see your point, a few ounces ain't gonna be noticed. I sometimes carry my 629-1 when I get the wild hair to do so, and it ways a whole lot more than my Glock 30. Hell, I used to carry the SAW 249 around as my EDC, so I guess my comment was typed when I had a few shots of Johnnie Walker in me and I thought I was shedding light on something!!!!!!!
Do you think there are diffent grades of ceramic just like steel? I ask because I saw some ceramic folders on Deal-extream (dot) com that were very moderate in price and free shiping. -Vincent
@LastDEF - I do have a $20 ceramic folder I bought from one of those foreign version of Ebay sites, it was a copy of a $50 knife. It was pretty cool, although it did not have a thumbstud like the knife it copied. So yeah there are some bargain ones out there, they're cool, not as nice looking as the Boker though. ~Sensei Israel
Very interesting knife, love that deep carry clip! Last week I got myself a boker titan drop point, seemed an interesting blade, once I receive it i'll do a review to show you!
Thanks for picking that up! I wonder how long the tip would stay pointed if I were to EDC the blade? I have the kershaw leek and it too has a delicate tip, but it is not brittle. Interesting and I was not aware of this type of knife in that price point. Thanks my friend, awesome blade to add to a collection!

how practical is a ceramic blade for utility its seems like it would chip easily

@mrsjosie2024 - They've been used as utility blades in the kitchen for a long time, but I don't EDC any ceramics myself.
