  • i dont get how ppl get so much horsepower out of these other then turbo nothing else u put on makes a big horsepower difference unless "tuning" gains u a shit load i know a turbo will do like 100 or so but how u get 400+hp out of single turbo running about 120 stock? some1 tell me plz?

  • ok i have a question about tuning my car.. d16z6 turbo.. the ecu is a chipped p05 on crome but i also installed the vafc 2.. now, i read that this vafc2 is complete garbage and i want to tune for boost.. i'm lookin at 14 psi.. it's my dd.. maybe more.. but, i want to get rid of the vafc but does anyone know what is everything i need to tune? and using crome, do i need to burn a new chip every tune i make an adjustment? or just a cord from ecu to laptop and tune on the fly? no wideband yet either

  • would a LS block and a GSR head put out the same numbers as a 100% GSR engine? if they were both boosted or both N/A and all the same I/H/E?

  • i dont think so, my friends turbo gsr is making 500whp exactly but the tq is at like 340tq/ft. i think it just has to do with it being a small engine with little displacement. but thats just my guess

  • yep, can't expect a small engine to make massive torque.

  • hp determines the amount of grip. not crank tq. and besides, the relationship of tq and rpm determines hp. reducing tq while keeping the same hp doesnt mean you have more traction.... clearly your understanding of hp and tq is off. TQ is the amount of rotation you can get from 1 instance without regard to time. as in, bigger the motor, more tq, more compression, more tq etc...your stang has more tq becuase its probably 3 times larger...but the hp is the same cuase the 4 banger revs higher..

  • for someone who uses logic your a bit off, considering that this car is front wheel drive if it produces much torque it will break traction , the weight shifts to the back during hard acceleration and you lose grip. torque is the force the car can twist the tires at, torque wins races but alos responsible for breaking traction, its about balance, in a front wheel car hi torque is a no no, in awd and rwd drive cars its great because they dont lose traction as easy...

  • and higher revs doesnt mean more power. higher reves means power at a more constant rate , not more of it, you have a wider power band but wont necessarily make more power, the 4.6 doesnt rev very hard but it's been known to make 800hp same as the 5.4's

  • hp does not determine the amount of grip, goddam retard, you can build a monster hp car but if you cant put it to the ground what good is it.

  • Lol you didn't mention tapping new oil feeds, tapping dowel pins and resealing old ones, new ecu is needed, cometic head gasket.

  • The vtec gives you extra rpms and stronger internals than the stock b18a or b18b. Although, for a little more money than the head swap and about the same as a complete b18c swap, you can rebuild a b18a, b18b with all forged and balanced internals and bore to 85mm, and it can handle more boost and is less likely to break than the b18c. Vtec is awsome if you dont wanna boost though.

  • thnx, do you know how much hp can you squeeze out of a bone stock motor with boost safely for a daily driver?

  • the B18C(vtec) can handle about 9 psi with stock parts, I wouldnt boost a stock B18A/B. Anyway, 350hp is about the most you can get out of it and still have useable power, otherwise you need drag tires and it dont become a daily driver anymore. I have 275whp @6psi and its a great daily driver with lots of pull and lots of room for more power.

  • excellent btw. i hate when people talk about hondas like all of them are ricers and overdone. it may be true that they're all over the place but the point is to stand out above everyone else in the tuner community regardless of what car u have.

  • I agree some domestic drivers on this site talk as if these cars aren't capable over 350hp. For being a 4&6 cylinder thats impressive to me.
