I think this song is about the Medieval belief that fevers were caused by fae creatures (such as dragons) attempting to steal a person away. This explained why snake/spiderbites, punctures, plants & illness could cause a person to see things that weren't there - they were partway into the fae realm.The medieval boy was stolen by the fae & now he's trying to lure in his 'love', while she's trying to resist his enchanted fever. Just my thoughts. Beautifully original song idea! I love. <3

According to the fairy tale "the green children" the little boy develops a sickness that turns his skin green,and she waits by his bedside holding his hand till he recovers. It goes to modern day and she is deadly ill. Shes stirring and feverish. Passes out and see's him in a vision,chasing him trying to catch him,talk to him..
