Reason Madden sold more copies than 2k5 is because it's the most household name and it has also been around for longer. Also because tons of parents buy it for their kids and they don't care anything about physics or realism at all.

EA already knows that they'll make millions every year by selling 'recooked meat' with just added ingredients and tricking people because they have no other option. It's only when you compare their product to the real deal (NFL Nk5) where you can see all its flaws.

Madden already had a following that expected more from it. 2K5 came in and raised the bar that year immensely which is why EA had to buy the rights to the NFL so they could keep turning out shit with a few improvements. But then they'd kill things that already worked well. Like FG defense in Madden 02 was damn near perfect. Then they murdered it and has sucked ever since, replaced by "QB Vision" which was innovative and important, but now gone too. 2K5 owned Madden that year.

In all honesty even with the newer versions of this game 2K5 had some of the best things that the newer models completely forget. Kickass song tracks with the ability to change them, better Overalls (that seemed to make more sense honestly) and some of the best players that are out now because of injuries ro cant play as well because of them. 2K5 FTW!
