i played this in year 8 for the guitar ensemble :D hahhahaha i used to think this song was so hard to play until i eventually got it, now i cant remeber how it goes :(
what a great performance by the shads.I also loved Mark's little bass solo in the middle as Brian was doing one of his little fab drum solo's.Mark has been a great part of the shads.
The best group on earth, we should stimulated our kids to play this kind of music again.Starting some groups at school and let them take lessons for guitar, this may never die.
If you want to hear an excellent Brian Bennett drum solo, check out "Captain Haddock Is Missing" (I kid you not...that's what it's called) I think that it's also on the same Liverpool Empire video.
Despite what some other commenters have said, I really like this version. It might not be quite as rough and rocking as previous versions, but it has a nice tempo that sits somewhere in-between the faster and slower Shadoogies of the past, and the guys seem to really have fun with it - especially Brian on the drum solo.
I love the Shads in general and shadoogie in particular, but I must admit this is not their best version; it sounds a bit like good amateurs imitating the Shadows.
At the risk of making myself look a fool in the Shadow (pun intended) of your obvious superior musical knowledge, I would remind you that your hero (one of mine too) TE, was inpsired by HBM's unique style. The "lame co-ordinated dancing" is also admired by TE, here on You tube you will find TE himself "boogieing" whilst playing this same "shite" with a Shadows tribute band. I look forward to you posting your version of guitar boogie for us to admire!
good old fashioned guitarists, no ear pieces in or back up music, just genuine live music. quality musicianship!!
