J'ai entendu des meilleures chanteuses interpréter cette chanson. La seule chose que je reconnais de Céline Dion, c'est qu'elle caresse des gros dollars avec vigueur. Céline massacre cette chanson de manière épouvantable.

This is astounding! I've been listening to opera for over 40 years and have seldom encountered a Carmen who could really bring this music to life as Celine does here. Completely in character and conveying the message of the music. No, she's not an opera singer, and not imitating one, just doing this her own way while being respectful to the music and text. BRAVA!

l'interpretation "lyrique" de beaucoup de chanteur d'opera ne convient pas à cet air. Céline Dion à 17 ans y donne une interprétation très convaincante, mais sans contre-ut. Dommage que la Céline Dion d'aujourd'hui n'ait pas autant de sensibilité et de caractère dans son chant.

I'm an operafan, but I loved this. She puts more meaning into it than an opera singer concerned with projection can. The extra beat on the final note provides a more satisfying ending than the way Bizet wrote it.

OMG! I think this was her Italian tour in May of 85 - which would make her only 17! She can and does sing anything.  It really upsets me when people say that Celine is not professionally trained. Then apparently, she never needed to be!

I love her version so much, but I love Maria Callas' version as well. Celine sings the song it seductively while Maria Callas is an opera singer, with her own operatic romance. I love both equally, it brings the song diversity.
