  • True :) Only defense run, if you cant run than keep throat and say "God Help Me"

  • I love this vid and instructor (whoever the hell he is). What he says is 100% true. I've NEVER seen a real knife attack anything like what you see in most martial arts demos, the frenzied attack that this guy demostrates is true almost EVERY time.

  • that guy dies yesterday from knife attack

  • Dude stop swinging that around for emphasis. You're gonna stab yourself in the eye. :)

  • if someone pulls a knife on you, you better f***ing run like hell!

  • good points. i like it too but as a general rule. i learned to gain control of the weapon hand followed by small joint manipulation ie. wrist finders elbow. neck.. and i believe that these scenarios are exactly what aikido (true) aikido as well as posibly krav maga and shodokan are for not to mention special ops training in the military. which is basiclly sneak up and kill you type shit.

  • 0:37 its called cooper color code black

  • this is indeed the reality of knife attacks

  • Krav Maga is better....

  • @ctwpianoman Krav Maga, hahahahahaaaaa, Hollywood BS

  • @jbravo41 Think before you speak, look it up....

  • This is the most honest, straight forward, in your face, no BS instructor I have seen in years.

  • @Shadowbear001 Agreed. It's refreshing to watch. Knife attacks are fast, furious, and dirty.

  • In an ideal world: Fus Ro Dah the cunt!

  • Richard Dimitri, pure gold as usual. One the five best RBSD instructors WORLDWIDE !!!

  • When he has you by the shirt with one hand and is going to do an under hand strike with the knife hand couldn't you use the han close to his back to grab his face and pull back while sweeping his closer leg forward putting him on the ground and open to a counter attack?

  • Pepper spray - best solution .... even if u are a guy ...if the pussy has the balls to carry a knife ,than u have the right to use your pepper spray...and then ,kick the shit out of him ;)

  • so...the moment someone wielding a knife grabs me like that what do i do? personally before he even thinks of stabbing me i'll give him a hard kick straight in the nuts! honour? the fucker is trying to kill me! note that i've been doing karate for 8 years and i'm a fucking hard kicker...even though there is no kick in the nuts technique :P

  • I also notice in many of these vids, Rich loves to get to the face and turn the head away. That's outstanding.. a common practice in Silat, it's called Putar Kepala (turning the skull).. and it's for exactly the same reason.. turn the attackers head, you change the alignment of their body and gain leverage and entry. Meanwhile, you hit anything and everything.. punish the joints, use your elbows, your knees, go for the eyes.. this person wants to kill you.. do damage and do it fast!

  • Furthermore, if you can legally carry a pocket knife and you want to be realistic about knife defense.. do it! This situation he's demonstrating changes a LOT if I have a knife as well.. an equalizer that levels the playing field... will I trade blow for blow? Absolutely.. I'll give him a non vital, put my arm in the way of the attack without giving him my flexor or arteries (meaning the backs of the hands) and I'll deliver my own knife into the regions he's left unprotected.

  • I love how realistic he is about knife attacks, however, there are a TON of variables in any close combat situation.. what he's demonstrating here, is empty hand against a knife.. best defense, don't do it if you don't have to. Use "Monkey" Kung Fu and throw anything and everything you can in his face, and keep MOVING! If you have to engage him.. cover inside and out.. break the damn arm, don't worry about fists or grapples.. will you get cut? Probably.. your goal is to survive though.

  • Part 2: I want someone to try that on me.The danger is the person weilding the knife---not the knife.

Your goal is to take out the person, then the knife is no longer a threat to you.As soon as the person grabs---you should instantly react using that un-expected technique. The element of surprise is a powerful ally.

  • If someone locks a grab on you w/one hand, while doing that underhand stabbing w/the other--- that he was talking about, that is hard to defend...all you have to do, is simply lock your grab on his hand that is grabbed, and locked on your shirt, and simply twist and fall on that arm. Most likely breaking that opponent left arm in the process. This is not the arm weilding the weapon, so many pay it no mind.Another plusof this technique, is the fact that the danger arm will end-up away frm you.

  • As the strikes vary in so many ways......so does the knife attacks. So the defence against attacks will also vary.....from simple to complicated....from textbook attack to strange/awkward to very violent.......so it pays to know/study all the defences against it, not just one......

  • FOR FUCK SAKES!!! KICK THE ATTACKER IN THE FUCKING BALLS WITH ALL YOUR FUCKING MIGHT, THAT IS A 100 PERCENT GARUNTEE HELL DROP TO THE FLOOR HOLDING HIS NUTS WITH BOTH HANDS. just saying :)

  • Here is another fact. No matter how hard you punch or kick the attacker, he will continue stabbing you unless you can knock him out. Neither you nor him will feel any pain while fighting for survival. You got to either knock him out or just grab his knife holding arm and wrestle him. I have seen many videos where attackers are shot multiple times and yet still continue stabbing. They die 30 mins later from gun shot, but so do you from stab wounds.

  • THE BEST KNIFE DEFENCE VIDEO I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! TRUE THAT!!!

  • shit just got real .

  • This the true reality of a knife attack. There really is no "this is the way you defend". All techniques are right and wrong and all situations are different. I pray I never have to face a lunatic with a knife.

  • @SkemeKOS As do I. I live in a hood where idiots with knives is way to common. I would rather be in just about any situation than going up against a guy with a blade.

  • he looks like Lenin

  • Try waki-gatame in the situation at 2:30. You have to do the variation where you sit out to the floor, so the knife attacker is forced face down to his stomach, or he can still go for the leg. Be careful not to break his arm on the way down, so learn basic judo before practicing, if you don't already know. There are judo methods that are far more effective for a knife attack than much of what is out there, but few know them. Good video: it's important to look at this situation.

  • very practical, nice vid.

  • At last a clip showing real defence....

Well...that means there are least two of us now !!

  • Dont' you love teaching in jeans!? lol

  • @ChadC919 If you want to show me something I would show you my form.

  • @ChadC919 Ahh man! YOu got vids.

  • Excellent question NYCParkourAddict. This is Chris. I am the guy who has his shirt grabbed by Richard Dimitri. My answer is "maybe". What many people forget is that when someone is driving you backwards as they may likely do while stabbing at you, trying to get any balance to execute a knee strike is difficult and hard to generate a lot of power as well. Yes, it works when you are drilling things slowly, but if you really pressure test with lots of intensity, hard to deliver them. Thanks

  • @64chrisroberts Sorry I didn't respond sooner. Thank you for your informative and timely response, it was very helpful.

  • Quick question, when someone has you by the shirt like how he was holding the volunteer and about to stab you, can't you do a knee strike with a kick, even a side knee strike, and possibly causing the attacker's knee to break?

  • i say follow your instinct and do what best u can in a knife attack

  • sorry for my spelling now. i have been doing all marshall arts over the years told do this do that, i have worked in europ doing all kinds of self defence work, all i can say is this video is correct no one way to defend is correct all i can say is KISS keep it simple stupid the basic the move the easyer to rember when you are attacked, good vedeo by the way.

  • This guy is right on! I have years of knife defense techniques under my belt, but the knife is not sharp & my partner does not intend to hurt me. Grandmaster Remy A. Presas (RIP) has always told me, that if a guy has a knife & he asks for your money, just give him the money. Once he was held up for his leather jacket, & he gave it to him, well knowing he could have demolished this guy.

  • @CaptianKeyz At last someone talking sense. I think the one thing that knife defense techniques teach you, is how not to lose your focus when being attacked or threatened. When you're focused, you can think about the situation, try to reason with the attacker or plan your flight.

  • 360 defence in krav maga is not circling around ur opponent .its a method of blocking the attacking hand while punching the guy in the face with the other hand while constantly moving forward in a bursting motion . ur blocking hand should be bent at a 120 deg. angle. u should look it up on utube. its a very effective method of stopping the attack like the ones in the video . i am not knocking ur video, i am just saying that its worth having a look at 360 defence as well, thanks for the videos .

  • He's funny =3

  • this is the most realistic and accurate thing I've found so far on self defense on youtube. I learned the same thing from a French Legionnaire. The reality is there is no 100% proof defense against a knife so when I see dumb stuff that others show just makes me angry.

  • why not try 360 defence in krav maga ? its designed for those very type of attacks !

  • @vikingproducts Isn't that what he was kind of doing circling around him?

  • Comment removed

  • love this guys energy...

  • An honest instructor.

  • nice to see someone who knows what he is doing and where also reality is made clear..not everyone is willing to say that there is no correct defence for certain types of attack.

keep up the good work there.

  • i dont think most people understand the leathality of a knife.

  • @notregme but he gets it .

  • more sensible than most teaching videos.

  • This guy's got a lot of VERY valid points, but the way he talks and moves makes him look like he's tweaked out on something, and his coarse language is a bit overboard. Dude needs to pop some Ritalin or cut back on the coffee and be a little more professional with his words, and he'd have a lot more public appeal. Again, he's got a lot of sound logic and points, but his presentation skills need some work.

  • @darkwriter77 He's simply expressing the intensity of training through adrenalized situations. That hyper behavior - a guy like HIM - is what you might see some day in a lethal situation.

  • This guy is a genius

  • A friend of mine showed me this yesterday, he told me it was very close to what I've been teaching the last several years. It is very close. I don't know why more FMA instructors don't incorporate this type of attack training.

  • so basically is you get in a fight with someone with a knife youve got a 95% chance of getting cut?

  • @cowboyfromkettins THAT´S CORRECT MOST OF THE TIME

  • the best thing you can do is - run as long you are not injured =)

  • idiot

  • That is Richard Dimitri of Senshido International doing demo with me, Chris Roberts. Senshido and SAFE International have formed a coalition due to our similar philosophies on reality based self defense. Richard has instructors all over the world. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks

  • @chrisroberts64 Awesome! One of few Ive ever seen NOT trying to sell bullshit. Definetely doing some more research.

  • @chrisroberts64 do you have any instructors in atlanta-contact me at mistercalsmith@yahoo.com if so,thanks

  • So fucking good video man, he knows the real deal!!!!!!!!!

  • And the dude holding the knife most of the time acctualy looks like he is going to stab him :3

  • I have watched 100's of knife vids on youtube & this is 1 of only a handful of guys that makes any sense.

U either have to be in a knife fight or learn from a guy who has been in a knife fight in order to have a clue. Fortunately, I have experience with both. Once it goes 3rd generation, u learn dojo/classroom fantasy rather than reality.

How can a guy who hasn't been in a knife fight or hasn't heard 1st hand what a knife fight is about, know what an actual knife fight is about (DBMA)?

  • This guy is a horrible teacher. How I even ended up on this video, I dont know. But this guy makes it seem like you have no chance.

He has no idea what he's talking about.

I've had numorous knifes pulled on me and none of them came close to stabbing or cutting me. Mabey thats just my fighting experience, but seriously, he is a bad teacher.

  • @FutureLinebakr You have nothing on your channel or any subscribers or friends that would lead me to believe that you have any significant fighting experience whatsoever.

If you think this guy is a bad teacher I will guarantee that you have never had anybody pull a knife on you except someone who didn't want to hurt you in the first place.

Go take a second Krav Maga class, yougot nothing from the first free one.

Don't bother responding, I have already blocked you troll.

  • @FutureLinebakr And what's your palladin's level again? :P

  • @sprai7 What the hell are you talking about?

  • the thing is that in real situation u have spect th unespected, and this guy explains that the unespected, so this is a real, i know the prsonal def teachers explain how to do and so this and do that, but noone really is specting a real adrenaline situation, and Mr Dimitri tries to teach how to get a defense in a REAl exteme situation, and thers a few who can do that, u can be a super 5 Dan blackbelt master but, if get attaked by surprice well, really i dont know if u dont get hurt

  • at 3:28: Defense with your fists.....i don´t think so

  • A glock from distance is useless. go shoot one b4 posting ya fucktard

  • my mate was stabbed to fuck in london and not one of us saw the knife flying around at the time..theres too many variables in real life fights and you cant use many self defense systems in reality

  • @FLYonTheWALL420

are you gonna walk around with it out? cause if not then your 'glock' is useless. guns are only useful at long range and no fight happens at long range

  • i wonder what (other?) kali instructors, etc. say about this.

  • This guy is absolutely awesome. He is truthfully intense, and shows the real shit that happens. All of the bench talking tough-guy bullshit in the world will go right out the window when you find yourself in that situation. Regardless of the method of violence that could be used against you...complacency will get you killed!

  • How about instead of complaining, he comes up with techniques to fight somebody with a knife.

  • The last part > break the knee... It might be scary but if you know how to do it you can quickly excecute it. The attacker will focus everything on his own pain and emotions and let go making it able for you to get away.

  • isn't easier to give up instead of fight?

  • Great video. A knife attack is dangerous, period. Good to train against, but you could only do so much. One being, get back at the sum-bitch trying to kill you. I highly agree at training to punch the arms coming at you, or even just in front of you. I have robot arms I practice blocking by hand and by punch. It certainly can be done. The robot arms are as fast as human punches and can take the abuse of punch-blocks.

  • Best defense for a knife attack. Is meet the demands of the robber. Usually your getting jacked for some money.

    Run them pockets!!!

  • We need more of this to send out the message to all those who feel their Aikido, bjj, Karate, Tkd, etc etc will work in a real knive attack ! IT WILL FUCKING NOT!! Keep up the good work .

  • Wow finally a good honest no BS look at why knives are so dangerous. Hats off to this guy for not claiming to have all the answers. Plus I love that he at least tries to explain that the guy with the knife may well be a crazy guy that scares you into bad decisions when under pressure. It all happens so fast.

  • great video, very sensible attitude

  • The problem with knife attack is that people is too much concentrate on knife. Knife does not kill by itself. So, if you want to survive knife attack you must ATTACK attacker! If you control attacker, you control a knife too. If you control a knife (hand with knife) that does not mean that you control attacker. First defence from knife attack is awarness! Nice vid.

  • This guy is a fucking NUTTER lol good vid!!!

  • Reality. There is just no telling. It's 50/50 live or die.

  • This is real shit

  • I find his cussing to stab at my sensibilities.

  • This makes so much more sense.... The attacker is not gonna take his time to stab.

  • If you don't know how to do, is not good to say that someone else doesen''t know how...

  • Richard Dimitri is the ultimate self defence instructor. I have seen violence on many levels so I know what works. This guy talks pure sense

  • Nice sermon, Dude...Seriously. I preach this myself. As you know; flash sell...this kind of reality scares the fuck out of people.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Yes it does. There are so many fancy knife defense systems out there which plain just don't work when attacked realistically. Fancy looks good in marketing though.

  • @chrisroberts64 I was taught knife defence in my old MA school. They said "If someone pulls a knife on you, run. If you can't, just do your best, you're gonna get cut. At least try to tie your shirt round your hands if you can to protect them." End of lesson.

  • @chrisroberts64 are you the guy in the video?.. coz i really liked what he said,i would have loved it if he didn't look like he was on crack but i guess it's the love for teaching that takes control of you and it happens to me too :) last question, what kind of martial art does he teach?.. thank you.

  • @chrisroberts64 the basic knife defenses of many systems doesn't even scratch the surface of the reality. the most direct and simplest methods may work or even those may not, depending of the attacker's aggression and ability. u don't get much time to judge his ability beforehand so it's either 100% or lose. one good way if u manage to do it is to push his head away from u while trying to move to the non knife hand side. it may give u few valuable seconds to finish it. prepare for draining blood

  • @chrisroberts64 your exactly right...these ''masters'' would probably get fucked up in a real attack

  • Wow that made me rethink a lot about knife attacks.I guess turn and run makes alot of sence.

  • @slashman67 abso-fucking-lutely
