Congratulations! I wish I had seen it on tv when it was airing. I would have said, "I know that guy!" and my friends would have been like, "Shut up, Josh." Then they'd try to argue with me and I'd pull up your Youtube site. Then they'd say something lame like, "Well, have you met him in person?" and I'd be like, "Not yet... I guess that's a good point." And they'd be like, "yeah, so shut up."

i was skippin over commercials the other night and something caught my eye. a single frame. so i skipped back and recognized it as this commercial! tv land wouldnt have to worry about people skippin through ads if the advertisers were all this good. ive watched the 4 seconds of your "parents acted like our gov" vid of your sons face and yall mocking him back a million times. well, nearly. good stuff!

wow. i was sitting in my room with the tv blasting in the living room when the music on this video started playing on the tv. ive seen this video before and i just started humming the tune while it played in the background not even realizing what i just heard, then after the commercial ended i realized "wait, what the hell? wasnt that music from a video in some skinit contest?" so i ran out there a few minutes later when i heard the music play again and i saw this and it was awesome so yeah :)

Kill any dummies lately?

The garage scene is very straightforward and can be done with any editing software. After I shot the action of me walking into the garage, I walked out of frame and let the camera run a few more seconds.

In the editing timeline I place the actor-less clip above the action one. After I walk past the threshold of the 'door' I used the 'cropping feature' to 'close' the (above layered) door/clip.

I am not familiar with either of those programs, but if they allow layering of one clip on top of the other, and if they allow cropping [all basic editing tools], I don't see why you can't do it.

The indoor footage looks really good. What did you film this with? The voice over also sound good. I think it takes too long to get to what you are trying to sell though.

Yeah, I def. could have produced this commercial at 30 seconds and competed the branding message.

Skinit wanted 1:00 so that is what they got.

If you look at some of the spots that start selling 'the product' earlier in the 1:00, it sort of gets a little old when 45 seconds later they're still selling the same product and their visuals don't change too much.

I don't think it takes more than 12-18 seconds to explain this brand/product. It's pretty straightforward.

BTW. I have pair of Sony HDRFX-1's (prosumer). I plan on upgrading whenever RED releases their baby sister camera. It was originally called SCARLETT and were just about to release for sale, but then took it back into production for more improvements. If you hear anything about it, please let me know.

You should try the Sony EX-1 and a Letus Extreme 35mm adapter. You can get some AMAZING footage with that camera (it was also use for B-Roll footage in one of the upcoming blockbusters). You never know how many more times that RED is going to make changes to their Scarlet and push the date forward. ;-)

Yeah, except the Scarlett is supposed to come off the line UNDER $3K. I've produced several national commercials with these babies (FX1's), so I'm not in too much of a hurry to kick them out of bed andy time soon.
