  • Its a great cover and may bring new fans to Yngwie.

  • Allan + Yngwie = Inspiration to the entire cosmos!

  • The purpose of this cover, whether you like it or not, is simply for Yngwie to pay tribute to artists that have inspired him, hence the title of the album itself. Some may like the cover, some obviously don't. Either way, Jobson & Wetton are the ones who are making their cut of the $ off the album sales. In rare cases, the cover will actually eclipse the original, like "Black Magic Woman" or "Blinded By the Light"... Hopefully some Yngwie fans will search out the original, and purchase it!

  • @Radharc thank you, am quite glad someone got it that this was not about one-upping the original song, but paying tribute to it. And if you ask me, I feel it's a damn good tribute. I have checked out the original, and hats off to UK for writing such a brilliant song, I just happen to enjoy this version a bit more due to what I feel is a stronger arrangement overall. If you like the original better, well that is fine by me too. :)

  • @MrRandomnessVids Scroll down a little further and read the post that starts with 'George Benson'. I sort of like Marilyn Manson..I like Trent Reznor better. But I think Boyd Rice, who came waaay before them, and whom they both modelled themselves after, was much better. But I find Yngwie's stuff derivative...and he hasn't evolved. Have you checked out Holdsworth yet? Or do you just listen to metal?

  • @misterstax yes sir, I did check out Holdsworth, and I agree, he certainly is a talent. BTW, I know who George Benson is, and I heard his rendition of "On Broadway" many, many times in my life. I do not listen to just metal, I'm pretty eclectic and open with my stuff.

  • George Benson...'On Broadway' was completely re-arranged...see what I'm saying? This isn't re-done in any way, it's just his playing over the original arrangement. BTW, have you ever listened to Allan Holdsworth? There's a vid on Youtube of him with Soft Machine, from the early 70s. You'll see him play out of 3 or 4 keys within 2 octaves when he plays over changes...Yngwie can't play over the changes. Allan's a masterat that...if you haven't already, I strongly urge you to check him out.

  • @MrRandomnessVids; I've always had it that the point of doing a cover is to take it in a completely different direction than the original so it takes on a different voice, which this doesn't, at least for me. It's like Glee...I love hearing the mash-ups because you hear both tunes in completely different contexts than originally intended.

  • @misterstax you pretty much invalidated your statements right there IMHO, with mentioning "Glee" (trash) and saying that a cover has to take it in a whole new direction for it to be good. Yes, there are some great covers that do just that, for instance Marylin Manson's take on "Sweet Dreams", but more often than not, when a cover goes a completely different direction, it completely destroys the song and is so bad you can't help but either laugh or be insulted that someone destroy a great song.

  • @MrRandomnessids...I can see how I might seem overheated on this but please imagine a completely calm tone of voice as you read it. Have you ever actually met him? Everytime I've been around him he's totally insufferable, a real jerk. I love the original too, but I wouldn't ever try to cover it because it's in poor taste. Better to learn from it, and as Elton says..."grow some funk of your own". I can't help but see Yngwie as stuck playing the same 3 scales ad nauseum.

  • @misterstax I have indeed heard that the guy was a jerk from another who seemingly met him as well. What is wrong with a cover, particularly a well done one? He's certainly done plenty of original material too, considering he's been active for almost 3 decades now. So I'd say he's indeed grown some funk of his own. Yes, apparently he's a dick, and I'm sorry I've never met him, but while I do not doubt you, I am still a fan of this rendition of the song.

  • As a lover of music I find it really insulting to hear this for a few reasons...the main question being why do it in the first place? Probably because the idiotic egotistical Wingnut thinks he can do better. Which he CAN NOT. He doesn't understand the modality required to attain the beauty of Holdsworth and only knows how to run 3 scales into the dirt. Boring. And totally unnecessary.

  • @misterstax wow dude, calm down. I love how people get so worked up over a cover. If you actually read the sleeve of Yngwie's "Inspiration", you'd see that he had jammed to this song for YEARS, and said he always loved it, and someone finally convinced him to record it in full, which he did, and I feel he did do a better job overall with the song, and that's saying something considering UK were ingenious with the writing of the song in the first place.

  • This is a great cover ------ my big brother intoduced me to the original.......and this is superb too......

  • didn't know this album existed!

  • @jordan7792 Yeah, it was a rather uncommon find for some time. Also, I did edit the pitch so it's one octave higher than what you'll hear on the album, I actually feel it sounds much better because of it.

  • @MrRandomnessVids I feel it's not just an octave higher. Cause Yngwee transposed it to a tone lower than the original.

  • GREAT

  • @yngwiefangirl08 Glad you enjoy :) this was originally one pitch lower, but I edited it so it'd sound closer to the original.
