Mother brain was not reporgrammed by the Space Pirates, she uses them:

"Mother Brain.. saw potential in the pirates and decided that with them helping, she could bring true order to the universe.."

And Ridley is NOT the leader of the Space Pirates:

"Ridley is a high ranking Space Pirate...."

I think everyone who survives longer than 10 years as a Pirate, gets High Command status:

"High Command is the ruling body of the Space Pirates..."

@MarcyAMcOtt Yes, it's true that Mother Brain was created by the chozo and after becoming self aware,she decided that she would work with the space pirates to achieve her own goals. I'm glad someone finally got it =] Unfortunatly Ridley hasn't survived at all. He dies in every game. Even Super Smash Brothers Brawl! I mean come on!!! Ridley is one of the most badass bosses of all time and he can't stay alive. I'm surprised he's never been demoted...Then again, maybe it's because he comes back,lol

I did, by the way, read the E-manga, and watched the opening, when the pirates came and MB controled them, she was thinking she was an equal, she never rebelled, gray bird, or whatever his name was again, tryed to kill MB eventualy, and failed. I only read his comment that said MB is an AU.

actually, it is. Mother Brain was the very first Aurora Unit, she was beuilt by the chozo originally. But she was stolen and reprogramed for space pirate usage. The chozo then gave the technology to build AUs to the federation after the failure of mother brain. where the federation improved on the technology over the years to create the AUs you see in Metroid Prime 3.

It's kinda unclear, I think that the chozos gave the Feds. the technology, and then when they where raided and Ridley killed Samus' parents, they stole an AU and that's mother brain.

Both the sides for Mother Brain's origins have good arguments: The data for mother brain in the first 3 games stated that she was "masters of technical operations on Zebes" fitting the Aurora Unit. However, in the manga, The Chozo refer to her as "a divine source of counsel". so really i dunno.

I'm pretty sure that it's the metroid manga that says the Chozo built the mother brain. The manga isn't canon, so technically the official story doesn't have an explanation for the mother brain origins (Although it was the space pirates that rebuilt it for Super Metroid).

1. Mother Brain was created by the Chozo to carry on and retain data. Mother Brain saw the Space Pirates as the best solution to keep itself protected and as such had the Chozo destroyed as they were obsolete for its purpose.

2. Metroid Dread never existed in any form, it was just overeager fan made and unofficial site made rumors of a sidescrolling Metroid game taking place after Fusion.
