@MrFloyd4 DEFINITELY! They almost played too well on pulse. On delicate sound of Thunder, he didn't quite play so perfectly, but it felt right. On pulse, it was just too sterile and didn't capture that studio feel. That, in my opinion, is what really really shines about Delicate Sound of Thunder. :)
of the five times I've seen them live, mixed with how loud it was, this was his best solo for this song, no doubt. It was an outdoor venue, they focused the lasers on the clouds above the stadium, turning the whole cloud purple.Behind the female background singers(the best group they ever had) they had the wall lit up red,so you just saw the silouettes.Perfect job by the soundman, when Gilmore started doing the bit at 6:10 it was just shattering. You could actually feel it rattling your innards
@rickheyes0 I clearly remember the video of this and yes, there was another percussionist playing but Nick Mason WAS onstage and playing the drums during this song and as well as all the others from this concert.
What, in my view makes pulse better, is the tone composition and placement, this appears more rushed wheread pulse is all very cohesive. Also this song weighs in at 7:18, whereas pulse weighs in at a whopping 10.28
@aburrows2008 I can't tell how great it is to not be the only one out there who realizes how great the uncut version of his solo is. It is by far the BEST VERSION ever played. Sadly I can't fine it anywhere. If anyone has it please email me at doug.pepin@gmail.com

Such a shame some idiot cut out 1 min and 35 sec of the amazing parts of the second guitar solo, why would anyone make this wonderful video and then rape it of its full experience, ive listened to this song for over 25 years and to hear those parts missing is like getting my soul ripped out
@MikeFredensborg I was at this show. They did a lot of editing, most notably cutting all of "Welcome To The Machine" and some other songs. They were probably trying to get the length of the video down to about 90 minutes.
On the plus side, one of my friends is in this video. He's the guy in the baseball cap holding his fist in the air around 3:30.
better to not even have it on the air then to be so terribly dissapointed and not hearing the whole of one of the greatest structured solo's of all time!
Gilmore and Floyd awesome as always. I think the light show was a little bit better on the Pulse tour but hey, it's all good. The girls were definately hotter on this tour as was their performance of Great Gig in the Sky
A fifth a final night of filming August 23 was added to the original series of shows. The concert shirts on sale only say August 19-22, but I still have the ticket stub for the 23rd. Incredible show. I was in tenth grade, I recall nearly two years later HBO aired the Delicate Sound of Thunder concert. I was awestruck again.
This is the best version of Comfortably Numb, period.
If you don't agree, you're on crack. :)
Beats the stuffing out of Pulse, The Wall, all of 'em.
--I know, I know, a lot of purists will say I'm the one on crack.
Okay, okay, just a little friendly jab among fellow music fans. Music's so personal, it's a matter of personal taste, and I accept that I'm in the minority.
But for my money, Floyd *never* sounded better than on this live album.
best guitar solo out of all the other videos I've watched but for voice wise I really like the PULSE tour. the best musicians in the world, hands down
If you've never seen the version of this song that was on the video tape, you gotta. The solo was WAY longer and awesome. But I do like the vocal change up he made in the Pulse version at the "out of the corner of my eye" part.
@edhoskin The other DS live album is "On The Night". I like the version of Calling Elvis on that better than the original, but Romeo And Juliet definitely sounds better on Alchemy.
I agree this version rocks!! but the video version is shorter than the DSOT album version. If you haven't already listen to it. Its the same plus extra stuff that was cut out of the video.
@monjezlocoz I think it's too " 80's" cheesy reverb on the snare drum, slower tempo than the original... I think the Pulse one is the ultimate version
It was and will never be matched for just mind blowing visuals. Especially Rachel Fury!! Those 3 ladies swaying for 2 hours was mesmerizing! It had a block of speakers in the rear , on the L & R sides and 4 moving stacks suspended above the stage. Sound of a plane zoomed into the stadium and as it passed to the front ,the lights went out along with the sound of the plane. Back to front. In B.C. Place the sound was really good, really! The crowd went ape !!
This is the first time I am ever saying anything abt this Roger W thing: half the time I was listening to PF I didn't have a clue what the lyrics were, it was the music and the sound and those were GD, RWr and NM.
