Like many of the troops in this trailer you can see some of the spartans who are part of the story and. And in the game you are replacing another spartan who died. And his name was Thom. And he is the one with the jetpack here. This is not a spoiler but something that will give you a clearer view of the story. Very smart of Bungie to but this in the trailer.

@darkma4 in a way i think the whole game is supposed to be sad. at the risk of caring about a fictional gaming franchise, were supposed to be sad and 'remember reach' once we finish the campaign. thats why after the credits the final thing you do is fight endlessly against shitloads of covenant until eventually you die.
