Aluminum Macbook vs White Macbook

i just bought the late 2008 unibody macbook aluminum which is my upgrade from my white 2007 macbook and i tell you it is much faster than the white macbook, the white macbook is slow for games like call of duty or grand theft auto but the aluminum is a beast and the aluminum one is beautiful with the back lit keyboard and i installed 6 GB of ram and mines started up a lot faster than the white one did so this video wasnt fair at all he should have had them both unplugged when starting up

this is a horrible test... u cant compare them when you have used them before. They have to be brand new (un touched)... maybe you have alots of programs thats automatically starts up when the macbook starts :P iv got alots of those :)

@kamikaze9531 White MacBooks are like the best MacBooks and only MacBooks in my opinion, but they're better than the 13 inch MacBook Pro in my opinion too because of the price, and the specs. Go online to order a MacBook with 4 GB of ram, it's still $100 cheaper than a MacBook Pro 13'. If you buy just the ram at the apple store and you've already got the MacBook, then it's the price in 100% of a MacBook Pro 13', but MacBook still looks better.

Thats not the "new" macbook (the white one) but the older one.

The newest has got DDR 3 and C2D 2,26 GHZ, which should be nearly as fast as the macbook alu (and therefore an extra 250€ ? NO THANKS!)

the reason why it booted up faster was because the more ram you have the longer boot time it usually takes plus i think boot time tests on macs are really irrelevant simply because theres no real reason to even shut down your mac sleep mode is more than enough when your done using it for a day

ok...i am 15 too and i am using the white one...for school, msn and facebook u can use the white one coz it is just nice for school work...but the aluminium one has a few special features...1st multitouch trackpad, 2nd when the surrounding around u is darker, the screen goes darker so that ur eyes dun go worse, 3rd illuminated keyboard, 4th the trackpad is made up of glass making it less frictionny and nicer to use...hope u make the perfect choice...its up to u tho... (:

also, the aluminum macbook comes with a larger starting hard drive size and a backlit keyboard

There's no point getting aluminum if you are not going to use it to its full capabilities. If school work is what you are concerned about then get the white it will handle that with ease and do far more.

it could be many things just causeh the alu is newer doesnt mean its faster he could have a 2.0ghz alu and maybe a 2.16ghz white one, the white could have more ram, but no one cares about that, the white one might have less stuff on the harddrive and the aluminum might have more who knows

The white one has USB 2 as well and its a traveling speed of 480mbps as firewire has the same speed of 400mbps as well as FW 800 which has the same speed of 800mbps, some people need it some people dont, me i like firewire use it alot

For some reason, white macbook always look thicker on camera and they are thin double the thickness of a macbook air but thin as a Powerbook G4 15-17 inch. I guess its camera angles making macbooks look thick they are very thin

Macbook is fine after using it this entire weekend. I got MS Office 2004 installed to handle Windows. You can run both Leopard and Windows on either partition but I chose 2004. Magsafe is nice, Magnet latch is great,side slot load DVD is great, glossy screen is great. Need practice on keys. Compact and easy to carry and Isight very convenient for ichat or making youtube videos. Pros have bigger hardrive and slight faster processor no big deal IMHO

In our country, in Europe, the price is VERY different. The aluminum one (2.4ghz) costs around 1250€, and the white one 750€. Is it worth it that much?

I need it for music production and recording, so I wonder if the white one would do? Smoothly?

The aluminum is alout faster than the white, you will have no problems running music production software as i run logic and reason and they both run extremely well, alout better then the white macbook did.

It looks like the new one is running on battery power. That's probably the reason it was slower. I actually just ordered a White MacBook a few days ago and it should be here soon. I love both of 'em, but I got an awesome deal on a new white one, so I went with that over the Aluminum.
