  • this song say abut this that your drems are sometimes far away from you then you think :(

  • Objects in the rear view mirror do appear closer than are to the best of us.

  • One of the GREATEST vocalist of all time!

  • Why is it, that on albums there is a slightly different guitar solo to the on the video, if you see where I am coming from.

  • fuckin EPIC.....!!!

  • This is my favorite song of all time!

  • "She used her body just like a bandage, she used my body just like a wound...", That's damned near the sexiest line I've ever heard in a song.

  • Meatloaf and Jim Steinman, great team this song makes me think of a very close friend of mine who died a few years back we knew each other from the time we were little

  • I GOT CHILLS WHEN ROBERT PATRICK CAME RUNNING OUT ......... AWSOME VIDEO :)

  • @dolbyman800 The voice is what gave you the chills

  • Sweet. Michael Bay directed this video. I thought he just did I would do anything for love. Didn't know he did this one too.

    Meatloaf owns also.

  • ...35 people are stuck in the rear-view mirror!!! How can anybody hate this song? Yeah Jim Steinmann wrote the lyrics but it takes a voice like Meatloaf's to evoke the kind of emotions embedded in the lyrics. Can we enjoy the music and stop trying to create a division as to who is to get credit for what. I love the song- instruments vocals and lyrics. It is an amazing song like most of the album is. And by the way I am Black and by that I mean a Nigerian from Africa and YES WE ENJOY ROCK TOO!!!

  • jim steinman is the man!!!! thumbs up??

  • @neversolost: Yes, he is! But no..... If he posted a comment and asked to be voted up, though, I would.

  • great song live long meat love your music

  • it seems like yesterday 27 sept 1992 when i tragicaly lost my best friend..........this song is killing me......GOD bless you my fryend wherever you are GOD bless this song ..........GOD bless MEAT LOAF.............

  • Im not 17 srone, dont play rugby, never cried when I dislocated both knees and a shoulder - but yes - I cry when I hear this.

  • ditto

  • this song always brings a tear to my eye

  • I think this is the most beautiful song ever written, im mostly a metalfan but at nights and when i need to calm down or i feel down i always listen to Meatloaf :)

  • How could someone dislike this?!!

  • oops he said it was his second favorite song..sorry

  • Meatloaf says it is his favorite song, these lyrics are something. Gives you the chills..

  • this is one of the lesser known songs but for me it's one of the better songs i love this

  • This is my absolute favourite Meatloaf song !

  • EVERYONE, please check ALL definitions of the word "lyricist" before you comment on my post. It's not that difficult.

  • Grew up listening to this song. Brings back a lot of memories.

  • Its the T1000! lol

  • there are 35 people who dont know how close the object may appear than they are

  • I'm a 27 year old Puerto Rican girl from Brooklyn NY. When I was 9 years old I had 10 dollars left over from chistmas, I made my mom take me to the record store to buy my first CD purchase- Bat Out of Hell II....I still own that CD and I still love it as if it were the first time listening to it.

  • Damn I can never listen to this song (or watch vid) without bawling!

Jim Steinman wrote some of the best songs ever, but MeatLoafs delivery of them is what is gut wrenchingly hauntingly perfectly AWESOME!!!

    Meat is god!!!

  • @girlsinpics Nope, I`d NEVER preach, to do that you`d have to know the person inside out and NOBODY knows another that well. You sound like an intelligent guy so you`ll know what to do, keep safe man.

  • meatloaf is best

  • Incredible voice

  • Meat Loaf is one of the greatest lyricists to have ever lived. All of his songs are so incredibly moving and haunting. Probably one of the most amazing artists to ever grace us with his talent!

  • @nykdanger.....thank u so much!! I was beging to think I was the only one that seen the talent!!!!!! Meat Loaf has always been and will always be apart of my life.

  • @nykdanger I love meatloaf but sorry he doesn't write his own songs

  • @user2143 I never said he wrote his own songs. You saw the term "lyricist" and assumed that's the definition I was using. However, it was not. I meant lyricist as in lyric poet (the second definition of the word). He sings like a lyric poet. Did I break it down enough for you??

  • @nykdanger yeah I'd say you did, I was unaware of the secondary definition, thank you

  • Comment removed

  • @SoapClawtooth For the second time today, you misunderstood which definition of lyricist I was using. I never said he wrote his own songs. I meant lyricist like lyric poet. As in, he sings like a lyric poet. Have I broken it down enough for everyone??

  • @nykdanger But he'd be nothing without Jim Steinman

  • @nykdanger Dude, Jim Steinman wrote the lyrics. Great singer though...

  • @salesi712 well said, does no one else here know that steinman wrote most of whats on the bat out of hell albums

  • @nykdanger Dude, I read the second definition, I am ashamed of myself.

  • @nykdanger Agree with you, but whit respect: Meat Loaf was no lyricists... Jim was!

  • @nykdanger With respect Meatloaf didn't write the songs, it was the great Jim Steinman. However Meatloaf is an outstanding performer.

  • @nykdanger I agree, amazing song. But remember Jim Steinman wrote all his best work.

  • @nykdanger Meatloaf is not the lyricist, He's the voice that brings the magic to Jim Stenam's lyrics.

  • @nykdanger Meatloaf didn't write this song, or many of his songs for that matter. It was Jim Steinman. Give credit where it's due.

  • @nykdanger Meatloaf has written songs, but by his own admission he is a poor

songwriter. Most of his best known songs, this one included, were written & composed by Jim Steinman, though he's worked with other songwriters. Terrific singer, but

he won't be remembered for his songwriting.

  • @nykdanger Meat Loaf is an incredible vocalist but he is NOT a lyricist, this like many of his songs has both music and lyrics written by Jim Steinman, who writes the beautifully epic songs of which you describe, just saying.

  • @MrChilliwizard

I was just about to say that... :)

  • @nykdanger notice how you never hear Meat Loaf being called a talent, but Amy WHinehouse was. need we say anymore?

  • @nykdanger Meat Loaf was the composer, Jim Steinman was the lyricist, but I agree, their efforts combined crafted three of the greatest albums ever written.

  • Just incredible. This guy produced the most moving music Ive ever heard.

  • Meat Loaf still rox!! Met him b4!! He's a kewl sweet roxn dude,2!! He also an awesome softball catcher/player,2!! :oD

  • as with all of meatloafs songs this is such a powerful one and coupled with the music video really does evoke such deep emotions in people, trully amazing song by an amazing artist.

  • is that the t1000 as the kids father at the start?

  • @blindingsun Yeah, thats the same guy

  • very moving and epic song

  • this song reminds me of my second cuz every time i hear it so damn true !!!

  • i'm missing my boyfriend i have been in a deep dark depression for almost 2 weeks now i have to fake a smile a laugh and this song by meat loaf just say's it all and how i have been felling by the way my boyfriend is in the hospital and i am missing him

  • @girlsinpics Do you really mean what you say or was this a drunken night ?.

  • te cholerne lusterka zbija sie 7 lat nieszczesc a i tak w nich nic nie widzimy oprocz smutnego odbicia nas samych

  • i remember at the time of the release, that the girl in the car was named as donald trumps daughter, is this correct???

  • @TheCaspian2010 Now that I thought about it, I remember the same roomer. But I doubt it is. I figured it was just good publicity.

  • meatloaf the best performer of all times...he can act too

  • And though the nightmares should be over

Some of the terrors are still intact

I'll hear that ugly coarse and violent voice

And then he grabs me from behind and then he pulls me back

  • 35 people are gonna get their asses kicked when I find them

  • this song almost makes me cry everytime

  • mofucka meat loaf aint dead he has a new cd comeing out in mid or late october and he is on tour not sure were you got you're info but it's false

  • meatloaf is for sure what real rock music is all about!

  • I love Meatloaf, but this is not a plesant memory of Viet-Nam. Lost a good friend when a B-4 rocket hit the barracks. I was lucky. I was not there.

  • Moving song, and really evocative video (if your Father was a cruel or violent man dedicate your life to being a better person than him)

  • this song brings back my best friend, brother-in law and comrade in arms, he took his own life 10 years ago. Simper Fi. Rod, I miss you brother.

  • he's not dead he created another album

  • @BadEggCymru But he isn't dead...

  • Lol my parents bought me the meat loaf greatest hits cd with my first CD Player, I had this song on repeat, had no idea what the hell the guy was on about but so much emotion in this song. Nostalgia listening to it so many years later.

  • @dissocialpersonality with all due respect I hope your mom didn't teach you everything about the muscle of love...

  • @SteveDFM lawl

  • god i wish i could sound like him when i sing this song ( cos i sound like a strangled goose haveing a heart attack)

  • the music vid is so moving on its own and with the song it is just brill!!

  • not many people can make a true story come to life. This song does though.

  • I FARTED!

  • excellent!

  • uwielbiam

  • This guy is a god. He has an amazing voice

  • I always listen to this song when I get sad lol

  • This is an amazing song. He made a video and turned it into a real life story that a lot of people would relate to. Fortunately I wasn't one of them. He painted a pretty clear picture to me just how bad life can be if you're dealt the wrong cards.

  • PEARL IS NOW SINGING WITH HER OWN BAND, SHE WAS A BACKUP SINGER FOR MÖTLEY CRÜE DURING THEIR MAXIMUM ROCK TOUR (2000) AND IS CURRENTLY MARRIED TO ANTHRAX'S GUITAR PLAYER IAN SCOTT!!!! @Meatygirl1

  • this song really says it all.. everytime i hear this song i cry

  • @Nertrender Pearl is one of Meat's two daughters. She's a singer now too

  • Clearly 34 people dont know what music is, and im 15!!

  • Nice Story for a great song...

  • increible cancion...videoclip inmejorable...un genio el tipo...

  • I love this song. It always brings tears to my eyes. I can identify with Meat Loaf. We have much in common. His birthday is on September 30 and so is mine. I'll be 60 this year. We're both fat, and we're both diabetic. Yes, I looked that up on Google. He grew up with an abusive father, I grew up with an abusive stepfather. This song is a reflection (no pun intended) of his life.

  • 2:30 reminds me of my mother good song though

  • the man is a legend!

  • what an awsome song

  • is it just me or in the third part does the kid still look like a legitimate minor with the woman looking like she is in her late 20's?

  • @Nertrender I used to think that, but the woman is actually younger than that, and it is also set a few years later as well so he was probably about 15, 16, 17 years old.

  • @snowinowen4 how old was that actress when this was shot?

  • @Nertrender I don't know her exact age but i know she is younger.

  • I LOVE meatloaf, this is my best song my him

  • avampireconfesses . com

  • One of the best songs ever - I love it!

  • this song ia too addicting help me

  • i grew up listening to meatloaf, i may be 19, but this is a song that i love

  • Geeze this video made me cry

  • I have always loved this song. Never saw the video until about a year ago. I always thought Kenny died in a car crash. My husband was killed in a plane crash a little over two years ago. This song is more than "touching" to me!

  • 4:30 very touching stuff

  • 34 persons don't know what real music is. They should keep listening to the Justin Bieber stupid songs.

  • This song is written and arranged by Jim Steinman. Mr. Steinman is by far the best musician in the last 50 years. His talent puts everyone in the music industry today to shame.

  • That kid was a dumbass for thinking he could fly that plane.....PULL UP, PULL UP!

  • In every Meatloaf song I have ever heard, the story, either in part or in its ertirety is mine. His songs are life in reality

  • i just love this song so much. it will forever touch me

  • ...¸✿⊱╮(◕‿◕。) .....love this.......¸✿⊱╮(◕‿◕。) .

  • im so looking forward to his concert in oct. i really hope he sings this song

  • @RingOfFire79 yes

  • this song always brings a tear to my eye this is the only song that i can say this about i love meatloaf so much

  • love this song

  • This is the best Meat Loaf song imo i can relate easily to it

I once had a friend named Manny who i met when i was 3

he was my one and only friend then when i was 9 he moved away

when i was 5 my father and i didn't get along he was an alcoholic and used to verbally abuse me and mother ( we made up when i was 13)

and the third part reminds me of my mom i do everything with my mom

    she is my entire world

    and

Objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are

  • meat loaf is great we love you this is one of the best

  • He was a wild-looking performer who made some of the most powerfully moving music ever recorded. This song is sad, full of tragic memories...beautiful and haunting.

  • @47Brenda47 Can I give the thumbs up to your comment a billion times??? Truer words have never been spoken!!

  • kenangan

  • For me there best song ever

  • 4050 likes haha

  • The song so reminds me of my Childhood, and time that can never come back, but some times I come accross some things that remind me of the past, like old Car of My Grandfather, which we keep i our garrage just for a memmory of him...

  • Meatloaf will truely be a true genius no matter what he creates! Why? Because what he sings about is real life and has true meaning behind what he sings!

  • @jakeweerez Tottaly agree with you

  • For young generation....

You listen to Meat Loaf - I say you're on right track.

You listen to Electric Light Orchestra - I say keep listening to them.... Don't stop.

You listen to Uriah Heep - I say do you agree their music is better than Nickleback.

You listen to Classic Rock - I say you're listening to TRUE MUSIC!

  • Ok, I'm crying now...

  • Epic song!

  • Pearl appears in this video.

  • @Meatygirl1 who is pearl?

  • U ass!!! Some people like to watch stuff on whatever they have at the time and you think it's cool to limit the expression of art!

  • I have goosebumps the size of everest

  • 33 people have no feelings.....

  • did what he sings happened in real ???

  • @McRTH95

YES. Not saying meatloaf was actually involved but from someone he knew

  • @McRTH95 No, the songs is actually about his abusive childood upbringing. Kenny in the song was his best friend as a child. Watch the behind the music on him he talks about this video.
