I can say that by personal experience. moreover, to become GA, you need to be a a onorable and worthy person, not a "friend of the prophet". so it's not about the money, it's about serving others, and yes, while they serve others, they get to live in a nice house. but that's pretty much it. no conspiracy here
I understand that seeing "how much" a GA has, may cause envy, especially if someone is not very much "well-off" but from this, to say that the system is designed just to get gain for who is at the top, this is just not possible. yes, you can give your reasons and say your suppositions, but that's what they are, suppositions. I personally don't think that the system is designed the get money out of "the poor and unaware members".
one thing though, do you realize that most of the general authorities, before being called, have had normal jobs, for which they have paid a full thiding their entire life? and when they're called ad a genral authority, it does not necessarily imply that they are going to receive money for their support. and yes, if the money they receive is "a lot" compared to avarage standards, yet it's not a lot, compared to what they had as salary before becoming general authorities.
David, you are totally justified in your disgust & disappointment. Mormon leaders act just like the pharisees in the Bible. They despised the common person because they believed they were better than them. They wore fancy clothing and were worldly not righteous. They only thought of themselves. It is amazing that Mormons claim that they do not have a paid ministry just because Stake Presidents & below are not paid. Yet the LDS Church has many employees and retirees that get paid large salaries.
I want you to know I watched the entire video to the very end. I whole heartedly agree with what you said. My grandparents were very poor but they always kept their tithing paid up, Thank goodness they were farmers so they had some wheat, eggs &milk to eat even when they did not have any money. The ONLY MORmON Jesus dividend comes from stealing from other member's offerings -a privilege reserved for LDS exec leaders/elite. Did you know Brig Young suspended LDS tithing in 1870? check it out !
Just don't keep quiet. You were not to blame. They are shunning you, arent they? Tickle them to death. Fight for your family, David. You have helped us a lot. Show your eleven kidz love! They are not to blame, either. This damn cult iz a an abonination!!! You are smarter than em. My friend, Persistence pays off. If Mohammed doesn't go to the mountain then the mountain will come to Mohammed. Fight for your entire family cuz you love them from the bottom of your heart.
The original Tithing wording uses the word "increase" not "Gain"....Increase was understood well at the time, because most people were agriculturally oriented. When you live on a Farm, Milk your own cows, raise your own chickens slaughter your own beef etc to care for your family, the word Increase was what you had to Sell after Harvest that was left. What was left over, your Extra or your Profit from farming. Your "increase" was what money you got from selling your crop, or your animals etc.
