How do you keep the strumming so damn quiet lol? Whenever I try to strum quickly like that it becomes uncontrollably loud. Anyone got any tips?

@eragon2121 Slight muting with the strumming hand. With the fretting hand, you're letting up on the fingerings during those off-beats.

I played the tune like your doing for many years until last night when I came across a video of Alvin in the studio. It looks like he is using power chords in the strumming

That is bar none the best sounding guitar I've ever heard. I did a little research and found that a J-200 goes for around $5000. But you get a million dollars worth of tone.

Can I ask what you used to record it? It's just jaw dropping...

@hicadoodle69 In the picked part: Em G Am C B7, then start over. In the strum, I do it the same, but with a regular A instead of Am. I honestly can't tell if he's doing an A or an Am during the strum.
