hey man nice but Slash does everything in Drop D tuning so you would be playing the first few bends on the 8th fret.

No he doesn't use drop D. On almost every song he records (including this one) it's standard tuning dropped half a step.

Slash's guitar is set half-step down and mine isn't. That's why i play it lower (i.e. I start on 7th fret). :)

Don't know why it is tuned down. Slash uses dropped tunning more than standard (Knocking on Heaven's Door and Sweet Child O'mine, Don't Cry, etc.)

The effect is delay and the "knob twisting" is done on the amp (bass, mid, treble, gain, volume settings).
