DJ told me to watch your video, I really appreciated the reminders about the rules. It was new to me what you said about grains. Can you share more about that? I love rice, is this derailing me? I am 6 months post surgery and have only lost 50 pounds. Thanks also for the reminder to take each challenge at a time to conquer. Too many at once is overwhelming. Thanks for sharing!!
@bandedmomanddaughter You are doing so great DJ. One of the thing I am finding is that you can go along great for a while then start to lose a little of the passion and momentum and finding yourself slipping a little off track. The best thing about this surgery is that we can get back on at any time and tightening up on the rules is a great way to do it.
Great information and reflection, Kim. I agree with everyone else and love your last rule. I am a person that is always putting everyone else first. If I can commit to just those few minutes each day for me, I can see myself being more successful. Thanks for sharing!
@TransformingTracy If there is ever a time in your life to be a little selfish, this is it. Dedicate yourself to this journey and putting yourself first for the next year or so until you get to where you want/need to be. If they love you, people will understand. You are fighting for your life.
@candj1977 I think that has been one of the things that has surprised me the most. Yes this is very hard and a lot of work but I am actually enjoying every minute of the journey.
HOW THE HECK DID i MISS THESE 2 VIDS UNTIL NEARLY 2 WEEKS LATER! i ALWAYS WATCH FOR YOU! i really needed a reminder vid ! big hugs and best wishes for continued success.
@cabernetqueen Sally, I am so flattered that you watch for my videos. I watch for yours too. I am glad I made the "rules" video as a reminder to get back to those basics. I have had an excellent week.
@kacykwinn Thanks Kacy. Hope it works for you. I feel like I am a pretty happy person but even better are the insights that can come to you when you just take the time to be quiet and listen. I am a bit of a talker so it is good for me to chill a little every day.
Great Video!!!! I completely agree with the time alone and working on the mental part of the journey!!!! That part is the most important part of it!!! You are such an inspiration Kim!!!
Hey Kim, watched the first vid last night and this one this morning. Great update! I really like that spending time with yourself each day. I definitely am going to try and do this as I think it'll really help me. Thanks for going through the rules, and you're right - follow them and be successful! Congrats on all your success thus far! :)
@BanditStephanie Thanks Stephanie. I love and believe in the rules and one of the purposes of this video was to rededicate myself to them a after nine months I have found my momentum to be slipping a little and I have been fudging here and there on some of them. Back on track now and have had 3 perfect days, Going for Day 4 today.
Amen on the mental work part of this journey! You are sooo spot on, and I consider you a leader on this front for sure! Seriously. Love it! I could be better on quieting myself. I am a fan of it, and find it something I love to do, but don't commit. consistently. But here's to new committments, right? I mean I am journaling again, and it's ok. Kudos on your 9 months. Rock STAR! IMpressive. Love you much! Couldn't do this without you in my corner, and I'm honored to be one of your supports!
@exitmelanie I am so glad we met! You are one of my biggest supports and a huge part of my success. Your nine month is right around the corner. I am so glad you are journaling again and I think you are really onto something by going low carb. I love the way you described it in your video re: your family history and having a metabolic disorder which is affected by the carbs. I know you are going to be lighting off fireworks this weekend.
That's the best way to start doing exercise. Start slow. When I first started I got a pedometer and just increased my steps each week by 1000 a day until I worked up to 12,000 a day. When you try and do it all at the get go it just gets overwhelming.
OMG I had that same attatude about not wanting restriction to make me chew to death!! I hate to chew it is so boring!! You are doing Awesome you are such an inspiration!! Go Kim!! What a great idea about the 15 minutes to think!! Oh year I have lost a ton over and over! I am going to try that 15 min. Keep going Kim!!! "Hugs"
@Newlifetina Tina, thanks so much for your comments. I think you also are a huge inspiration. I hear people talk about the Chew Chew Chew until it is milky and use words like masticating and I just feel nauseous. I am a very visual person and cannot stand to think of eating my food like that.
You are right...you will know when you need to chew well and eat slow. I was a tad tight for several months. But I loved it. Now I am required to have an annual upper G.I. swallow test (tomorrow morning in fact) So I was unfilled 2 wks ago, took .2cc's out. Wow what a difference. Now I can eat anything and am just naturally eating faster and chewing less, because I can. After this test, I want to have some fill put back in...not quite as much as before, but I do need and want the restriction!
