  • That was awesome. Jake Roberts rules. The snake handler's glove @3:32 was enough to make me exclaim "Holy shit!". Jake plays it all so well.

  • This was an awesome angle... too bad that his WCW run was so short

  • Haha, my name is Jake Roberts :L

  • Jake wearing a snake handler's glove...when all he had in the bag was a python!

  • Jim Ross sounds so good back then before the Bells Palsy. Still sounds good now and is the best in the business but what a shame.

  • holy crap... sting had rick rude in a bench press for a freaking long time

  • Jake The Snake was cold. One of the best promos in the business. Trust me...

  • When was this?

  • @JoeGutfeld 1992

  • Jake the Snake ftw

  • notice Grizzly Smith on other side of ring

  • thats like the longest gorilla press i've ever seen

  • it's weird seeing Jake and Rude on the same side...

  • WCW should of had a good thing with Cactus Jack, Jake Roberts, Steve Austin....

  • sting jumped before he got clotheslined

  • should have at least been givin a chance with the nwo.

  • i wouldve just thrown the snake out and watched all the other wrestlers scatter outta the ring :-D

  • Look at 2:15 I like how the ref at the top just fell when Jake smashed Sting with the chair.

  • I dont care how over you are a clothesline as a finisher is weak

  • jr had a high voice back then...

  • Thanks for the upload the snake vs the scorpion. Never new jake the snake went to wcw.

  • DDT = damian's tea time

  • i think roberts would of made a fantastic villian in a good movie cause of his character just watch some promos

  • @tikipunch42088 : Yes.

  • We Need to see Jake Back in the WWF not WWE ... (always be wwf to me) THE best psychological wrestler EVER!!

  • I know this is being too critical, BUT: You can truly see the different level of professionalism of wCw compared to the WWF back then. I mean, EVERYONE in the WWF could really take a DDT, but in wCW all the wreslters seem to take a DDT on the top of their heads making it look really cheesy.

  • @iwanttoseemrshow I dunno if it's WCW unprofessionalism. I see it as either Sting doesn't know how to sell it properly *or* Sting is trying to oversell it with the somersault. *Or*, because the DDT is onto a chair, Sting is selling it very lightly with the roll so that he doesn't clang his head off the chair.

  • I expect the snake was more scared of Ron Simmons

  • that was a devastating pair of DDT's

  • Its too the new owner of WCW was such a fuck stick and had no idea what to do running a wrestling company Jake could've had a great run in the WCW.

  • Looking at A LOT of Sting vs. Jake at that time...Sting just NEVER would take the DDT like it's meant to be taken (falling where you kick your feet out from under and behind you), maybe it was fear, maybe he had a bad experience under a different wrestler at somepoint, but he just wouldn't do it correctly, and a lot of wrestlers don't. (I love Sting too!)

  • F'n WCW booking at the time TOTALLY screwed up Jake's run...they messed up A LOT...turns out they were known for it and it would eventually (under different bookers) kill the company (probably would've happened anyway judging from how badly they messed things up under these bookers too)!! They screwed Rude, Sting, Cactus, Austin, Pillman, Jake, Bulldog, Raven, etc...!! Really too bad, they were fun to watch and a viable substitute for WWF when IT got bad at times.

  • Stings flattop adsorbed the impact of the DDT.

  • Man I would have given anything to see Jake Roberts vs Terry Funk in this era they both were nuts and would have drawn big money fueding

  • I never loved to hate him, I just loved him. One of the best on the mic and most exciting iIn the ring right there, Jake Roberts...

  • @Mcfly88 Ahmen brother!

  • The most fake DDT ever!

  • @stuartshame What do you expect, Sting to take a real DDT on a freakin steel chair and risk getting injured?!

  • @MSH786 Well, I know it isn't real, obviously, just that it "looks" fake with his little head over the heels ballet dance tumble.

  • @stuartshame well you're wrong ddts are very dangerous they are real, sure he tried to block it wouldn't you asshole?

  • @oldschool6804 Why do you feel the need to swear at me to comment? I'm sure DDT's would be very dangerous if they were real but my point here, "Asshole", is that everyone knows wrestling is falsified; this being a case in point. It is for entertainment. Do. You. Know. What. That. Means?

  • @stuartshame NO IT'S NOT FALSIFIED FUCK OFF AND DIE GUYS GET HURT EVERY MATCH YOU'RE AN IDIOT! YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT WRESTLING! WINNERS ARE PLANNED MOST OF THE INJURIES ARE REAL!

  • @oldschool6804 Meh. Say what you like and call me what you like; it doesn't bother me. I'm pleased you enjoy your little pantomime but I happen to think it's fake or "kayfabe". Doesn't mean it's any less entertaining, though. Just like watching a live action cartoon or a movie.

  • @stuartshame NO IT'S NOT ALL KAYFABED OR PANTOMIME LOOK AT ALL THE BROKEN NECKS AND CONCUSSIONS!

  • @oldschool6804 Well, okay, I know that it's not ALL fake and accidents happen and such but you're sort of missing my point in that I was originally saying this PARTICULAR incident looked fake. There's really no need to tell me to fuck off and die. I mean, look at Owen Hart? I know that was real and very tragic. No need to get so aggressive just because someone has an opinion.

  • @stuartshame IT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE WRONG THE INJURIES AREN'T ALL ACCIDENTS I KNOW PEOPLE THAT WRESTLED SO DON'T BE IGNORANT!

  • @oldschool6804 All right, I don't care enough about this as you obviously so. So yes, I bow to you, and agree then that wrestling is not fake and they're not all accidents and telling people to fuck off and die because you don't agree with them is perfectly mature. The end.

  • watch the Ref @ 2:13-2:15 :D vintage ref :D

  • "He's got...some...huge reptile there." It's a snake man, it's his whole freaking gimmick for crying out loud!

  • around 2:10 Sounds like Jake the Snake just wanted to kick some a@@!

  • To me what would have made this debut so much cooler is if he'd have pulled out a pocket watch instead of a cross and put that on Sting and he could have used that in a promo saying Sting your time is up.

  • JR made this moment. I miss those moments when a commentator would say, "What's he doing here?! He doesn't even wrestle here?!".

  • JR is the best!

  • A PERFECT SIGHT FOR ME WOULD BE A LINE OF STING,HOGAN,CENA....AND HAVE JAKE DDT THEM ONE BY ONE....WOULD SO LOVE THAT

  • Jake was way off que here, he was supposed to have came out alot sooner to make his attack

  • @LordEli I think it was voluntary... In good shape, Jake Roberts was good at playing with the timing and little thing like that to bring some psychological aspect. Out of shape, he was dump and stupid.

  • @therrydicule I don't think it would be the case of Jake being in or out of shape or not - but more of a fact of "Is he clean ?" in terms of drug and alcohol abuse. If Jake could've stayed away from his vices, he would be working in a big promotion now with alot of title reigns under his belt, Jake is the first to admit he fucked up and that it cost him a long term, positive career.

  • @Cyberpit2000 I hate to point it out like that, because it sound over-zealously holistic, but everything you eat, drink and sniff - every intake have some effect on your health. Many are marginal, but drugs affect your body... And lack of training effect your body. Furthermore, this is pro-wrestling, it does not take much to be out of shape there.

  • @Cyberpit2000 However, I believe that without the vices, there would be no Jake the Snake.

  • So....looks like Jake missed his cue by at least 30 seconds to a minute. God damn, Sting was strong back then!!!

  • like jake use to say DTA... don't trust anybody

  • ffffffffffffucking hell sting is holding him in the air like hes fucking nothing

  • DDT is on a steel chair back then was like a career ending move. And to do it twice on someone in the same night... Nowadays you do a DDT on someone they get back up no problem.

  • Comment removed

  • Damn Sting Is Strong ! Look How Long He holds Up Rude !!!! ?

  • What a line-up they had. WCW has had some of the best wrestlers together at moments but the so rarely but it together into decent storylines.

  • Real men don't need pads on the concrete... WCW was edgy back in the day

  • I really miss the days when there were other legitimate companies for wrestlers to jump ship to, and then pre internet, the days when it was actually a surprise to people. I hate dirt sheets and websites that have contract info and what not because they kill the surprise of things like this. In today's wrestling world people in the crowd would have known about this for 90 days prior.

  • Lot of people criticized Bill Watts for his WCW run--but he sure made it work on this night

  • damn sting was strong

  • I wish Sting hadnt injured Rude and made him retire.

  • I still to this day love this moment! I am so glad it happened when it happened because had this been the internet era, it would have been killed so much! No one saw Roberts coming, and Jim Ross made it into something 10 times better!

  • weird to see this in summer 1992, a crossroads as jake was at the endof his wwf run in the winter of '92 just before this, and by october, the steiner brothers debuted in wwf...

  • @domirules28 this was one of jim ross' last days with wcw to, i believe, before he moved to the wwf.

  • @ant8tfive He was still with WCW months after this, this was in August of 92, he left around January of 93.

  • typical wcw making no sense. Jake and Rude feud for years and for no reason Jake comes and helps him

  • @evansiggson He came cuz there was a bounty on Sting he wasn't helping Rude man

  • @evansiggson I don't see how that's a WCW thing, wrestling has been doing that for ages, at the first Survivor Series, Steamboat teams with Savage and Jake, the two guys who tried to put him out of wrestling.

  • jake. the first outsider.

  • JR The Best Made this incident awesome and emotional,I miss Jim Ross.bring him back E

  • this is professional wrestling

  • pound for pound, sting had to be one of the strongest guys ever in wrestling,

Rude was a big guy and sting held him up in a millitary press for over 20 sec.

Plus take a look at wcw's roster back then.

simmons, steiners, stinger, kolloff, rude, cactus and now jake. They also had vader back then.

WCW was the best promotion by far, too bad hogan and bischoff meesed it all up

  • i was here that night... everybody stood up and actually CHEERED when Jake got in the ring, but then he attacked Sting and it switched to boos. But everyone was genuinely surprised to see him. Great moment.

  • @herculeshernandez

youtube wasnt invented back then so, how could you be here?

  • @nath909 i mean, i was at the arena... in Baltimore. This was the same night Ron Simmons beat Vader to win the title too.

  • What Year was this ????

  • @Djteedoe420 1992

  • STING COME BACK

    STING

  • i have to say, sting looks better now with everything black. but undertaker was better with limp bizkit song and as big evil than smoke, smoke, even more smoke, coffins and shit. bring back your harley!!!

  • @1993heavenshallburn

The Undertaker sucked as "american badass", hence the reason why he wanted to go back to Deadman era in 2004... typical idiots.....

  • @tonshaad1230 The reason why they went back to his deadman persona, was because Vince is a huge fan of that gimmick.

  • 0:57 till 1:26

    Sting showing his strength!

  • this is not Jake Snake Roberts

    is Rick Rude

    everybody knows that

  • sting true legend

  • Something tells me that they were having 2nd thoughts about dumping Rude onto Jack.

  • Jake always treated his snakes like shit!!! He would just toss them around, lookin back I cant believe that he was never bitten in the ring AND I cant believe none of the snakes were stepped on or hurt (seemingly)!!! If I understand/remember correctly none of the snakes were even his.

  • @DrVegasIII They had all of jakes snaked devenomed of course it says that in his dvd so nobody would get hurt

  • It was huge that WCW got Jake Roberts. Other then Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Jake Roberts was probably the next most popular wrestler they had. Too bad his stay in WCW was so short. I would have loved to see Jake wrestle Vader, Cactus, Flair, Austin, Windham, Orndorff, Sid, Anderson, there could have been so many great matches.

  • Good point although he wrestled Vader in 1996 (KOTR e.g.) - arguably in horrible shape.

  • doesn't scott steiner look TINY

  • Back when performing a press slam near the ropes was considered "chaotic" or a "disqualification."

  • LOL I remember the day when WCW said it was ok to throw the wrestler over the top rope. It was during a match and one of the announcers said that "its ok now, no more disqualification"

  • Wow I forgot how strong Sting was when he was younger.

  • There are no bluffs from Mr Stinger.

  • What the Goddamn FUCK is your problem, you racist cocksucking bastard?

  • I believe as a result of that attack by Roberts Sting had to forefit his WCW title shot that night against Vader, and Ron Simmons was picked out of a hat to compete in Sting's place, and would later win the title, making him the first African-American wrestler to win a World Title in a major promotion!

  • @MatthewDaSmitdog does no one remember Iceman King Parsons winning the world title in World Class Championship Wrestling???

  • To me when Scott Hall appeared in WCW in june 1996 the first time before Nash came in he was using this idea but making it much much bigger

  • ahh classics

  • nice outfit jake

  • Strength by Sting pressing rude for AGES - coool. I Remember seeing Jake appearing and this supprised me. For me it was back in the day before there were any hints of who was going to what promotion n when.

  • Sting and Warrior are very strong. It can be weird trying to get the REAL stats on some of these people, not everyone is exactly the way that they look.

I think people like Sting and Warrior are probably stronger than Hogan. Hogan really lacks substance in some primary areas. Too many shortcuts, and directly against his own advice. Sting was a perfect good guy back then. In and out of the ring he was a high class guy.

  • Sting and Warrior were both body-builders in Venice Beach, that's why. They'd both be stronger than Hogan I reckon, easily.

Anyway, Jake is/was a huge drug addict now iirc. I remember watching this doco on him and he was into coke, heroin, everything.

  • @diamondstudd Yeah, this was before the whole internet boom, in which we can now easily find all the real backstage news stories online

  • @diamondstudd Yeah, this was way before the whole internet boom, a phenomenon in which was can now easily find out all of the real-life backstage news if we search for it online.

  • Wow! Jim Ross was such a great commentator! He hyped the shit out of this!

  • so is that sting diffrent from the one in tna?

  • it's the same one...this sting was much better....

  • OMFG, HOW STUPID

  • well you nob not all of us are over a million years old and watch a rubbish imitation of wwe so screw you

  • Fuck off

  • make me

  • Again go fuck off somewhere prude

  • ok how about this you screw yourself and we never speak again

  • Oh you are going to screw yourself? oh how nice.

  • Why did Jake have the snake handler's glove? The snake was a python (prob

Damion) not a cobra. Jake never needed a glove with Damion

  • W O W Jake The Snake looks like the freakin Lord of Darkness outthere!

  • miss the old WCW (pre 1995)

  • fucking great

    remember no internet back then....awesome

  • Did Jake get bit by a snake once when he had a match with Sting?

  • yes. it was their coal miner's glove match at halloween havoc 92.

  • So Jake came to Rude's rescue? That's all kinds of wrong!

    Great moment this!

  • My thoughts exactly

  • Best DDT in the business

  • classic moment here. sadly, this was the lone highlight of jake's 1992 wcw run. but what a intro he made here.

  • @CoastToCoastPM thnx to fucking fatass bill watts

  • @CoastToCoastPM WCW seemed like they were just lost when Flair left the promotion. They never created any other main event heels other than the Horsemen.

  • @NJPlayer79 what about NWO?

  • @VinnyLT9000 I meant when Flair left the organization in 1991. They created the NWO when Flair was back on the scene again.

  • @NJPlayer79 Well, actually, that's why the turned Luger heel after beating Windham for the title.

  • @NJPlayer79 vader bro he took that spot

  • @NJPlayer79 vader bro he took that spot then flair came back then the giant came in then hogan turned heel it worked out perfectly

  • can you not read? Its labeled at the start august 2nd 1992 at Baltimore arena.

  • when was this?!
