I'm HR 98 and I thought this tutorial wasn't that bad for rookies. I've sent the link to a couple of friends and they seem to have gotten much better at the game so I have to thank this guy. My friends are finally able to kill things without me doing all the work.
This is seriously terrible - after two days with the game (having no prior MH experience) I watched this video and wondered where people this bad at the game got off trying to tell people "this move is easy to dodge" then systematically getting hit by it every time...
...Um...That 'dragon' is a Rathian, you got half of the attack descriptions for qurupeco wrong and its really easy to predict all the moves for royal ludroth...And I dodge all the time...Besides, just stay at his tail, the only threat if you stand there is that tail slap, which really isn't that bad...Sorry, I'm flaming...

If you really think you can make a better guide then by all means make one! It is a lot tougher than one would expect. I think this guy deserves a lot of respect! I am still 11 hours into the game and still I found this to be very helpful! There are many thinks I still don't know but this guy is very informative.

just to let everyone know. For some of the fight vs the bird thing (quarepeco) he was using Jaggi armour and a fire hammer. not a good choice... jaggi armour has an awful fire bonus and hitting a fire monster with a fire weapon is pretty much healing him. you would be better off with a bone mace or something like that. But I hate the Ludroth. one of the most tedious monster ever.. super annoying. My online name is Torag. add me if you want. Hr is 11 i think
I abosilutely hate underwater creatures (R.Ludroth, Gobul, etc.) only because I feel more vulnerable underwater, although we all sure do. This actually helped me quite a bit though, so thank you.
well this is a great tutorial for showing what not to do but if you want a good tutorial to show you what to do than type in Monster Hunter Tri tutorial and whach any of the tutorials done by social dissionance he knows what he doing and makes really good tutortials.

When the Qurepeco (Green Bird Wyvren) does his Side-To-Side dance, he's calling for a buff, when he Raises his head and roars, he's calling minions, and when he swoops his head from down to up, he's calling for a Boss Monster.

Me too, I played WoW before i played MH3. My college work demanded most of my time. I couldn't constantly go online for hours on end to do raids on WoW. But when I played MH3 i said "WoW seems like as much fun as watching paint dry compared to this".
Not only that, but it takes no time at all to get on MH3 and hunt a monster or two. Takes forever to do anything on WoW.
That's my opinion though. No offense to WoWies out there.

You think Lagiacrus is hard? wait till you encounter Deviljho and Alatreon if you go online......and partially Ceadus offline, all of them Elder Dragons, all of them walking bodies of murder
@Cena71795 Deviljho isn't a elder dragon he's a brute wyvern and i found him kind of easy sure he has ALOT of health but he's very slow i used the Skycraper.
But ala is pretty hard thats where your right. Ceadeus on the other hand is hmm in the middle.
I have a question for you. I was thinking of picking up monster hunter 3 or tri and I have the option of getting either the version with the controller pro or without. I already own the classic controller is it worth getting the bundle even though I own the classic? Which did u use to play the game?
When Big Bird screams loudly as if a frog is in its throat, Rathian's a coming, other than that a medium scream is a R.Ludroth, and Great Jagii is when Big Bird scream's is low and not intimidating at all.
The hammer can daze enemies? I just used a sword and shield through the game, until I got to the first capture quest. Since you have to do it to advance, I can't get farther in the game because I suck at trying to capture anything on my own. I always end up killing the great jaggi. I wait for him to go to sleep, but he never does. I think the quest where you kill a royal ludroth is the most played. I love fighting in the water.
ok i just have to keep commenting for the new players sake, the qurupeco's calls are not random, if you listen carefully you can tell when he calls he actually mimics the roars of OTHER monsters... if you dont know what roar he is doing then your out of luck, but it is NOT random. ok, a couple things about the royal ludroth, his attacks are very easy to dodge and predict(even as a new player) here are the signs--
if he does a small roar and kind of flairs his head, thats a water spit charge>>>>
@ajko000 the other thing is, when ever he looks behind himself and opens his mouth very sassy-like that is when he does the tail swipes. also, the barrel roll he does is very predictable, he'll stand on one hand look behind him and then roll, its pretty obvious, and a lot of his attacks are easy to predict just look at how he moves his head.... and if you know how to dodge correctly and sight the slightest irratability in ANY monster, you can dodge them witha 100% success rate
i use the hammer, its my 2nd favorite wep, but he doesnt know how to aim and or chain a continous atk with the hammer........ and if he wants to hit the quru without his hammer bouncing off, use the super pound >.<..... mega radical -.-..... the only time i take honey, and blue mushrooms is when versing alatreon... otherwise i use pots and herbs for smaller health recovery. cuz if u dont keep ur health at max.. its not your best decision most of the time...
Sorry but your using items,weapons,and armor that you can only get after beating barroth a boss you can only get to after beating all these bosses.. Armor - Baggi cant get until you reach the tundra ( after beating barroth) Weapon (Made from Barroth (means he beat the barroth several times)

ie: long, loud roar, moves head left and right is the rathian call. Head up in the air, yapping like Great Jaggi is Great Jaggi's call. Meowing summons the damn theif cats, etc. That's why he is called the impersonator/trickster.
Royal Ludroth is actually quite easy. All u need to do is watch for is charge and blasts. he is very slow at preforming some attacks thats when u attack. Cut off his tail and then his mane. Then, FINISH HIM....
Personally, I find the Royal Ludroth a lot easier to kill underwater. He's much easier to read, and has fewer, more straightforward attacks. All that really makes this underwater fight difficult to people, i think, is the camera. Good use of camera rotation can give you a better angle to predict his moves and dodge accordingly. but from a bad angle, you wouldn't be able to see him at all. This is all with a hammer, though, so this doesn't apply to everybody.
actually it gets VERY easy if u fight the r. ludroth in water with the right weapons it gets very easy! you need: a large blow gun a medium blow gun a bunch of money 60 fire bullets 50 lvl 2 pierce bullets 5 clust bullets and 9 crag bullets key: *assential @ not assential but can make it easier
*put the blow gun in this patteren heavy, medium, heavy this will let u get better speed and use most of the powerfull bullets (to see part 2 look up here ^^^^^^
I actually have some questions: is it advised to finish the singleplayer before going into online play and is Wii-speek common in the community? (because typing is kinda slow...)

Mini T-Rex? Try a Velociraptor.
The Flint attack ALWAYS chases you. If he goes straight ahead, you're not moving. Plus, the funny dance is only for buffs and heals.
The combination thing is about the most useful info you give.
And your Ludroth info is slightly worse than half-decent.

The dragon from the intro is Rathalos.
But their not dragons their Wyverns.

@Cena71795 Deviljho isn't a elder dragon he's a brute wyvern and i found him kind of easy sure he has ALOT of health but he's very slow i used the Skycraper.
But ala is pretty hard thats where your right. Ceadeus on the other hand is hmm in the middle.

When Big Bird screams loudly as if a frog is in its throat, Rathian's a coming, other than that a medium scream is a R.Ludroth, and Great Jagii is when Big Bird scream's is low and not intimidating at all.

The hammer can daze enemies? I just used a sword and shield through the game, until I got to the first capture quest. Since you have to do it to advance, I can't get farther in the game because I suck at trying to capture anything on my own. I always end up killing the great jaggi. I wait for him to go to sleep, but he never does. I think the quest where you kill a royal ludroth is the most played. I love fighting in the water.

ok i just have to keep commenting for the new players sake, the qurupeco's calls are not random, if you listen carefully you can tell when he calls he actually mimics the roars of OTHER monsters... if you dont know what roar he is doing then your out of luck, but it is NOT random. ok, a couple things about the royal ludroth, his attacks are very easy to dodge and predict(even as a new player) here are the signs--
if he does a small roar and kind of flairs his head, thats a water spit charge>>>>

@ajko000 the other thing is, when ever he looks behind himself and opens his mouth very sassy-like that is when he does the tail swipes. also, the barrel roll he does is very predictable, he'll stand on one hand look behind him and then roll, its pretty obvious, and a lot of his attacks are easy to predict just look at how he moves his head.... and if you know how to dodge correctly and sight the slightest irratability in ANY monster, you can dodge them witha 100% success rate

i use the hammer, its my 2nd favorite wep, but he doesnt know how to aim and or chain a continous atk with the hammer........ and if he wants to hit the quru without his hammer bouncing off, use the super pound >.<..... mega radical -.-..... the only time i take honey, and blue mushrooms is when versing alatreon... otherwise i use pots and herbs for smaller health recovery. cuz if u dont keep ur health at max.. its not your best decision most of the time...

Sorry but your using items,weapons,and armor that you can only get after beating barroth a boss you can only get to after beating all these bosses.. Armor - Baggi cant get until you reach the tundra ( after beating barroth) Weapon (Made from Barroth (means he beat the barroth several times)
Sorry Guys he's using high level armor your not getting for hours into the game (unless you're online)

ie: long, loud roar, moves head left and right is the rathian call. Head up in the air, yapping like Great Jaggi is Great Jaggi's call. Meowing summons the damn theif cats, etc. That's why he is called the impersonator/trickster.

Royal Ludroth is actually quite easy. All u need to do is watch for is charge and blasts. he is very slow at preforming some attacks thats when u attack. Cut off his tail and then his mane. Then, FINISH HIM....

If you use Dung bombs for the Quepeco, you can have the other monsters it calls run away so you aren't dealing with 2 bosses.

Personally, I find the Royal Ludroth a lot easier to kill underwater. He's much easier to read, and has fewer, more straightforward attacks. All that really makes this underwater fight difficult to people, i think, is the camera. Good use of camera rotation can give you a better angle to predict his moves and dodge accordingly. but from a bad angle, you wouldn't be able to see him at all. This is all with a hammer, though, so this doesn't apply to everybody.

*use clust and crag bullets first
*if above land use pierce
*if in water use fire bullets (NOTE!!! FIRE BULLETS DONT WORK ON THIS GUY ABOVE WATER SO DONT WAIST IT STUPID!!)

actually it gets VERY easy if u fight the r. ludroth in water with the right weapons it gets very easy! you need: a large blow gun a medium blow gun a bunch of money 60 fire bullets 50 lvl 2 pierce bullets 5 clust bullets and 9 crag bullets key: *assential @ not assential but can make it easier
*put the blow gun in this patteren heavy, medium, heavy this will let u get better speed and use most of the powerfull bullets (to see part 2 look up here ^^^^^^
