@InnerFidelity Sooo...These are like the Punkers of headphone - Not necessarily a good thing, but out of the norm, so they catch your attention, which was probably the point in the first place, and they often sound (or looks) like something you just dragged from a junkyard :P
I've been cautious of plugging my uber nice headphones into the airline adapters and such on planes. There have been stories where something wasn't quite right, DC got through, and destroyed some nice IEMs in the past. Wonder how true this is.
Haven't airline headphones always been lousy? This one would be true to its heritage then. ;)
I wonder how they can even make these at a $2 price point though. Maybe it's a symbolic price.
Speaking of wretched-sounding headphones, I used to own some Sony MDR-101 cheapies many moons ago (open supraaurals, around $10 back in the late '90s I guess). Only pair of cans I've ever tossed. They were dreadful even on shortwave, with uneven frequency response and high distortion.
Stax SR-009 or United Airlines Flight 962 Crapphones?

Crappy, huh? That's why I got my new Sennheiser MM550-X. Compare those to my headphones.
