I though the same when seeing it first time... what if there where planet like spaceships. they couldn`t rely on exploiting one planet after the other just to survive. Most likely they would have a infrastructure using the most effective and easiest to "harvest" energy source - suns. so even if they knew we would live on earth - they might not be interested in us.
